Kelly Olynyk was the best pro prospect in that game.

Kelly Olynyk was the best pro prospect in that game.

He looked like just a big, mobile body tonight with a few, unrefined moves around the basket. As mobile as he looked at times, he looked just as awkward on more occasions.

He might be a better "prospect," but he's just that... a prospect.

Watch more of him. Is that the first time you've seen him play?

Well, it's probably the first time I've taken note of him. I watch way more college ball than pro, so I've definitely seen my share of Zags games, but this was the one I probably saw the most of Olynyk.

I get it though. He's huge, mobile, and has a high Q-rating with his image and whatnot. I wasn't necessarily knocking Olynyk's prospects as I was attesting to Paul's.

Paul really jumped on everyone's radar after that 43 point game against the Buckeyes last year, and I was skeptical of his ability to translate to the pro game at the time, but the more I've seen him play since, the more I think he can make it, albeit undersized and the type of player I wouldn't personally want on my team. He's like a taller Dee Brown. If you threw him two inches, he'd be a lottery pick.

Chad Ford believes this guy will be a top-10 pick this year:

6'7" PF (7'1" wingspan)
Similar build to Kenneth Faried

Who is in the pic? I can't see youtube at work

*Bump*

Anyone see Shabazz hit those clutch threes to knock off Mizzou the other day? That really speaks to his poise and confidence, two things that Noel hasn't really shown in his game so far. While Muhammad had ice water running through his veins against Mizzou, Noel was fumbling passes and throwing the ball all over the place in a panic against Louisville. For that matter, the whole Kentucky team has looked rattled and unsure of itself all year.

Also, has anyone else seen anything to write home about about Kaleb Tarczweski? The guy was a top ten recruit and is projected as a first round pick, but in the two games I've seen him (vs. Florida, vs. San Diego St.), he's been a complete non-factor. In the last game, he was on the floor for 18 minutes and posted 0 pts, 0 rbs. I know he's young, big men take time to develop, and you can't teach height, but he's more of a project than I was expecting.

We shall learn a lot more in March but Nerlens Noel looks to me like a great rim protector!

:BUMP:

Chad Ford said more than one scout compared this guy to Karl Malone.

Also, Len is now rated higher than Zeller. I don't see it.

How about that Michigan team?
Trey Burke is the guy I like the most but he's too much like Lillard so I'm guessing we don't take him.
Tim Hardaway Jr. is a solid shooting guard, can be a good pro.
Another player I liked was Glen Robinson the SF, a kind of do it all player, maybe reminded me somewhat of Will Barton and as much as I like Will, that's a compliment.
Another solid player, maybe a 2nd rounder, is the lithuanian kid Stauskas, a good comparison for him may be Gordon Hayward though Probably not as good.

Slowly climbing up the draft ranks. I would so love if my Blazers took Olynyk in the 1st round. Dude can be the next Dirk, no joke.

Olynyk is a legit prospect, but I stand by my original statements about Olynyk vs. Paul.

With one player (Paul), you know what you're getting, in a high-volume scorer that has the talent of a lottery pick but the height of a fringe first rounder. He's shoot-first, and at his height, that could either make him the next Monta Ellis or the next Josh Selby... it really just depends on who drafts him.

With the other player (Olynyk), you have a player that has a lot of potential but didn't look the part of an NBA big man during the Illinois/Gonzaga game.

His improvement since his redshirt season has really been remarkable though.

Just watched Michigan @ Minnesota. Trey Burke is more than a mid-to-late first rounder. He should be the first PG off the board.

Tim Hardaway, Jr. is also very underrated by the mocks. I see DraftExpress projects him as a 2014 mid-second rounder. That's ridiculous... he's got all the makings of a prototypical rotation shooting guard on the next level. If he came out this year, I'd easily take him in the mid-first.

I'm watching the Georgia Tech @ Duke game right now. I think Plumlee's draft stock is a bit overrated, but he does have a hook shot that's nearly impossible to defend. He's got Daniel Miller guarding him, who doesn't have pro potential but is one of the best shot blockers in the ACC, and even with the big frosh Robert Carter helping out, Plumlee's been able to score at will when he goes to his right hook. It doesn't always look pretty, and he's missed one or two of them, but it seems like most of his field goals have come off of that same move.

I agree about Burke. I'm not sure if there's a better PG prospect in college ball right now.

Voodoo, you should check out Marcus Smart for Oklahoma St. kid can ball. He's got a money mid range game and can attack the hoop at will and score in a variety of ways.

Also, I still think Shabazz is overrated. He's good, but doesn't warrant the hype he gets. A good player at the next level, sure. A star? no.

Watching the first half right now. Hardaway is beasting right now, the best I've seen him. Another player I really like is Glen Robinson, doesn't look for his shot much but is a very good all around SF - a solid defender, rebounder and passer.

Just watched the ending of the Kansas/Texas game. Now watching Ducks/Bruins. Great college basketball day. Gonzaga/Butler should be a doozy.

Me too, contemplating switching over to Cal/Stanford if I can find a stream but Oregon/UCLA are the better teams. Want to see Shabazz, but hes invisible so far this game.

Ben McLemore is solid, but if hes a top 5 pick then it just lends credence to those calling this draft weak (at the top at least). Good athlete, solid size, gorgeous stroke, rebounds and defends. Can't see him being much better than a Jason Richardson type of player, but at the same time he seems like a safe bet to be a solid starting SG, Cuttino Mobley-esque perhaps as a realistic/pessimistic comparison.

I like McLemore. Its hard to find a good SG in today's NBA. He'll be a good one, dude can stroke it. Watch Marcus Smart from Okie St. I still like Zeller best out of this draft though.

Ford thinks McLemore has a real shot at being the #1 pick.

He also said the same thing about Alex Len.

Alex Len looks good. Best true Center in the draft.

Mohammed just doesn't do it for me. Some exciting dunks, but plays with low bball IQ. Leaves you scratching your head a lot.

But yeah, people that think McLemore is going #1 are smoking meth.

Haven't seen a lot of C. Zeller. I love guys with a polished post game, but I do have some questions about him. Hes clearly a top 3 player in the draft but big men need to do a lot more than just score in the NBA. His upside seems like Pau Gasol, but hes really not as athletic as a young Pau. Not sure how he'll fit as far as defense and rebounding in the league.

Haven't see Len at all, but really want to catch a Maryland game at some point before the tourney.

Anderson kid on UCLA is a really nice college player, far too unathletic to have a future in the NBA though.

I saw Zeller live two times last year at the NCAA tournament at the Rose Garden. Runs the court well, nice touch, good size. Didn't seem real physical, though, and didn't dominate a small New Mexico State , but did have a 16/13 game against VCU.

He'll be a better NBA player than his brother, though.
