Advice: GIVE UP ON OLADIPO. I assume that's the reason everybody wants to move up. Well, everybody wants him, so he'll be gone by pick 4. And Cho never traded pick #2 despite everyone wanting it last year, so... forget it.

Take a solid player with #10 - like Schröder or Dieng. Just use this criterion: "do I believe that when this draft is "re-done" by nerds in the future that this player would be in the top ten?" I think the answer with both of those is "yes". Dieng, like Festus Ezeli last year, is being undervalued, and Schröder is the German Rajon Rondo.

That's like Leonard over Ezeli.

I'm wary of someone who looks better in combines than in actual games. Plus I think Dieng is valuable for his character and intelligence over and above his natural physical profile. Adams smacks of Olowokandi.

Well said.

that said, adams over dieng could be great, could suck

they both kinda look like busts to me

not IMO, Dieng at worst will be a solid rotation player, Adams has more upside and will take a lot longer. Dieng defensively is ready for 10-15 mintues a night

Adams is a large, coordinated human who wants to make money at an activity that overpays for that kind of thing (partly because he has a huge, poor family). Could turn out well, might not. Dieng might've actually started out that way but he's much farther along and has demonstrated skills that some players never developed. Apart from being a great defender (not just shotblocker) he is a very good passer. That shows a real understanding of the game.

With the success he's having, I think a lot of people are on the lookout for "the next Roy Hibbert". Dieng's the closest thing in this draft, I think. He's smaller (but more athletic) and doesn't have the post moves, but he's got the intelligence that I think really sets Hibbert apart. From what I've read, Dieng's leadership abilities are off the charts, too.

thats like a good thing

Mark Jackson gave Ezeli extended minutes in a playoff series. If we'd've made the playoffs I guarantee you Leonard would have been glued to the bench. Ezeli went lower because his numbers were relatively pedestrian, but he knows how to play. Leonard does not. (He knows how to do some basketball-related things, like shoot, but he is pretty clueless, certainly on D.)

According to http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2013/
Zeller will still be available at 10. I realize he may not be the defender that the others are but watching the video you have to be impressed with his skills and athletic ability. I would not pass on him, but my guess is that he is gone too.

If you use this mock as a guide I think the only guy they are wrong in the top 9 is Zeller. (he should be there instead of Shabaaz) Other than that they have the top 9 right. Maybe not the exact order but the 9 players.

I've always been very high on Ezeli, but he did not play well any of the times I saw him play.

And I think Leonard could play at least 11 minutes a game for us if we were in the playoffs.

I totally disagree, this draft has a LOT of differing opinions amonst the mockers and I think that will reflect the GM's views, therefore there IMO is no "set" or even likely draft order, expecially after the top 5 or so picks IMO.

Didn't he say he's a power forward? I don't want more pussies fighting over who gets to be PF.

Kostas for Larkin, would you do it?

Kosta rapidly developed into the best young player in Europe.

I just think Larkin's speed and shooting would be huge for this bench unit.

PG: Larkin
SG: Mathews

Intriguing (bench) backcourt with this kind of speed and shooting.

I would not mind any of these top 9. So if one of them were not to make it who would it be? Noel, Porter, McLemore, Oladipo, Bennett, Len, Burke, McCollum, Zeller

Dude, whats the obsession with Festus? Its like you have a fetish for any scrub Warriors center with a Swahili name. I remember a similar infatuation with Epke Udoh a couple years ago.

 I agree. This Ezeli fapfest makes no sense. At best he's a backup. Absolute best case is an Ian Mahinmi type.

"Larkin would be doubling up at the position but he would be a value pick and insurance in case the boom or bust MCW selection doesn't go smoothly. Larkin recorded the highest vertical leap ever at the draft combine with a 44 inch running jump. He was not far behind Trey Burke in terms of being a team leader and floor general on the college level and there are a number of scouts that actually prefer Larkin to Burke as a prospect. Larkin lacks Burke's resume and size, but shows much better isolation and separation ability off the dribble. As the son of hall of fame shortstop Barry Larkin, Shane has the pedigree to overcome a significant lack of size." --nbadraft.net

Do people really use this as a reason for anything? What the fuck is his "pedigree" going to do to overcome his lack of size?

Yeah, I agree. Kind of a dumb argument. His elite speed is what will help him overcome his 5'11" height.

Festus (snicker) only got playoff PT because David Lee was injured.

Well, this may not be the nicest thing to say but if you want facts, the Warriors had much more success with Lee sidelined.

Oladipo vs. Schröder:

BONUS SHOTS: One of the best workouts has been taking place in a Washington D.C. gym. That’s where ex-Indiana star Victor Oladipo, a lottery lock, has been going against Germany point guard Dennis Schroeder, a potential lottery selection. ... Trevor Mbakwe, who began his college career at Marquette and ended it at Minnesota, raised some eyebrows with a stellar performance at the Brooklyn combine. ... Duke guard Seth Curry, the son of former Bucks guard Dell Curry, is recovering from a stress fracture in right shin and won’t work out for any teams. Nevertheless, several teams have shown interest in him, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston and New York.

Re: Ezeli. I must say I didn't follow the Warriors much, but whenever I checked in he seemed to be in and they seemed to be going on a run. I see that he averaged just over 11 mpg. Paltry, yes, but he was drafted THIRTIETH in this year's draft. For comparison, check out the players picked before him:
Code:
23. Hawks John Jenkins SG
24. Cavaliers Jared Cunningham SG
25. Grizzlies Tony Wroten Jr. PG
26. Pacers Miles Plumlee PF
27. Heat Arnett Moultrie PF
28. Thunder Perry Jones PF
29. Bulls Marquis Teague PG
30. Warriors Festus Ezeli C

The point is, he was low-rated because he's got no offense, but his defense gets ignored. Dieng is much better than Ezeli on O AND D.

Believe that was the site you kept going to last year that also said they would take Jae Crowder in the lottery.

To be fair Jae Crowder played a lot better this year than a lot of players taken in the lottery.

I think Wage of Wins is almost like the bible of the draft. Pretty legit.

Yes, that's right. Now go ahead and list 12 players from the last draft that are better than Crowder.
