Law of diminishing returns. While he can still score, his defense was, for me, what really made him special. His defensive rating used to be spectacular (97-101 in his 2nd-6th seasons), but has tailed off to 105-108 since then.
to be fair, defensive rating is not really an individual metric as much at it is a team metric. Just listing his raw rating lacks any context, IMO. To derive any useful gauge from defensive ratings you'd need a year-by-year comparison of PG's rating vs his team. with + being better and - being worse

that does look a little like he's fallen off, but I think there's a little more relevant context to those numbers. When going thru the stats, what I saw is that when PG posted a defensive rating above +2.0, his teams ranked 3rd, 1st, 1st, 3rd, and 4th in the league in defensive rating. In other words, he helped his teams to to top ratings, but he also benefited by being on great defensive teams with great defensive coaches
and when looking at the progression of a stat like def rating over a 10 year period like PG's career, you really need the context of where the NBA was each year. By that, I mean, when PG became a starter in his 2nd season the average team defensive rating was 105. Last year, the average was 110. So, it sure looks like league-wide defense got worse, or more likely offenses got better. In that context, that PG saw his defensive rating rise about 5 points over his career is not really an indication of his defense as much as NBA evolution
IMO, I think PG has shown himself to be kind of an ass, but he's still an elite player and a very good defender
