And then who would draft with that 1st pick MM?

I personally think Bennett will be the best player from this draft, but without knowing anything about the top picks, either him or Oladipo. Then buy my way back into the first and draft Dieng

If you could get the Cavs to bite on the first deal and if you could get back in the 1st round and get Dieng I could live with that. Im not sure how Bennett fits with LMA and I like the potential of Oladipo.

Going on @TheHerd right now to talk NBA Draft. You can listen in here: http://espn.go.com/espnradio/playf

You can rewind if you miss it

Brief Summary:

GM's all seem to love Oladipo as their "favorite player" not necessarily the top pick. Elite defense and no nonsense with win attitude.

Cleveland really wants to make the playoffs and they dont necessarily think they have to do that through the draft. Only real hole is SF that could be filled in the draft but they would rather get a veteran in FA (Pierce) and then they can draft BPA instead of need.

They have heard that Noel's knee got a green light to play from the Cavs doctor. Ford compares him to Davis. Says we didnt see his full progress due to injury. He was getting better. Kentucky would have made the tourney and he would be similar to Davis. Likes Noel and Irving combo. Hinted it could even make Cleveland more attractive to LBJ

So basically nothing new there.

Can't recall a Draft with this much uncertainty leading up to the big day. Teams doing a great job of keeping their cards close to the vest.

Its been a pretty quiet day for rumors so far, makes me wonder if someone is up to something big.

I don't know why, but every time I see a team promoting a draft party I think they must be looking to do something fairly big.

I know that's not the case though

could it be that the Blazers are trying to put a pretty face on trading LMA away for a pair of oven mitts and a set of Ginsue knives?

The Blazers take a different guard in the most recent edition of @chadfordinsider's mock draft http://bit.ly/12nxUfD

Michael Carter-Williams
Portland Trail Blazers
COLLEGE: Syracuse
AGE: 21
HT: 6-6
WT: 184
POS: PG

Analysis: The Blazers drafted a point guard last year, but they wouldn't hesitate to do it again if Carter-Williams slides. They'd prefer McCollum or Caldwell-Pope, but Carter-Williams would do. He has great size for his position, which should allow the Blazers to play both him and Lillard on the floor together. Zeller and Steven Adams are also possibilities here.
Sounds like Ford is putting Carter-Williams here simply because both McCollum and Caldwell-Pope off the board by No. 10. And while I'm sure they could do much worse than Carter-Williams, drafting a guard who can't shoot to pair with a guard who is already drawing the full attention of opposing defenses isn't ideal, at least in the short term. If Carter-Williams can improve his jumper, which can be done, to go along with his size and athleticism, he could end up being an absolute gem at No. 10.

Ford also extended his newest mock draft all the way through the second round. He's got Portland selecting Arizona's outside shooting power forward Grant Jerrett, who worked out for the Trail Blazers early in the pre-draft process, with the No. 39 pick. After that, he's got Portland taking two Europeans, Nemanja Nedovic and Livio Jean-Charles, with the No. 40 and No. 45 picks, respectively. Ford says those players would end up staying for at least another season on their current teams. I think it's much more likely that one or more of those second round picks are traded.

I would be shocked at MCW at 10. I think Ford missed it on this one. Not even close to BPA in almost every analysis and not a great fit either. Not sure what motivated him.

Cavs asking price for the 1st pick is at least a lottery pick, future 1st, and a prospect. #NBADraft

Sounds like a lot for a draft without an obvious potential super star

ESPN's Chad Ford right now on conference call: "I don’t see a team giving up the talent CLE is looking for for the #1 pick in the draft."

As I reported last week, Magic are completing their predraft workouts with Cody Zeller. Zeller is working out again today.

Odd, 2nd workout for Zeller for the Magic at the 2 spot

if they like Zeller I'm guessing they want to trade down.

Minny supposedly really wants to move up - trade?

Man, I am not big on MCW, but some of the analytics guys REALLY like him....

In Michael Carter-Williams we have a player who is almost certain to have a long NBA career based on his stats. His raw skills give him an outside chance to eventually become one of the top PGs in the league and a perennial all-star, which is something that can be said about only a few prospects each year. That makes him an intriguing prospect. Right now his arc is somewhere between journeyman and perennial all-star. Because I generally prefer upside in prospects I would have to rank him as the top PG available in the 2013 draft. The only reason to draft Trey Burke ahead of him would be if it were for a team that absolutely needed immediate help at PG and the draft was the only place they could fill this need.

That isn’t to say there’s no risk in drafting such a player. Any team taking Carter-Williams has to realize that he’s a developmental pick with who won’t have much immediate impact and may never reach his full potential. I certainly understand why a team would pass on such a player. In 1997 the Celtics drafted future great PG Chauncey Billups with the 3rd overall pick. Billups was traded in February of his rookie year for veteran Kenny Anderson who gave the Celtics 3 so-so years. That’s not much of a payoff for the 3rd overall pick. Billups’ early career is why, despite the upside, drafting Michael Carter-Williams too high in the lottery could become a similar draft day disaster.

but at #10?, maybe not so much....

Listening to Simmons and Ford, I'm sold on Oladipo. I thought Zeller was the better player at Indiana, but I can see why everyone likes VO so much. I'd give up Wes/Nic to get him. Not LA.

Sounds like the nice thing with Oladipo is that even if he didnt get better you still have an athletic defender at worst but he also has as much upside as anyone in the draft. He is a win/win.

I compare his mentality to Wes' actually, but he's obviously far more athletic. Good guy to take a chance on.

Oladipo is the guy I want paired with Lillard.

I'm rooting for Olshey to find a way to get Oladipo plus either Len or Adams.
