There are two distinct meanings to that statement:

1) Does Dame improve the development of players around him? He's a great teammate and leader, goes out of his way to teach the young guys, and we've never seen an example of anything but praise from the guys around him. This is a definitive yes.

2) Does Dame improve their level of play on the court? This one is debatable. Between being a weak defender at the point of attack, playing at a deliberate pace that isn't conducive to transition opportunities, not being great at lob passes, and holding the ball too long when double teams come, there's certainly a case to be made that his teammates could play better under different scenarios.
He made Aminu & Harkless better.

Probably because he actually played defense. Maybe?

not from what I saw

last season, he was tied for 18th on the team in defensive rating with a rating 2.1 points worse than the team. And was 14th on the team in DBPM with a -1.6 points/100-possessions mark

the year before he was 10th on the team in def rating, with again, a mark that was 2 points worse then the team. and, 7th on the team in DBPM with a -0.7 mark

and he's 11th on the Clippers in def rating while 12th in DBPM

this all matches what I saw. He's simply not a good defender. Not quite as bad as Simons; probably at the same level as Dame or CJ. He's a good scorer who attacks the basket well while shooting the three-ball at a high level. Very capable in those two areas. A 6th man type who can fill in as SG at times; for 18M/year. He's one of the reason the Clippers have a tax bill scheduled of 145M; that will be added to their league leading payroll of 201M. That's 346M. Blazers have a payroll that's actually less than the Clippers tax bill....yikes!

all this nostalgia around here for Powell (and CJ for that matter) is kind of crazy. Hart was a better starting SF than Powell

I LOVED the acquisition of Powell and I remember gushing about it when it happened and trying to get folks on here on board too. I HATED how we used him. And I’ve stated it many times since.

A Lillard/Powell backcourt was perfect. Instead he played at the 3 in an extreme small ball unit.

Still pisses me off.
Me too. Same with Josh Hart.

Well duh. I don’t think anyone in their right mind thought he should’ve ever play SF. He was a SG through and through

I don’t care who you’re playing against! Wow!

After dropping 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks in an MVP winning performance in the Celebrity game, DK Metcalf was subjected to a drug test by the NFL

Jalen Hoard is now playing in Israel after his last season with the Thunder.
