I'm with you that we'll be battling a few teams for a top seed but I think even with the resting they'll do, the Lakers will make sure they secure as much HCA as they can. So they'll likely be the 1 seed.

Can a team really afford to pay an old school true center the supermax? I mean Gobert hasn't made one three pointer in his career. I realize he has one of the best FG% in the league throughout his career but he's not a passing threat, a shooting threat or anything else on offense besides a pick setter and a guy who scores within two feet. Yeah he might be the best inside defender in the league but I don't think he's as mobile as a bunch of other defensive bigs. I would pay Bam, Embiid, KAT, Joker and obviously both AD and Giannis before Gobert and then you have to think about what the difference between having Gobert and Nurk is. I sure as shit wouldn't pay Nurk more than 2/3 the max. I mean if Gobert wants the supermax I might try to get Jarret Allen or Nurk or Christian Wood (I might actually rather have Wood)... I guess what I'm saying is I don't see a big enough difference in Gobert and the 15th best big in the league to pay Gobert the supermax. I mean the Jazz just got Favors for less than a third of what Gobert is asking. I just can't see any team doing that.

That's a lot of time to see what we have, project which players will be due raises after the season, really determine how close this roster is to contending, see how many quality players are out of the rotation and all of that should make assessments on any trades that need to be made more informed.
