Finally pulled the trigger on some quality capture equipment. Plan is to put together some videos that will include all notable offensive and defensive possessions (for better or for worse) for various players in the draft.

My hope is to give people a better feel for the prospects total game than you're able to get from your typical highlight video.

Yes! That would be awesome! Who is gonna be the first player you’re gonna do?

Random, but Malachi Flynn vs Boise State during the Mountain West tournament.

Probably my favorite game of his though. Fun to cut up.

Sounds good! You should do one on Tre Jones or Saddiq Bey next

Neil has done well in the draft and expect him to address a need with a solid player.

Missed a duplicate clip early in the video and probably will cut these down in the future.

Dealing with terrible upload speeds and left some stuff in that probably wasn't necessary.

Bey doesn't provide enough upside for me. Would make sense for a lot of teams as something as high as the 10th pick, but not for the Blazers. The Blazers need to go with an upside pick (Someone like Jalen McDaniels).
I totally get this sentiment, however I’d argue our last three top picks I’d consider guys who are upside picks (Collins, Ant, and Nas). I kinda get the flip side of we need a guy who can contribute now, get a guy who has an NBA ready skill whether it be scoring, shooting, or defense.

He's NBA ready, but he's not going to be better than Trent or Hood, so he's not gonna play next year. And if he doesn't play next year, those projects should develop enough to reach his level. I dont see him ever cracking the rotation in Portland.

I’m not really talking about Bey, more in general. I just want a player who can play 18-20 minutes a night and not be a liability.

While he could play small forward, I see Bey having better success at power forward. His versatility and spot shooting could be huge at that spot. And he can make plays for other if necessary. So what I am saying is that I can see him in a Draymond green type role for us. And that type of role may be best for him as he isn’t the quickest or the most athletic but he can out smart anyone. He would be a really nice back up to Collins. So he could play alongside Trent and Hood, giving the Blazers a really nice 2 way versatile bench

Which Bey is everyone talking about?
Saddiq or Tyler?

I think Tyler has some potential to be a nice backup. I don't see the NBA potential in Saddiq.

Sorry I meant Saddiq. May I ask what is it about Saddiq that you don’t see the potential in?

If Hood comes back and the team is healthy next season, where exactly is the need on the roster? 3-and-D guy to replace Ariza off the bench? A 3-4-5 reserve with upside like Achuiwa? Is there even much of a place for that kind of forward in the current style of play?

I don't think there's really a PG that can step in immediately and be a floor general off the bench ... maybe a Tre Jones, but that's pushing it.

The Blazers actually are in a great position to just draft the best player available. There aren't a ton of particularly weak positions on the team, again, providing you think Nurk, Zach and Hood are going to be OK after their injuries.

Exactly! When this team is healthy there is really no major weakness. A back up point guard would be nice, even a back up power forward too. If you look at our youngster like Simon, Trent, Little, and Collins there isn’t a point guard or a power forward so really we should focus on that and maybe guys we draft will unexpectedly contribute right away. If we were to draft based off of upside then I would love Patrick Williams or Jaden McDaniel at PF. Then Tre Jones, Ashton Hagans, or RJ Hampton at PG

Probably 6'7-6'9 legit shooting three and can D up too. If nobody they like is there then bpa. Threes that can shoot and play D are nice assets.
Ariza is a ? for more than a couple more years here?

Trent, Hood, Whiteside... that's are 6th through 8th men next year, without even taking into account anyone we could trade for involving the TPE, and without taking into account the fact that we'll probably have the Full MLE (almost $10M) to add to that.

We dont need a NBA-Ready rotation player with low upside, since anyone we got there probably wouldn't crack our top 9 or 10 next year.

When will Hood be available even? Then again... next season likely won’t start till January if they agree to doing July 31-October 12.

I was thinking of a guy like Okoro, someone with that level of defensive intensity breaks rotations.

You are gambling a lot on Hood being fully recovered and Whiteside being re-signed. There is also the question of how long Ariza will be around.

Okoro is bleh to me. He's a worse version of Little.

Hood being fully recovered more than a year after? He already looks ahead of schedule. I'd were have to make due with Little for a month, fine. Doesn't mean we should draft someone without much upside.

Its highly likely Whiteside gets resigned, but he doesn't affect Bey.

If we trade Ariza, it'd likely be for another wing.

Saddiq isnt much of a PF, and if we slotted him into the backup PF role, then we're not ready to contend. Bey is no more ready for that role than Little, and Nas has more upside.

Saddiq makes no sense for us. Either go for upside or trade it.

May I ask what you think Little upside/ceiling will be? I love Little, I think he could be at least a solid starter.
And to let you know I would much prefer we draft Patrick Williams or Jaden McDaniels who both have high upside

I think Little has huge upside. At the very least I think he's going to be a starter in this league. Now, unfortunately we have a coach who isn't giving him much of a shot. He could end up being our new Barton -- trade him away and watch him blossom somewhere else. He's the only other player, other than Lebron James, to be MVP of the McDonald's All American and the Jordan game.

Looks like this lame ass draft will be October 15th.

Aren’t they playing college ball by then? Wtf... they should just have the draft this month. Other sports have drafts within their season...

have the bottom 8 have their lottery, then go by current standings. It’s not great but it’s better than getting drafted in October and having to play by December...
