push the ball to what end? The only Blazer player that looks to get up the floor in transition is Aminu, and that's a disaster waiting to happen. CJ doesn't run up the floor. Mo doesn't, Nurk doesn't, ET doesn't, Curry didn't. What good will Lillard do running up the floor with the ball when his teammates are trailing significantly and not running with him?
it's kind of crazy how much Dame gets blamed for. You don't have a clue how much Portland works on their transition game. I don't either, but we sure have an idea how much Portland runs and that indicates something. When was the last time you saw a Blazer take the ball out of the basket and fire it to a player running up the court? I'm thinking never. That's not on Dame, that's on Stotts. How often does a Blazer big grab a defensive rebound and look to make a transition outlet pass? Right, almost never. How many players does Portland have capable of consistently filling the center of a fast break?
Dame has be be the primary scorer. He has the burden of running most of the offense. He's their primary ball-handler in the PnR. And the last 2-3 years he draws the assignment of defending opposing PG's and that's extremely tough defensive duty that's going to slam him into screen after screen. He's carrying a gigantic burden and now you guys are blaming him for Portland's lack of transition offense. Can just once one of Dame's teammates take the lead and be responsible for just a little bit of Portland's game?
whether it's been Mo Williams, or Ronnie Price, or Wesley, or Steve Blake, or Eric Maynor, or CJ, or ET, or Bazz, since Stotts has arrived, I've never seen any Blazer ball-handler act any differently in potential transition opportunities than Dame does, Not one bit of difference. That's a pretty clear sign of what they work on and what is coached
