Next MondayWhen does training camp start? Figured it'd be today since the first preseason game is only 12 days away.

Well, well, well, looks like ET is all ready to go!
If i remember correctly, camp is usually about 4 or 5 days long. When does training camp start? Figured it'd be today since the first preseason game is only 12 days away.

Is that normal to start training camp a week before the first preseason game? Always thought they started two weeks before the first preseason game haha
Portland still has two roster spots. They’re the only team in the nba without at least one two way player. I expect that to change this week.
Ahhh. Signing a two way player. That's as close as we get to signing a real contributor to the squad. Should be worth a couple of threads of excitement.
For the next few years, Olshey fanboys will cite the next scrub signing as evidence that he's a good GM. This goes on year after year after year...
He can be a bad GM and still be strong in one department.

So what are the “battles” going to be, using the current roster?
Backup point guard: ...
Backup power forward/center: ...
Leonard and Layman won't get time in the regular season. The battles for minutes then, and thus the preseason experiments Stotts tries, will be
Harkless vs. Swanigan
Stauskas vs. Turner
Curry vs. Baldwin IV
So what are the “battles” going to be, using the current roster?
Backup point guard: Guessing it’ll be CJ with Turner assuming a larger ballhandling/playmaking role with the second unit. Would love to see Baldwin play but he’s not a fit with Turner, spacing wise, unless he’s really improved his outside shot. We all know Turner ain’t getting benched. Another option could be taking CJ off the second unit and having Curry the “PG” if someone like Trent/Stauskas/Simons force their way on the court.
Backup power forward/center: Meyers, Biggie, and Layman should all get an opportunity to win a job playing next to Collins. I’m guessing Meyers will get first crack, god help us. We need help here, but I’m not counting on Olshey finding it. When we let rotation players go, we usually just give undeserving players automatic minutes, because they’ve been around for two years, or whatever.

Stott's usually experiments with combo's for the first half of the season, I actually heard him say so last year on courtside. This why you have training camp and preseason games to find out what the early rotation will at the start of the season. There should be some good competition during camp.

I don't see the Lakers finishing above 500 this year.Yes, that's standard for all coaches. For elite teams, "The regular season is just the preseason of the real season, the playoffs." I only half-believed it, but that's what Laker fans used to brag, way back when they were above .500. I no longer believe those losers were ever above .500.
I disagree a lot. Heres why, Dame is basically what keeps the Blazers afloat and he got them to 49 wins. Lebron is better than Dame, Lebron is an unreal basketball talent who will eventually slow down but so far hasnt shown signs of it. If he’s motivated to win, they’ll be a playoff team and a good one.I don't see the Lakers finishing above 500 this year.
They are not that deep and James imo, will impeded the growth of some of the youngsters.
Yeah, The NBA is FANTASTIC!I disagree a lot. Heres why, Dame is basically what keeps the Blazers afloat and he got them to 49 wins. Thats why they play the games though, I genuinely hope you’re right.
Well I dont believe hes got a shot at winning a title in LA, but I think he’s good enough to get them to playoffs.Yeah, The NBA is FANTASTIC!
Do you think James would have won a Ring with the heat if he didn't have DWade or CB? Im not sure he would have without KLove and KI. He couldn't do it in Cleveland alone with a young team.
Seems he does well surrounded by others stars of course, Im not sure the lakers have those as yet? I don't think he does either. Why would he want to bring in guys like Rhondo, Stevenson & Mcgee? I know they are playoff tested and offer some vet leadership however, unless one of the three youngsters really breaks out with stardom, I think they could be i for surprise, this year.
If their plan had evolved with PG different story in my mind.
