Not at all. He said Portland is a good fit for Biyombo thanks to Dame and CJ, but Biyombo isn't necessarily a great fit for Portland given Davis and Plumlee. Makes perfect sense.

And that's the problem with Biyombo. His complete lack of an offensive game makes him best suited to being a backup, but he will command starter money. He's a great role player, but like Plumlee and Davis, he's an incomplete player. He's a better defender than either Davis or Plumlee, but even worse on offense.

Given the way teams clamp down on Dame and C.J., especially in the playoffs, I really don't think we want to be playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end.

If you could merge Okafor and Noel into a single player, then you'd have something.
 
CJ isnt going anywhere everyone. You need to think of trade scenarios that dont include him We are not getting KD, or LBJ for him and those are the only players I think NO would release him for at this point.

Its all about Whiteside!!!!
 
We have a shot at whiteside. But ultimately i think we get howard.
 
Big men are abundant in this free agency. Guards are not.

I don't see Boston moving the #3 except for CJ.
 
I think our best trade asset (that doesn't weaken the team) is cap space, with a player or two thrown in. It doesn't seem like that is what Philly is looking for.

If we can't land a player that moves the needle using that cap space this summer, what do you think about a mid-season trade, perhaps at the deadline? Those trades don't often work as well as hoped, with Sheed to DET being a notable exception. I think by the deadline, some teams will realize they aren't going anywhere and may be looking to dump salary.

So, I think there may be some talent available that we could exchange for our cap space, but the question is, how would a mid-season trade impact our team's morale and on court performance? This season it was chemistry and team unity that helped the team over achieve and exceed expectations. For a young team they grew a lot during the playoffs. Which I think makes them better equipped to accept a mid-season trade next year than they would have been this year.

Of course, it would have to be for the right players that fills a need and fits in with out team.

I've gotten to the 'I's and so far the only point of interest is GP2 shares an agent with Damian. Howard and horford don't share and agent with anyone Neil has done business with.
 
I think I'm one of the few who would trade CJ, but I certainly wouldn't deal whim without getting something significant in return, and by significant I'm talking about a star/superstar.

Boston actually would be a good partner, but not with Philly as the third team.

CJ and Plums to Boston.
#3 pick and Vonleh to Sac.
Boogie and Smart to Portland.

Use our cap space to (hypothetically) sign Horford.

Dame
Smart
Aminu
Horford
Boogie

With Crabbe/Harkless/Davis as the main components to our bench. Probably would have to let Leonard go to free up enough space to get Boogie AND Horford.

Pairing Boogie and Dame creates one of the best guard/big man combos in the league. Boogie could arguably be the best big man in the NBA. Horford would be great at being the third scorer, and he can defend in the post.

Losing CJ would suck, but Smart is a much better defender than CJ and he fills up the stat sheet. I think in our system he could thrive as a scorer as well. The combo of Smart/Crabbe would fill the void left by CJ.
 
Looks like Nic's agent may have accomplished his goal:

Batum’s agent had previously indicated that his client, a free agent who just had a terrific first season with the Charlotte Hornets, would be in the United States resolving his NBA future and that the paperwork would not be finalized in time for him to play. However, it is understood that the French player and the Hornets will quickly agree terms on a new deal and that could could give France enough time to obtain insurance for Batum and allow him to take part in some of the OQT games.

Something like this is about the only way I see us trading CJ. It must net a DMC type of player.
