Rockets nearing deal to acquire Dillon Brooks from Grizzlies: Sources https://theathletic.com/4659386/2023/07/01/dillon-brooks-houston-rockets-memphis-grizzlies/ The Houston Rockets are nearing a deal with Memphis Grizzlies wing Dillon Brooks, league sources told The Athletic on Saturday. Houston has been lining up trades around the league and could turn Brooks’ deal into a sign-and-trade with Memphis.
Brooks was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team last season. He averaged 14.3 points...
[Woj] Free agent G Dillon Brooks has agreed on a four-year, $80 million contract with the Houston Rockets, his agent Mike George of @OneLegacySports tells ESPN.

Woj] The Rockets agreed with free agent center Jock Landale on a four-year, $32M deal — with only the first season guaranteed, sources tell ESPN.

Rockets are a mess. Don't understand what they are doing. Should have signed Rose for cheap as a vet to guide the young'ins. Not blow their wad on FVV and another wad on a difficult guy.

[Woj] Free agent Russell Westbrook has agreed on a two-year, nearly $8M deal to stay with the Clippers, agent Jeff Schwartz of @Excelbasketball tells ESPN. Deal includes player option.

I love what the Rockets are doing.

They’re building a SCRAPPY team.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers have acquired KJ Martin from the Rockets for two future second-round picks.
The Clippers have been looking to bolster their rotation with younger players, which is especially important given the past injury issues of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Martin, who was a starter for 49 of the Rockets’ 82 games last season, fits the bill. In the best season of his NBA career to date, he averaged 12.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.8 3-pointers in 28 minutes per game. Martin shot nearly 57% from the field, with more than 69% of his shot attempts coming from within 10 feet of the basket. Given the Clippers’ depth, Martin’s fantasy value will likely be that of a streamer on nights when the team is shorthanded at the forward positions.

Jalen McDaniels has signed a two-year, $9.3 million deal with the Raptors, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
McDaniels was solid for Charlotte last season before being shipped to Philadelphia. He struggled to find a role with the 76ers, but now he’ll get a fresh start in Toronto. They have a history of having a bunch of tall wing players, and McDaniels fits the mold. He should be able to find a consistent role with them and be relevant in fantasy basaketball.

The Rockets are finalizing a deal for Patty Mills, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Kelly Iko.
Shortly after making a cost-cutting move, the Rockets are helping the Nets make one. It isn’t clear what the full terms of the trade are, but Mills won’t see enough of a role in Houston to impact fantasy. However, he is a solid veteran that could help their culture.

Jock Landale has signed a four-year, $32 million deal with Houston, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Landale was solid for Phoenix last season, and his play earned him a big deal with the Rockets, who have been burning through cap space. Landale should slide in as the backup center behind Alperen Sengun, which means he likely won’t hold much fantasy value outside of incredibly deep leagues.

Josh Christopher has been traded to Memphis, according to The Athletic’s Kelly Iko.
Houston just signed Dillon Brooks to a four-year, $80 million deal, and now they’re sending Christopher where Brooks came from. It hasn’t been confirmed, but it could be part of a sign-and-trade. Christopher is a talented scorer, but he wasn’t able to get a major role over his first two seasons. Unfortunately, Memphis is likely a worse situation for him than the young Rockets.

I like that for the Clippers.
Not sure what the Rockets are doing.
Hopefully we can pick up Eason next year after this crashes

I love Eason for Portland. Perfect fit and plenty of playing time available.

Perfect fit... and by perfect fit, you can fill in what I mean
The team with the worst chemistry in the league signs Dillon "shit talking, 32.6 3FG% on SIX attempts per, top of league in technicals" Brooks.

What could go wrong?

Seriously, he needed to go to a team of Boy Scouts, instead he went to the ghetto.

WTF? just how many tall wings does one team need?

Scottie Barnes 6-9
Chris Boucher 6-9
Pascal Siakam 6-9
OG Anunoby 6-7
Precious Achiuwa 6-8
Dalano Banton 6-9

Jalen McDaniels 6-9

Blazers have Kris Murray.....damn

[Scotto] BREAKING: The Houston Rockets have agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with NBA champion Jeff Green, league sources told @HoopsHype.

Bringing the old Villanova gang back together.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Domantas Sabonis and the Kings have agreed to a contract extension worth $217 million over five years.
Securing the long-term future of Sabonis, who was entering the final season of his current contract, was a priority for the Kings heading into free agency. They’ve accomplished that goal, with the All-NBA center due to receive $195 million in new money. The two sides have renegotiated Sabonis’ salary for the 2023-24 season, and the deal will include four more years beyond that. With De’Aaron Fox’s contract running through the 2026-27 season, Sacramento’s two cornerstones are secure from a financial standpoint. Sabonis finished last season as a top-25 player in 8- and 9-cat formats and fantasy managers should expect more of the same in 2023-24.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Mavericks have signed Dante Exum to a one-year, guaranteed contract.
The fifth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Exum struggled with injuries throughout his six seasons in the NBA. After helping lead Partizan to its first league title in a decade this past season, he’s back in the NBA. The versatile Exum is capable of giving the Mavericks depth at multiple positions on the perimeter, and there’s also the connection to recent Mavs front office hire Dennis Lindsey. Lindsey was the top executive with the Jazz when Exum was drafted in 2014.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Alex Len and the Kings have agreed to a one-year deal worth $3.2 million.
After appearing in 26 games off the Kings’ bench last season, Len has decided to remain with the team for another year. This signing ensures that Sacramento will have depth behind starter Domantas Sabonis, as Richaun Holmes was traded to Dallas on draft night and Chimezie Metu agreed to a deal with the Suns. Len won’t be a factor in fantasy basketball unless the Kings were to lose Sabonis to injury.

Shortly after making a cost-cutting move, the Rockets are helping the Nets make one. It isn’t clear what the full terms of the trade are, but Mills won’t see enough of a role in Houston to impact fantasy. However, he is a solid veteran that could help their culture.

According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, Patty Mills is being rerouted to Memphis as part of the Grizzlies’ sign-and-trade deal with the Rockets.
Traded to the Rockets Saturday evening, Mills is now being included in the deal that will send Dillon Brooks to Houston. So the two-team deal the veteran guard was involved in is now a three-team trade, and Mills may have a better shot at fantasy relevance in Memphis than he would have in Houston. With Brooks and Tyus Jones (Washington) moving on and Ja Morant being suspended for the first 25 games of next season, Mills may be able to scrape out late-round fantasy value for fantasy managers needing 3-point production.
