They're really not. They're devoid of any real closers. They have Noah, but without Rose they're severely lacking of star power. Washington has way more offensive weapons.
 
I hope this goes to ot so the blazer game is pushed back 15 mins. 7 is the earliest I can get out of class!

Where would the Bullets be w/out Miller's 11 mpg so far in this series? MVP!

Kidding aside, good for 'Dre. He was never good enough to be a starting PG who could lead a team to a playoff win. Maybe he should have realized this and come off the bench years ago...

I picked Chicago to win the series but they have to find somebody who can score other than Augustin. Butler needs to step up big time, the Deng trade looks REALLY bad right now.

Come off the bench....for who? His backups in Philly and Portland were worse than him.
 
The Heat should deal Bosh in a S&T. That guy just doesn't work with Miami anymore... Hell Miami is basically the LeBron show the past two seasons.

But they won like 48 games in the regular season. Granted, some of those were with Deng. They had a 7 game win streak late in season though.

Dre came off bench last season and still didn't get out of first round.

If he had embraced his originally intended role in Portland and been the star of the second unit rather than forcing his way ahead of Blake and into the starting spot, I'd argue that that 2009-10 team would have been much more successful than it was.

Miller whined and pouted the entire time he was coming off of the bench in Portland. It's hard to gauge his time off of the bench, because Miller wasn't buying into the role he agreed to the summer before he signed.

A very selfish player who thought he was a much better player than he actually was in his prime. For me, that's his NBA legacy. He built stats because he stayed healthy, but I think it speaks volumes that the coaches never once voted him an All-Star. As far as his time on the Blazers, I came to accept his limitations, and he was a decent PG when he wasn't exploited over a 7-game series.

Wait though. Did Andre agree to come off the bench? Is that documented? It was the summer he signed, not the summer before signed. I never read that he agreed to come off the bench though.

I understand your point, but the biggest reason that team was not as successful is because Roy played injured for most of the season and (essentially) all of the postseason. Andre starting became a necessity.

Miller was pretty vocal saying he would never have signed with us if he knew he was coming off the bench. McMillan nor our GM ever came out and said Miller was signed with the intent to have him come off the bench

Roy averaged 21.5/4.7/4.4 on 47% shooting in 65 games that season. Amazing for being hurt. It was the next season that he started to wilt.

Apparently Nate and Pritchard mention it to him during the infamous Las Vegas dinner with Pritchard and McMillan.

I had also forgot how out of shape he was when training camp started that fall, and how he claimed that the team fixed other players' times, but not his.

Miller arrived at Portland on Sept. 14 to get acclimated to his new teammates and city, but his first month in town hasn’t endeared him to the locals. The Oregonian reported Miller was the only player with a guaranteed contract who didn’t pass a conditioning test at the beginning of training camp. Miller admitted he didn’t pass the test – which required running baseline to baseline and back 10 times within a minute – by eight seconds, but he also said he wasn’t the only player that failed. While the paper reported Miller was punished with a week of extra conditioning with the strength and conditioning coach, Miller said he actually chose to do the work.

Miller said he weighs 213 pounds now, hopes to be in the 203-206 range during the season and is in the same shape that he’s always in this time of the year. He also points to the fact that he’s missed only three games his entire career as evidence that his conditioning has never been an issue.

“I know I didn’t make it,” Miller said. “And if I didn’t make it, there were probably two to four other guys that didn’t make it. And afterward, those guys came to me and told me that their times were fixed.”

That's just not true, though.

Miller said that about starting after the season started. During the Vegas dinner, he reacted differently.

For starters, McMillan said he was as blunt as he could be when the team recruited Miller during a Las Vegas dinner this summer. He told him then that he envisioned Miller coming off the bench, running pick and rolls with Oden and funneling fast-break passes to Fernandez and Webster streaking on the wings.

"The one thing is, I don't (mess) around with you in the summer," McMillan said, becoming stern. "When I tell you something, that is what I'm thinking. So when I told Andre that he was coming off the bench, I was for real. Now, he said he wanted to start, and I understand that. And there is a chance he could. I'm not saying we won't go there."

Miller, meanwhile, doesn't want the conversation to go there right now. He said he remembers what was said in the Las Vegas dinner, but added "that was in the past."

Josh McRoberts looking great out there. His stats aren't impressive but he's always making the right pass.

He was basically absent for the entire playoffs. He was also worse than the year before.
