So the big question is this: Do we choke up the roster with Meyers, Turner and MO until we can (hopefully) flip them 2 years from now as expiring deals? Or do we just cut our losses and use the stretch provision to cut out losses early and move on with some dead cap space on the books?

Can't have $12-15M in dead money for the next 5 years.

we have to eat it for the next couple years while we stay mediocre

yeah. screw trying to make the team better in any way. gotta make the richest NBA owner pay less. thats the #1 priority.
2nd richest...Balmer is the first...But, I get your point!

But the hole we were in was because of our own stupid decisions. It's much better to avoid it in the first place
Well ya, that goes without saying. But anyone who trades a 1st to get rid of a big contract guy is in the same boat. Bad decision to overpay a player not preforming. So at least we didn't have to do that (yet).

Right now that's 37 million in essentially dead money. I'd seriously look at it as a sunk cost.
That is $0 in dead money 2 years from now. Either way were not doing anything until then, but cutting and stretching them could mean no flexibility until 2023...

So we are under the luxury tax, so what happens next? Can we sign a top Free Agent now? Sorry don’t know about Cap space or Luxuey Tax.

Does not put us in a position to get anyone, just avoid problems in future years with the repeater luxury tax.

Noah was not used and trading his contract gave us benefits later.

Not sexy, but the right move to make.

Now we have to watch as we get beat out of the playoffs by teams who got better at the trade deadline. Might as well start looking for our next point guard now.
Well, since we didn't make a move to get better I now hope we miss the POs. Much rather have a one in a billion shot in the lottery than get swept in the 1st round.

Fuckkkkkkkkkk Neil Olshey man. Fucking fucked. Fuckkk. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Shit. Hellhole shitstorm fucking aghghgh.

> How I feel right now.

That might be for the best but I don't think it is happening. We still have too much talent to miss playoffs. I don't see teams getting better behind us outside of possibly the Jazz.

Julius Randle would be nice but we can't pay him because of ET & the DNP Brothers.

What’s worse, being stuck with those contracts or not being able to attract any top tier FA here once they are off the books? I think that will be when Dame finally loses it. NO will try to sell him on 2020 and then Chandler Parsons will spurn us again.

Don't worry guys, now we'll get to let some more players leave for nothing this summer in Ed and Shabazz.
We'll keep Ed*. But yeah, we'll lose Bazz. Can't believe Payton gets a 2nd rounder but Bazz doesn't.

*Unless Olshey is fired - then all bets are off.

Why? Payton is better than Napier.

What I don’t understand is if we are gonna be a 6-8 seed AGAIN and for the next couple seasons with ZERO chance of winning a title why not just dial it down 10 wins and be in the lottery with a chance at changing the future...it only takes a couple unexpected bounces of a ping pong ball.

Because Dame is one of the top 10 most competitive players on the market. He would have none of it.
