OFFICIAL AROUND THE NBA: SEPTEMBER 2023

I think we will see a lot of posting about how good this loss or that loss will be for our lottery chances this season. Unfortunately this is supposed to be a horrible draft. Sigh….

Correct, this is supposed to be a horrible draft. However, a couple weeks ago, I think in the 2024 draft thread I cherry picked what is regarded as the two worst drafts in 20 years. The point of it was to show that the draft always delivers quality players, and it is not just a Giannis or Jokic. There are very good players, all stars, that are found outside of the lottery. It is the teams responsibility to identify them and draft them. I am hoping that Schmitz is the guy for Portland.

A 5 year deal starting at 60M world be worth 79.2M in the 5th year. Perhaps he wasn't talking about AAV but peak value.

the tweet said "per year"

but sure, Marks could have said one thing on the radio and it got mixed up later in the tweet

Agreed here. Just because it's a weak draft doesn't mean there isn't talent.

Donovan Clingan 7'2
Izan Almansa 6'10-11
Aday Mara 7'3
Aaron Bradshaw 7'1
Kyle Filipowski 7'0
Xavier Booker 7'0
Trevon Brazile 6'10

Not saying I like ALL of these guys, but there are going to be several first rounders that are PF/Cs, coincidentally our biggest position of need.

If N'Faly Dante says healthy I am hoping for the Blazers to get him in the 2nd round.
UNofficially he is reported to have a 7'5.5 wingspan and 9'5 standing reach.

That's crazy lol I'll have to look into him. Don't know anything about his game, but a Mark Williams-sized dude with skill would be great.

He has skill around the basket. He looks to have potential from mid-range, but rarely shoots it from there. Very good shot blocker with decent quickness

Not sure how you find that hilarious or that there is anything good about it?

That there's almost no hope for this coming season other than the development of 2 players and next years draft.

I've been on this forum 15 years.....I can honestly say this is the FIRST post I agree with. Well done FAMS! @SlyPokerDog can you get this person some sort of nerd prize or something. Like a hard drive, case of Cheetos or defragamator or something?

So, what you are saying is that in over 64,000 posts you made on this forum, you never agreed with any of them?

Good to know...

Had you at the word "correct," didn't I? Don't need that stuff. Just need to figure out how to get WhatsApp on my computer, synced to my phone so I can watch my sons soccer games in Germany on a screen bigger than my phone.

I would rather go into this season thinking about how we're going to develop two young guys and how we will continue to build around them, rather than past seasons where we already knew that the team wasn't good enough to make it past the first round. One scenario is full of hope, the other scenario is hopeless.

So you think this is Funny and also feel it's Good?

I think once the Dame cloud stops casting its shadow it will be a lot of fun watching the players on this roster develop in wins and yes even in a lot of losses. Would I rather watch a roster poised to make a run at a championship next season? Hell yes I would but I think what we have is better than treading water in the 7-10 spot in the division.

Yeah.... I miss the first round playoff exits.

and there it is. The Raptors are officially rebuilding. The rookie head coach, the constant Siakam & OG trade rumors wasn't enough.

Drake bailing from Toronto = Scottie Barnes and tanking for picks.

So hilarious (in a good way) that we're already talking about next years draft.
Now that you mention it…it’s also hilarious (in a good way) that I’m already talking about next years free agency. LOL.

I want to build so much cap space to get OG in FA next summer. “OG walking for nothing after all the trade interest he’s had over the last few years is a fireable offense” says some Raptors fan on Reddit.

I really hate injuries. This could keep him out past Christmas

I guess the question is will Murphy return before Zion's annual injury
