Danny Green and Kyle Anderson will be missed defensively and they still lack shooting.

Should be a good rebounding team on both ends, won't foul and DeRozan will help them offensively. Keys will be how more Dejounte and the Peoltl addition will balance w/ DeRozan and Belinelli defensively (I think they'll drop a point or two on D imo) and how much of a step back LaMarcus takes offensively after a career year as the focal point of the offense.

Re: San Antonio - they will, as usual, be better than people think. Derek White looked so good in SL that they rested him by the time we played them (probably to give Lonnie Walker more shots)

And Bryn Forbes did the same thing last year in SL and might now get more time with Green and Manu gone.

Every year the Spurs unearth players like that - Bruce Bowen, Danny Green, Gary Neal, Patty, etc.

Plus, I think the Trojan big man they drafted will be useful down the road.

They won 47 games with him as a starting and no Kawhi Leonard. Add in an all-star AND a young, very underrated Nurkic type of center I Poeltl, and I don't see how they get worse.

I don’t think a Spurs team coached by Pop is ever going to be out of the discussion of making the playoffs, but I think some of you are underestimating the impact of the loss of Parker and Manu. Those guys were the tie to the Spurs’ glory years and they were key just from the standpoint of leadership and being a steadying influence when things got tough. LA has never been much of a leader or a cohesive influence. Gasol is too long in the tooth. I think the Spurs struggle to win 45 and will be on the periphery of making the playoffs.

And of course I completely forgot about Lonnie Walker, who looks to be the truth himself. Wouldn't be surprised for him to get the majority of the reserve minutes behind Gay.

The "glory years"... Last year was a "distraction" year. Yeah, they'll be missed in the locker room, but the difference between Danny Green+distraction and Derozen+Poeltl is bigger than that. LA lead them to 47 wins last year despite the distractions... Gasol is old, but they just got a C who's going to be better.

They'll probably be better than us.

I don't think so, but, as they say, that's why they play the games.

Really? Which PG excites you?
At center, Gasol is older than dirt and the rest are meh.
SF? Gay? Yeah, not a fan.
DeRosan is terrific and LA is good, but that’s about it.
Dejounte Murray. I think if your a Spurs fan you have to be excited about him. He will be Tony Parker's replacement.

Seems like us and San Antonio could field all-SG lineups.

The Orlando Magic are expected to make Nikola Vucevic available in trade talks.

The Magic are building their frontcourt around Mohamed Bamba, Jonathan Isaac and Aaron Gordon.

Vucevic is entering the final season of his contract with the Magic.

Vucevic was acquired by the Magic in 2012 as part of the Dwight Howard trade.

Perlmutter, who says he worked at Madison Square Garden in ad sales for four years in the early 2000s, notes that his tipping point as a fan was the Knicks' decision to pass on Michael Porter Jr. in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Knicks instead selected Kentucky forward Kevin Knoxwith the No. 9 pick.
What a moron. Knox and MPJ are very similar accept that Knox is stronger, faster, more proven, and has a back that's not made of glass

Knick fans always want the flashier name. That's what casual fans want.

If he said "the tipping point was taking Knox over Mikal Bridges" then I'd have more respect to him. Mikal Bridges played in their backyard too.

SMH.

Unless his name is Damian... then he can wear whatever shoes he freaking wants too...
If it were Damian I'd be really super pissed...cannot even fathom the idea ...he's the face of the franchise..on track to be the greatest ever in the red, black and white....nah....that ain't happening

Looks like they say we have a 34% chance to make the playoffs. Seems like they aren't as high on our roster as most on here are.
