Hell, why did Ryan do it? I can see why the suns like it.

Houston too.
He has only really given up about $3million guarantee. Someone will take him for veteran minimum at least and he will get $15.6million from Suns. It’s also possible that they waive him and he signs somewhere for $7million or so and he will be better off financially then.

So why wouldn't Turner be into something like that?

To lower his deal to guaranteed $14million? Maybe he would if we were going to trade him somewhere where he could showcase himself. I think you can only lower your guaranteed salary when you are being traded. I cannot even recall any trades where it was included in the move to be fair.

Why do people even think Lillard is available? He was 1st team all NBA, 4th in MVP voting, loves it here and the face of the franchise. He's not on the market and even if he was, 21-win PHO doesn't have anything close to comparable to offer in return.

They think Lillard is available because we appear to be moored in the harbor of mediocrity for eternity, of course. Sighted from afar, all those accolades you mention only serve to strengthen the assumption that anyone who is this good at basketball and in their right mind, that has said they wanted this and that and not gotten it, who has heard "promises" of this and that and not gotten it, that has visited with the owner, who has endorsed the coach and not the GM, whose friends have been repeatedly traded or left to walk out the door, about whom rumors (although clearly spurious, but nevertheless, actual) have swirled, would, one could only assume, want to get the fuck out. Obviously Damian is not in his right mind. But Phoenix is for calling.

I see what you're saying. To a team like PHO, who have won 23, 24 and 21 games over the last three seasons and missed the playoffs eight years in a row, mediocrity probably looks pretty damn good.

The question, however, is why would they (or you) think Damian Lillard would be happier playing for their losing organization than he is playing for a team that won 49 games last season and has made the playoffs the last five years.

The grass isn't always greener.

maybe the suns don't care if he'd be happy. teams don't make trades wondering if a guy will be happy or not unless hes about to be a FA.

This whole post is a crock of shit.

Yes, because a disgruntled superstar surrounded by a bunch of impressionable 18-21 year olds is a sure fire recipe for winning. Who wouldn't want that?

I just think Dame is a unique person and will always be happy in his situation and work hard to make it a success. We are terribly lucky to have him.

(And while I could say Dame would be happy anywhere, which I believe is true) I think if Dame had a choice, he'd choose to finish what he started here.

All that being said, if I'm Phoenix, I'm calling because of the aforementioned stuff.

It would be a stupid trade for PHO, too. Add Damian Lillard to that roster and they still miss the playoffs in the West and end up with a worse draft pick.

They should just suck it up and go the full PHI route. They aren't going to be competitive anytime soon anyway. A couple more 21-win seasons == a couple more top 4 picks. Rather than trading away any of their youth, they should just keep adding more young guys and see which ones turn out to be something special.

Given the playoff picture in the West, youth is the one thing they have on their side. Bide your time while GSW and HOU age, stockpile as many young assets as possible and your window opens when everyone else's is closing. They're already 3 years into a 5 -year tank-a-thon. It makes no sense to give up on The Process at this point.

Why? Seriously.

Does PHO even make the playoffs in the West with Damain Lillard. I don't think they do. And they'd have to give up some of their young assets to get him (I don't think POR would ever trade him, and if they did, they would ask for the moon in return).

As I said in my previous post, they are 3 years into a 5-year plan to build through the draft. Changing course now doesn't make sense.

of course its preferable. but more times than not a guy doesn't want to be moved. they do it anyway. maybe going to Phoenix, still being the star, grooming young guys and getting them back on track is appealing. Oh and throwing lobs to Ayton and racking up assists with Booker.

You're either misreading or misinterpreting or mistyping or missing something.

Nope.

I'm not saying I agree with their strategy. I'm just theorizing...like two steps back theorizing. And I'd totally agree that they have a decent plan if not for Trevor Ariza and this trade for Ryan Anderson. These things I don't understand...

I doubt they'd make the playoffs with Dame, but obviously they believe in what they're doing if they're looking for a 28 year old point guard. I don't get it, honestly.

It doesn't even make sense. I'm theorizing why Phoenix would think it is okay to pick up the phone, which was the question btw. Can a list of real things listed as a theory even be a crock of shit? I don't think it can. I'm not saying it makes sense or is a good idea or Dame would want to live there or whatever. I'm just answering the fucking question. You answer the fucking question. Why would Phoenix even think to make that call. I think saying an offhand theory is a crock of shit is a sloppy crock of shit.

Perhaps he's just saying that the things you're saying Phoenix would be thinking are the crock of...feces...not the notion that they are thinking those things.
