Here's a rough draft of the latest DraftExpress mock draft. Quite a few adjustments from the last one two weeks ago: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2013/

I said a while back that outside of Len I would take Adams over any Center in this Draft (don't consider Noel a Center). And I certainly don't mind getting Nate Wolters in the second round.

Pope sure seems a lot like a slimmer Wes Matthews. Would be great off the bench, but seems a bit of a reach at 10. Maybe they think they can get a later pick for $$. He does post very nice rebounding and steals numbers.

They do seem to be giving him a lot of attention and not many have him going that high in the draft.

I think they Blazers are looking to get a SG out of this draft. A rookie PG puts too much pressure on Lillard. A rookie PF puts too much pressure on LA. (Need a couple reliable vets in those backup positions) A lottery C pick makes a big old mess at center with 2 young ones that can't start and will be fighting for PT with hopefully a solid defensive center.

So if the Blazers are going to try and develop a rookie, I think SG or SF would be the best spots to develop someone but not count on them. SG because Blazers have some help with Claver and Barton already. SF because help with Claver and Batum is young and can go big minutes.

That my pure speculation with what the Blazers are up to.

Enjoyed watching CSU center Colton Iverson work out today for #Nuggets. Very good screen-and-roll guy. http://on.nba.com/11e1uns

http://www.nba.com/nuggets/news/colorado-state-center-enjoys-workout-nuggets

Athletic and physical, the 7-foot, 260-pound Iverson, averaged 14.2 points and 9.8 rebounds while helping Colorado State advance to the round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament.

With the ability to set solid screens, he can be very effective in the pick-and-roll and has shooting range out to about 15 feet.

According to Ford, Karasev is creeping into the lotto.

MN really likes him apparently. But 9 is obviously way too high.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Enough to bring Paul. Interesting, I suppose.

TUALATIN — For the first time this offseason, Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen attended one of his team’s predraft workouts.

Yes, things are finally starting to get interesting at the practice facility in Tualatin.

Allen has never been shy about admitting his affinity for the NBA Draft, but he typically saves his predraft visits for only the most important of prospects. Well, the Blazers welcomed their most intriguing NBA Draft hopeful to date on Monday as Georgia shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope joined five other prospects for an NBA audition.

One of the Blazers’ most pressing offseason needs is adding depth at shooting guard and Caldwell-Pope has the size (6-foot-5), shooting ability and defensive prowess to mature into an NBA rotation player.

“I can bring a lot,” Caldwell-Pope said. “I play both sides of the ball. I defend. I have an offensive game. I rebound the ball. I get steals a lot. Just a lot (I) can bring to the team.”

It seems most likely that Blazers general manager Neil Olshey explores the trade market this month and dangles the team’s No. 10 overall selection as bait to lure a starting center to Portland next season. But if a trade partner doesn’t materialize and the Blazers end up using their only first-round pick, it appears Caldwell-Pope is a legitimate target.

Team performance psychologist Dana Sinclair interviewed him at the NBA draft combine in Chicago last month and, in addition to Monday’s on-court evaluation, members of the team’s management group spent time with him during a dinner Sunday evening shortly after he arrived into town.

“We had a great conversation,” Caldwell-Pope said of the dinner, which Allen did not attend. “They got to know me. I asked some questions. So it went well.”

And how about his workout on Monday? Caldwell-Pope said that although his jump shot was merely “average,” he felt good about his performance. He said the team put him and the other five prospects through a series of shooting drills, ballhandling exercises and a surplus of three-on-three and one-on-one competitions................

.............The rest of Monday’s visitors were second-round targets: Sherwood Brown, a 6-4 guard from Florida Gulf Coast; Jared Berggren, a 6-10 forward/center from Wisconsin; Brandon Davies, a 6-9 forward from BYU; Abdul Gaddy, a 6-3 guard from Washington; and Johnson, a 6-4 guard from Kansas.

Caldwell-Pope reminds me a lot of Demar Derozan. You decide whether thats a good or bad thing.

Talked to a scout last night that said Ricky Ledo is the best overall shooter in the draft. Said he's going to crush guys in workouts.

That mock is, IMO, not completely unreasonable. Len dropping to 10 would be a surprise, but MCW at 8 is probably their only pick in the top 10 that would be labeled a stretch.

Basically they swapped MCW for McCollum. I have not seen McCollum any lower than Detroit at #8. Maybe this guy knows something? Doubt it. But It would be nice if CJ was available at 10.

My main point was that I've seen many suggesting that there is "NO WAY" Len could possibly still be available at 10, and this mock shows a completely legitimate scenario in which he is.

Zeller is imo but someone may get enamored with his combine numbers.

Haven't seen much of him but that would be a compliment in my book, I actually see a lot of Derozan in Elliot Williams.

I actually agree with this. McCollum is going to be very good if he's healthy.

Yeah I would love it. Sure we would be a little short with both of them in the game at the same time, but we would still have Wes or Will to compliment CJ against those few teams where his lack of height would be an issue.

The flip side is we would have two guards that could pretty much score from anywhere on the floor.

Height (Wingspan)

Lillard: 6'1.75" (6'7.75")
McCollum: 6'2.25" (6'6.25")

By comparison:
Stephen Curry: 6'2" (6'3.5")
Jarrett Jack: 6'2.5" (6'7.5")

Raymond Felton: 5'11.5" (6'4.25")
Pablo Prigioni: 6'2"?

Mario Chalmers: 6'2"?
Dwyane Wade: 6'3.75" (6'10.75"(!))

I'd be happier if either Lillard or McCollum had any kind of reputation for defense.

McCollum is definitely intriguing, and if I had to bet, I'd probably bet that he'd be the ROY, particularly if he's taken by a team that will give him big minutes (a la Lillard).

Either that or Jimmer Fredette II...

I don't think he will be a Jimmer simply due to the fact he doesn't need the ball in his hands dribbling around for a long time to get his shot off. If he can even just catch and shoot 3s quickly at a high %, which scouts seem to think can do, then he is going to have a long career.

As we reported on the night of the draft lottery, the Mavs are likely to trade this pick at some point in an effort to clear more cap space for a run at Dwight Howard/Chris Paul.

Given NBA rules, Dallas technically can't trade the pick until after the draft, but it can reach a deal in principle before it. Sources say the Mavs have been making calls gauging interest. However, the other option is taking Saric. Dallas can get him off the cap with an agreement from Saric that he won't come to the NBA this season. The Mavs actually love Saric, so it might work for both parties. And even if they trade the pick, Saric appears to be a hot name right now. The Pelicans, Blazers, and Sixers all have significant interest in him as well and might be great trade partners.

How come we don't give the Jimmer the same benefit of a doubt that we gave to JJ, DMC, or Evans? You know.....a good player stuck in a bad situation in SacTown.......

I know, he sucks, and had "bust" written all over him from day one. But maybe we should be consistent..... or maybe not.

Those players still have been decent despite the system.

Jimmer never shined.
