Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Anthony Davis vs Tim Duncan.

This is a sick matchup. Vindicating me for making NO one of my LPBB choice teams

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Davis is a monster. He's easily a top 10 player right now in my eyes

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Nuggets are struggling tonight, but I find it funny that they've won 5 straight prior to tonight after Andre Miller left the team for "personal reasons."

I'm don't think hes quite there yet but theres only 3 guys, LBJ, Durant, Paul George; who I'd consider swapping him for long-term.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Jazz taking care of Nuggs......... Spurs barely get by Pelicans........Knicks vs Suns is a great game! Love this league.

1. Bron
2. KD
3. CP
4. Dwight
5. George
6. Westbrook
7. Love
8. LA
9. Steph
10. Davis?

Maybe borderline top 10. He's in that set with Harden/LA/Curry/Parker/Melo, etc

But he's climbing up that list for sure. Hope he stays healthy

Miller wasn't playing anyways...

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

I've liked Alec Burks since he was in college. Guy can ball. Breakout game tonight with 34 points. He's cracked the starting roto.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Yeah he was.

He flipped out on Shaw cause he had a couple DNP-CD's and playing less than 10 minutes a game before that.

Hard to blame losses on an end of the rotation guy. Kinda like how people here think wins and losses really matter between playing Leonard or Robinson.

He flipped out on Shaw because he had a temper tantrum while getting a "healthy scratch" for the first time in years. Most players wouldn't care about such things, or if they did, they would let the coach know it matters to them. Instead, Miller had a temper tantrum, and it turns out Shaw said had he known about it, he would have talked to Dre about it before making the decision to bench him. That's kind of what Dre does.

He had the longest active Iron man streek in the league and has never received a healthy DNPCD before. It was a big pride thing for Miller. I think its bush league by Shaw not to inform Miller before hand he was out of the rotation and would not play. I'd expect any coach to inform a player If they are no longer in the rotation or have lost their minutes to someone else.

I don't think that happens as much as you think it does. The healthy scratch thing is a made-up thing that only a player like Miller would care about, anyhow.

He has more blow-ups at coaches than he has wins in playoff series. I ended up tolerating him as a Blazer, but now that he's not a Blazer, I'll slam him as much as I want to slam him.

.

Probably doesn't happen often but its something I think should happen a lot more. Its a mutual respect thing to let your players know what is going, if they are getting their role changed or cut or getting moved to the bench etc.

Coaches don't always know exactly who will and wont play. Maybe he wasn't sure he'd bench Miller. He already admitted he didn't know about the streak. I think thats good; A coach has too much to worry about as is the last thing he should keep up on is obscure statistics that don't impact the game.

A reasonable adult would've said "hey coach I got this streak can I get in the game" but Miller instead chose a poor way to handle it.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

I think they have a pretty good idea of the top 8. And Miller knows he should be in that top 8 if it weren't for some bullshit. That's pretty much why he's never had a DNP-CD before.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Thunder about to lose, Blazers ahead of them in standings now. Grizzlies making a move.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

And that is it. The Thunder fall below us.

spurs 30-8
blazers 28-9
thunder 28-10

With a game against the Spurs on the horizon, we can pass the Spurs soon.

go blazers

Is it me or is Jarrett Jack playing really bad this season. Everytime I watch the Cavs, he plays like shit!

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Damn, I love that the Knicks beat the Heat, then turn around and lose to the Bobcats. Every team loses and wins games they shouldn't.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

The Golden State Warriors have acquired Jordan Crawford and Marshon Brooks in a trade with the Boston Celtics.

Dubs just solidified their bench. Nice move for them.

They're very similar players. High chucking quotient, low efficiency, and irrationally confident. Not sure how this helps them. Unless they plan on running Crawful as a PG with Curry off ball to replicate what they had with Jack... that won't work. I see this much ado about nothing.

As far as what we can/need to do, if we can pry Dre to replace Mo and further develop TRob into a serviceable big, we should be better than GS.

There can only be one Crawful, and Jordan ain't it.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

They're both the same to me. Only difference is Jordan dunked on Bron and the evidence destroyed.

This trade is huge for GS. The problem they have is that their starters, when playing together, are much better that the sum of their parts. As of a couple days ago, lineups with both curry and igoudala had a net rating of +20 or something like that so Jackson plays them together and then does a hockey style substitution and puts in a full bench lineup, giving up the lead that the starters built. The offense gets stagnant with that lineup since there is no one on the floor who can can handle or create for others and barnes, who should be able to create his own shot, has played like shit this year. Crawford is a chucker but at least he can get his own shot off and carry some of the load for 15 minutes when there is no one else to score. His chucking should make barnes more effective as well since he won't be the focal point of the bench mob anymore. And I was surprised to see that Crawford seems to be a decent playmaker this year averaging 6.7 asst/36 and a very high assist %, although I suspect that has a lot to do with Stevens and with the freedom Jackson will give him he will go back to his chucking way. Either way, I'm fine with it; it is exactly what the bench needs.

He's saving it up for tonight.
