Write it down. Collins will start, or at least play starter type minutes next season.

I am excited about his long term ceiling. But he needs to get stronger to start IMO. If Noah improves over the summer....he starts, but Collins will still get minutes.
Plus you have Aminu who can still defend the perimeter.

Vonleh is firmly ahead of both picks as of today. However, he is gonna have to earn his minutes with this competition.

'Firmly' ahead of Collins? You act like Noah has even really contributed much of anything in his 2 years with the team. He's shown glimpses. But its going to be an open tryout for the depth chart during training camp.

The coaching staff doesn't owe Noah shit. They gave him almost a full year starting and he was almost non-existent.

I love it.

1) ZCollins is the one player I hoped we'd come away with. Despite all the hype around this draft, I see it as a very "meh" class. I expect 4-5 of the top-9 to have Dion Waiters-like careers. Collins has everything we need, has all the upside of the guys picked ahead of him, and fewer of the glaring weaknesses.

2) The player and the forum reaction reminds me a lot of the Lillard draft. Lillard was the guy I felt we had to take even if it was a reach, and that worked out pretty well.

I wouldn't have minded taking a flier on Bell with the 26th pick, even though I could easily see him being a journeyman-at-best, and am lukewarm on Swanigan. I sort of see the logic to that pick, though. We need to build a winner around Dame/CJ/Nurk. Collins might be a couple years away from consistently producing at that level, so why not reach a bit for a low-ceiling, ready to produce guy like Swanigan?

Noah knows how the NBA plays and is used to the speed of the game, Collins doesn't. Noah also really started to come along when Nurk came into the picture.

They're all going to bounce off Nurk in practice...the big man scrimmages are going to be fun! We have a lot of bigs now

A couple things from Olsheys's presser. He thinks Swanigan will be good at "team defense". He seems to envision Collins as a backup center and only playing PF with Nurkic in limited situations.

I'm not too happy after reading more on Swanigan; seems like he won't be able to play any defense at all. not big enough or quick enough for inside; can't move well enough for perimeter D.
I watched some film on him tonight....he's got a lot of offensive skills..he's got a great wingspan...as a rookie he'll play about as much as Tim Quarterman has anyway but hopefully he's coachable

Vonleh is firmly ahead of both picks as of today. However, he is gonna have to earn his minutes with this competition.

Vonleh may be ahead of Collins by default, but I wouldn't say there's anything at all firm about his position. He hasn't shown much in his years in the NBA--Collins has a great chance to leapfrog him.

Olshey said no money for a second round pick. I wonder if he could have packaged next year's first with Leonard and got one 2nd rounder back. Or maybe packaged with Davis and got 2 back?

Bouche is a great shooter but my god he's a twig....I think the NBA will break him...

I love Boucher. His story and the fact he graduated after living in a car in Toronto.........I wish him the best. But in reality he can't even shoot. (Maybe in a Manute Bol type of style) but I doubt he makes it in the NBA.

I'm hoping Olshey is looking at shoring up the veteran side of the roster now....I definitely see us trading some pieces this summer

Me too....I watched him at a home game against Colorado last time and he was a real sparkplug....

Speaking to Swanigan.

If he isn't a bust, Nurk, Collins and Vonleh is a nice rotation.

IMO, too many role players. Thete are gonna be some infighting. NO still has to clear salary
Hopefully he'll use the G league and park two players there from time to time...the rules are changing in regards to that...don't know the details but you can carry 17 guys now and rotate them from the G league or something to that effect...Neil mentioned 2 way contracts and Pat only under contract until July ?

This is what he should've done.

My early guess: If Vonleh continues to not look at the basket, Collins will probably overtake him at the break.

The draft was probably not the best time to trade Leonard or Davis for picks in this draft, for a couple of reasons.

Yes, our two rookies should make at least one of Leonard and Davis expendable, eventually. However, let’s wait and see how the rookies develop into their roles before we trade a vet away.

Then there is always the injury bug to watch out for. Let’s not leave ourselves short of veteran bigs until the rookies show what they can do, just incase someone gets hurt.

By the trade deadline, we should have some idea of how well the rookies are going to work out, and which players we can trade. Add in other teams that are looking to fill in roster holes dues to injuries, and both Davis and Leonard probably will have more trade value then than now.

Plus trading them for future draft picks reduces our team’s salary more than trading them for a pick in this draft would have.

I like what NO did today. He went after and got the player he wanted, and played it safe the rest of the way. And he left himself reasonable options going forward to improve the team.

That fricken SUCKS! I want to see him playing WITH Nurk.
