JJ was terrible there.

Jimmer's most definitely a real short 2, but otherwise, he's fairly similar numbers wise to what Redick was early on. Big issue being, Redick is 6'4" in socks, Jimmer is 6'. So you'd want a teller PG to play alongside him.
Still, he can shoot. I'd take him but wouldn't want to give up anything for him.

One guy who's turning people's heads? Isaiah Canaan. PG has been working out really well. Could have a Mario Chalmers type role with a team.

If N.O is that interested in Saric, surely he will be there at 10. What can we give them to swap picks. Just 4 positions. That should be easy.

Saric has been playing great in the last few games. He's another prospect creeping into the top 10 and maybe out of reach.

Kind of a no lose situation for us if that happens. If Saric moves into the top 9, that moves someone else down a spot. To us....

Jimmer had a 14.6 PER last year and shot 42% from 3pt. It's not like he's a bust. He can shoot the ball well. The problem is he's not an NBA PG, so he'll need to be a Craig Hodges or Anthony Morrow who comes in and busts a zone or unclogs the middle.

Maybe it's gamesmanship. Maybe it's good poker strategy. But the whisper coming from One Center Court in recent days has been that Portland isn't currently enamored by any one player and if they were drafting today they'd deal the pick. And to that, I'd encourage the Blazers to take a look in the mirror and acknowledge they're among the thinnest teams in the NBA. If they don't recognize that there's someone in this draft -- yes, even available 10th -- who can help coach Terry Stotts win, then this franchise must be disillusioned. Oregonian

Well in theory we would trade it for a rotation player right? Otherwise I would agree with his take.

This franchise is disillusioned if they don't recognize that they for sure can get someone at the 10 spot who will help Stotts win next year? This whole draft, from the very top, is a crap shoot. There are no guarantees and Canzano a fool to just bank on the fact someone who can contribute right away will be available at the 10.

I've always said that there will be some players who will come in and contribute and some will surprise, but Canzano is trying to spin the thinnest bench into making it sound easy to pick someone who can help. There will be busts in this draft and the potential to pick a bust with a lottery pick is high this year. Add that if the Blazers aren't really in love with anyone, what are the odds the right player will be available at 10 and the Blazers pick it.

Basically the 10 pick is in no way a guarantee to help the team win . . as Canzano so easily predicts from the cheap seats

What separates Oladipo and Mclemore from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope? He seems every bit as good as them.

You're not the only one asking the question. The obvious answer is elite athleticism. Both Oladipo and McLemore have it. Caldwell-Pope is a good athlete, but he's not nearly as explosive as Oladipo and McLemore. Oladipo's a better defender. McLemore is a better shooter. But Caldwell-Pope is the most well rounded of them. I don't think he gets past the Wolves at No. 9.
 
That's an effed up draft when a fringe lottery guy is a better all-around player than the two guys largely pegged for the top pick.

True, but the differences are stated as being pretty thin, with the other two rated ahead of him largely on the basis of athleticism. The better all-around skill set sounds like equally good odds of panning out.

He has the perfect NBA center body. Big, long arms, athletic. If he wasn't so Raw (very raw), could shoot free throws, and had a motor he would be the first pick. Great project pick for a team that can wait for 4-5 years (if you believe he can gain a consistent motor).

I get all that, but he was the same size and had the same athleticism 2 weeks ago, why did he shoot up the draft board. I don't remember exactly where he was, but I don't remember seeing him in the top twenty.

Don't we already have that in a guy who can shoot free throws? We got him for the 11th pick last year.

They've got to throw in some surprise picks otherwise why would people keep checking their site?

Yeah, like Leonard without the offensive touch.

I think people believe that Adams will be a solid rebounder and shot blocker--even though that is in theory at this point.
 
Comparisons for Dieng: Ekpe Udoh or Bismack Biyombo.

I think people would take those as insults, but Udoh went #6 and Biyombo went #7, and both play center, even though both are smaller than Dieng. (And that was in "better" drafts.)

I think I'm reconciled to taking Dieng at #10.

(Udoh actually had easily the best +/- when he was with the Warriors, which is part of the reason the Bucks insisted on him being included in the Bogut trade. I think he's been squeezed out by Larry Sanders' meteoric rise.)
