What about McCollum? He have 1 more year contract. We cant lose him, he have one of the best bright future in the league

We offer him an extension before the end of next season, or sign after next season...he's not a free agent this summer, so he will be on the stack later

I would not be surprised if we ended up with Al Jefferson. He is very similar to Greg Monroe in the ways he scores and the low post presence he provides. He is weak defensively and older than Our current core pieces, but he showed how much of a team player he was in Charlotte this year by coming off the bench for a large portion of the season. Obviously for us he would start, but I think it shows he could fit in with the culture of the team.

If we miss on the Whitesides, Howard's, and Horfords, which is very likely IMO, he is in the next tier and can add something to our team.

If I'm OKC, I'm getting revenge for the Kanter deal last year. I would make a huge offer to Crabbe at 12:01. We can't wait, because the clock to match starts ticking right away.

If it's a $14M/year offer and we match, we immediately lose $14M in cap space.
Yeah they wouldn't be and to resign Durant if they did that. If the option was us paying Crabbe $14M or them paying Crabbe $14M and surely losing Durant, then I'm taking the latter.
Olshey would screw them with Kanter, then they'd screw themselves by trying to get revenge

So, they renounce Durant at 12:01? They have $70 mil without Durant caphold on the books for next year. Durant is making $20 mil this year, so I assume his cap hold is a bit more, so that's $90+.

But, you also said

I don't think we have to worry about OKC giving a big offer to Crabbe, or anyone else - they're kinda stuck.
Doesn't have to be OKC. We played stupid cap tricks with them... Someone surely will with us.

Our ideal situation would be to sign Crabbe to a big extension last. Theoretically, we can sign guys using all our cap space minus $1 and then extend Crabbe for any amount, going over the cap.

I'd take Gasol on a decent deal, maybe a 2 year deal. He played great this season. I think he'd like this cast of teammates. He'd be a great mentor for our bigs. I've always been a big fan, except when he was a Laker.

No way man, Chief is a baller. You'll win a championship with a guy like Chief on your roster.

I don't usually like to give Kingspeed credit.... but he's been pretty much spot on about Aminu. All his numbers are up across the board, and he has provided great defense throughout the playoffs. Hard to hate on that.

Edit- and I'll add that the problem is that we're counting on Chief to be our third scorer right now, and Chief shouldn't be our third scorer. Chief should be our fourth or fifth scorer.

I'd love to keep Meyers but I wont be surprised if someone overpays him and we don't match. I don't think Olshey is going to stray from his objective, and that probably means not paying Leonard more than they offered at the end of last season. I think they probably told Meyers that, which is why there was the whole "I'm buying into myself" situation. There are plenty of teams not near the level of contention as us who are still looking for floor spacing bigs, which means other teams will probably be more willing to overlook his weaknesses.

Well, and if it comes down to only keeping two of the four players, I think it's Crabbe and Harkless. Those guys have stepped up big in the playoffs, plus Crabbe has a tiny cap hold. If we have to renounce two guys to be able to max someone out, it's gonna be Meyers and Hendo.

For me, Plumlee is someone I'd dangle. Maybe Aminu. Maybe Vonleh. It really depends on what we're going after.

I like Plumlee a lot, but yeah, if he's a piece that can bring in a star player, you gotta do it.

Somebody needs to start making gifs of Chiefs chest bumps after he makes huge plays. Dude plays with that fire and intensity that you've gotta love as a fan.

Plumlee will have a ton of value for a team that's trying to clear cap space for a big name guy.
Example: Houston and Miami if their Centers leave. Chicago as a cheap replacement for Noah and/or Gasol (I expect them to chase a SF). New York and the Lakers are other possibilities.

Keep in mind if we can sign Hendo right away for $6M, his cap hold is cut roughly in half.

I just look at it this way, if we end up signing a center, whether it's Howard or Whiteside or Horford or whoever, then Plumlee becomes the odd man out. He'd have to come off the bench, and I like Davis a lot better coming off the bench.

I like 22 year old Harkless' upside more. They're like the polar opposite, as far as style. Aminu is erratic and unpredictable, Harkless is stead and under control. Quite honestly, Harkless versatility and upside has made him my favorite Blazer.

Hmm.... I just don't know if he's going to do that. This is probably Hendo's last shot at a decent contract.

I wonder of there's a way to trade into the top 7 without giving up too much. Say Philidelphia ends up with the 4th pick and offers it for Aminu, Vonleh, and a future 1st. Do you do it?

You can see the New York in him. It's that resting thug face.

Not gonna happen.

Harkless is a boss, he's not going anywhere either. But that doesn't mean you can't keep Chief. They've shown they can be successful on the floor together.

Can't sign Durant AND Hendo. Would have to release Hendo. His cap hold is too much.

But I thought cap holds were only for restricted free agents?

Negative. There's two different things, although they're not mutually exclusive.

RFA means you can match any offer AND you have bird rights so you can go above your cap to do it.

UFA with bird rights (which is what Hendo is) means you can go above your cap to re-sign them. To keep the bird rights you have a cap hold. If you renounce your bird rights, the cap hold goes away.

So theoretically we could renounce his bird rights, but still ultimately resign him, or does waiving his bird rights take our right to resign him away
