When will people be upset we drafter Sharpe instead of him? Isn’t that how it works?
 
This guy is amazing. Slow, out of shape, yet putting up historical numbers!

Damn! This is the type of franchise changing guy you need to win a championship. Dame is good and all but this is what it takes

Isn't he the 2-time defending MVP? How many NBA Championships has he won?

I don't think he's necessarily out of shape, I think he just doesn't show muscles. Larry Bird and John McEnroe were other examples.

You know who plays him as well as anyone in the league? Nurk.

huh? He destroyed Nurk in 2021 playoffs. It was awful.

No he didn't. In that series, Nurk had a positive plus/minus and Jokic was in the negative. The only reason we didn't win was because the refs called Nurk for so many fouls that he wasn't on the floor much.

Where was Nurk in the pivotal Game 5 while Jokic was destroying us? Over the series, our starters were a positive but we lost the series because no one but Dame showed up in Game 5. Jokic destroyed Nurk when it mattered most. A game 4 blowout skewed the +/-.
 
Meanwhile, Wiseman is having a career night. I’d take him for Payton.
 
Okay, we are going to end this thought that early games don't matter, right now.

Lets run the clock back a decade and look at the yearly champs and how they did.....

11-12 Heat go....8-1, 16-5, 28-7, 45-17
12-13 Heat go....12-3, 28-12, 56-14
13-14 Spurs go....13-1, 31-8, 59-16
14-15 Warriors go....21-2, 31-5, 43-9
15-16 Cavaliers go....8-1, 13-4, 27-9, 40-14
16-17 Warriors go....13-2, 27-4, 43-7
17-18 Warriors go....11-3, 26-6, 40-10
18-19 Raptors go....12-1, 20-4, 33-12, 44-16
19-20 Lakers go....17-2, 33-7, 45-12
20-21 Bucks go...11-6, 16-8, 29-14, 43-24
21-22 Warriors go...11-1, 18-2, 29-7, 41-13


The Bucks are the ONLY team that can even be considered as early games not mattering, but then they went on to an 18-8 record the next 26 games after starting 11-6. I think most any Blazer fan would be ecstatic with a start like that and be talking nonstop about the parade.

It sure looks like if a team wants to win it all, they need to win the early games and they matter just as much, if not more so than later games.

To put it another way, it's much harder to play catch up than to maintain a lead.

Now can we put this silly notion that early games in November and December don't matter? The past decade of champs would disagree with you....
