Are we actually expecting Keon Johnson to play this year? Or is he just a practice body? Trade Filler?

I think he’s getting slept on. In Billups’ system he’s a wing, although he also flashed as a passer last season. Hes got hints of the two elements Chauncey values the most: defensive ability and playmaking. and hes not even 21 yet. Outside of Sharpe I’d say he’s the guy I’m most looking forward to watching in summer league.

I'm looking forward to watching all the guys that are returning and seeing if and how they've improved from the end of last season.

Because he's not good enough yet. He may be talented but he hasn't played in a year. The point of SL is not the same as practice. It means a lot more to the fringe guys because they're getting showcased for a contract they don't have yet.

It totally depends on the coach, of course. But it's against the Billups philosophy just to hand things to people because of their rep (at least, I would've thought so).

He's not good enough to start in Summer League? You've got to be kidding.

btw....

Did you guys catch the official heights/weights listed for summer league?

Sharpe - 6'6, 200
Keon - 6'4, 185
Didi- 6'5, 215
Brown - 6'8, 200
Watford - 6'9 230

I saw Sharpe at 6'6" if true then he can play SF. Sure it's not the ideal 6'8" or 6'9" but with his wingspan it's close enough and the dream is to have Dame, Ant, and Sharpe all on the floor together with Ant and Sharpe reaching their potential.

Didn't he have measurements at the combine though?

Good to see Didi at 215. That is bigger than most guards we have.

Wouldn't it be nice if Brown really exploded and we had a really serious forward rotation? I still want a backup Big and sure a top-shelf PF would be amazing, but I'm actually not that displeased with our lineup right now. Lots of youth and potential and decent size (want more of course) and finally we have really good defenders GP II, Hart (he's not as good as some say), Winslow, Grant, Nurkic, and Little. If Brown, Sharpe, and Ant all develop we could really have something here. Also, Little is still young and can develop. Things aren't as grim as some say. Sure we aren't contending next year unless Sharpe just explodes on the scene as our starting SF, but I think we are not bad.

Keegan off to a good start.
Pippen Jr. not so much.
Jovic with a good performance for once.

Here's the deal..The Blazers have a lot of catching up to do to even be considered a strong bet to make the playoffs.
Teams like Utah, Lakers will most likely struggle, Denver is gonna be the 5 seed until the end of time...Dallas could go either way,...
Point is, there will be opportunities, but the league is just loaded with quality, it's everywhere.
Even got some in RipCity.

also really love what i'm seeing from keegan.

he has the entire scoring arsenal already. gets terrific positioning in the post, knows the angles, can shoot off the catch/dribble going either side. he's a complete offensive player at 21 already. just needs to tighten the handle.

think he's a bit underrated defensively too because he doesn't have jaw dropping bounce. but his instincts are already there.

pretty much exactly why i thought he'd translate to the nba.

The Grizzlies always seem to end up with the guys I'm interested in - Lofton Jr, Roddy. Hefty guys with Mad Skillz. This is a fun SL team!

Every single one of the guys interviewed during our practices has seemingly been awestruck by Shaedon or deemed him one of the best players on the floor.

These guys are usually the first to know.

Was BWill today:

Greg also said Shaedon and Jabari have been really good.

watching chet run still makes me uncomfortable. dude is all skin and bones

Nurk (and all traditional centers) is going to have issues guarding Chet on the perimeter

Did Chet get hurt at the end of the first? Looked like a knee tweak
