Now that we have day one of college basketball behind us, we can start talking about prospects like Nerlens Noel.

I thought he looked fairly disappointing, not only offensively, but on the glass, going against Len. I know it's a long season, but I just didn't see where they hype was. I see him having the potential to be a great player, but from this sample of one game, he looks like he needs a lot more work than Anthony Davis did.

Another player of note from the game - Alex Len. All I've heard all off-season was how greatly he improved his game, and he really showed it tonight - 23 pts, 12 rbs, and 4 blks for the 7'1" Ukrainian.

Hell, Alex Len looked like the best pro prospect in the game. He wasn't just playing like a stiff. He had a way better nose for the ball than I was expecting.

Batum was, at one point, ranked #3 in his draft by DraftExpress.

I still would love to have MKG on my team.

Does anyone think that with Shabazz being ineligible he'll have the Brandon Jennings-like drop to #10 or so? Jennings was supposed to be Iverson-like and go really high before he went to Italy.

All I know is, that Nerlens Noel kid got SCHOOLED last night byt some big white boy from Maryland! I mean really schooled!

Noel-4 pts/9 rebs
Alex Len-23pts/12 rebs

Noel has a very narrow frame. I really don't think he'll be able to play the 5 in the NBA. Nice prospect but nowhere near Davis IMO.

I'm firmly on these bandwagons:

-Bazz Muhammad
-Cody Zeller

Noel looked good tonight in the loss. I can see why he's gotten top 5 hype, but #1 might be a stretch a this point. He really needs to put a lot of work into his offensive game. He has great defensive instincts though, the type that you can't teach.

Alex Poythress, on the other hand, is a certified BEAST offensively, and the scariest part is that he'll dominate even though his post game is still questionable. He needs just as much work as Noel does in terms of refining his post game, but he far overshadowed Noel tonight in terms of his physicality, athleticism, and offensive awareness.

If the draft were held tomorrow, I'd have a hard time picking between Poythress and Noel. The only things that gives Noel the edge are his size and defensive instincts, as well as Poythess' tweener height and skillset. If you threw Poythress an extra two inches though, he'd be unstoppable.

Agreed on Poythress. I really like the kid, not just because of the way he plays, but because of who he is off the court as well. IMO, he's a top 5 pick.

Watching Indiana/Georgetown right now. Zeller is such a baller!

We wouldn't have minutes or either of these cats on our team.

@bigjohnNEP

My sources confirm that Jack Taylor is now the sure fire #4 pick in the upcoming draft.......heard the Blazers are willing to trade Aldridge to move up!#shortwhiteboy

Bazz and Zeller look to be out of our draft range at this point but looking more mid first round, Ben McLemore and Marcus Smart are two guards that are intriguing.

Especially Smart. Can handle and play pg in spurts, score and play great D. Seems like a perfect fit with Lillard and Matthews.

Not so sure now we'll even have a pick next year. Last season, we won the equivalent of 35 games, and that put is in the #11 spot.

Our draft pick is top 12 protected this year, and we could easily fall to #13.

it's top 12 until unprotected in 2016.

It occurs to me that one nice thing about having 5 solid starters and no good bench players is that we should have no notion of drafting for "need", because we need someone everywhere! :)

Good shit. We should be able to keep that pick this year, and we probably won't need it the year after when we're in the playoffs.

Outside McAdoo, Chad Ford hates this draft.

A number of NBA GMs -- including the Celtics' Danny Ainge, the Jazz's Kevin O'Connor, Bulls' Gar Forman, the Warriors Bob Myers and the Blazers Neil Olshey -- were in attendance. Overall, they are seeing the same phenomenon here that they are seeing everywhere. This is a down season, talent wise, in the NCAA. "If Cody Zeller, Shabazz Muhammad, Nerlens Noel and James McAdoo are your top four picks, it's going to be an ugly, ugly draft."

Other than McAdoo, I couldn't find a scout or GM convinced there was another first-round prospect here. If Kabongo plays, that could be two. But that explains, in part, why the field is so weak.

Footwork & touch.

Sounds like the same ol' shit we hear almost every year... everybody predicts the upcoming draft is going to suck in November/December, then March rolls around and they completely change their tune.

I've always liked McAdoo's game. Kind of a hybrid 4. Reminds me of James Worthy a little bit.

Your boy Zeller isn't as good as everybody says Zags!

Zeller blocking the shit out of folks right now. He'll be the #1 pick. Holy shit, what a put back dunk. Fuck Shabazz and Noel, Zeller's better than both.

Indiana's got a great team. Ollidipo can ball, too.

HCP,

Get on a highlight package of Zeller for this game against UNC.

Zags, you can only be right about 1 big dumpy white player (see Kevin Love) every 10 years.......
