I know I just said not to be greedy but after my other two trades then do this:

Since we lost two bad contracts we could take on a bad one from Washington for Oubre.

Mahinmi and Oubre for Leonard and Davis

Final Post Deadline Lineup:
Dame, CJ, Oubre, Aminu, Nurkic
Napier, Connaughton, Carter, Robinson III, Collins, Mahinmi, Vonleh, Jefferson, Layman, Swanigan

And still comfortably under the tax line!

Next year:

We’d only have Dame, CJ, Oubre, Aminu, Collins, Swanigan, Mahinmi, and Layman (non-guaranteed) under contract.

This summer we’d have RFA status for Nurkic, Napier, Connaughton, and Vonleh.

UFA’s without bird rights would be Carter (he’ll probably retire) and Robinson III (who we could probably get to come back cheap as the backup to Oubre).

We’d have two decent TPE’s and the full-MLE to use as well to fill out the roster despite not having a pick.

This would be a huge grand slam.

So you do know that CJ was still a poison pill contract at the draft making him nearly impossible to trade then right? Do you think Chicago would've wanted CJ at over $23 million or the package of young guys they got on rookie deals and a much higher pick we could've given them. You don't know if Olshey tried or not either.

Was he a poison pill though? Draft was after season ended and he was going to make north of $23M next season anyway.

If we had swapped him for Butler, those salaries nearly matched so it would have been possible. Same with sending him to Minnesota for some of their pieces. We could have jumped into that deal from both sides although I think Timberwolves were intent on getting Butler and wouldn't have taken CJ instead.

For Chicago, LaVine + Dunn + Markkanen might have been a better deal than CJ as it allowed them to do the reboot but CJ is a better player than all of them now.

My biggest regret of the last year is not getting Donovan Mitchell. Absolutely love him as a player.

PDX 1st to LA
WASH 2nd to LA

Por gets 2 starters
Wash gets a pg and frontcourt help
LA gets expirings and 2 Draft picks

That’s my semi dream trade for this deadline.

Nurk/Davis
Randle/Collins/Amino
Oubre/Turner
CJ/Pat
Dame

If u can spin Amino for a backup pg do it too.

I don’t think anyone is giving a first for a RFA this year. We would have to take a bad contract(or 2) for expirings is my guess.
We should. Dude has 20/10 potential with solid defense and is an immediate upgrade over Aminu. So what he's gonna get paid? He's worth it.

Amino?

I’m tired and the o and u are close on the keyboard, I’ll just call him Bambi

The only problem I have with Randle is he can't shoot threes. I don't think it's an issue but I suspect our front office might.

Feel like the only moves we'll make will be financially motivated. And that's disappointing. Can't even get excited over the idea of dumping Noah for nothing.

It's like dumping AC for nothing.

Quite deflating. Just giving up so called assets.

We traded Plumlee and Crabbe in the last year and we tried to trade Harkless in offseason.
Denver grabbed Milsap and he has been gone most of the season and is coming back. They could do nothing if they wanted. However they are active again and trying to improve their squad while getting rid of bad contracts. Getting rid of AC's contract is a no brainer. The Nurkic trade made sense. By the way that was a deal done with Denver. Some Portland fans want us to make a move for the sake of making a move and you know what, I am on that wagon. Shake this squad up because this shit is boring.

Yeah they shouldn't even be considered assets considering we would have to actually give up more to get rid of contracts like Leonards and turners

Yes Please! Send Meyers or Turner & 1st round pick and get back Al Jefferson. Sign me up.

Nope wrong, the new year starts on July 1st after the draft. Besides we couldn't offer the #7 pick.

Green and 1st round pick for Bradley? Spurs crazy

I don't want to give up first to get cap space we would do nothing with anyway.

It makes sense if you are creating space to sign players but we wouldn't be, it would be just to save money.
100% agree. I don't understand fans excited about helping paul save $$$.
I understand the tax implications. Just no interest in losing a pick to save Neil and Paul from their mistakes
