Do the salaries even match? Genuinely curious.

Yes. Plumlee is 8M and Grant is 20M. McCollum is 31.

Not sure why Detroit would do it though, other than they're stupid. Two way forwards are the most in demand commodity in the league. Grant could fetch much more.

I heard a guy last night proposing a trade for CJ from the Pistons for Mason Plumlee and Jerami Grant.......thought it was an interesting trade idea...guy is a Pistons fan....would put CJ in a position to have his own team and a green light to score as well as a big chance he makes the allstar team in the east...would give us a guy who can pass like Nurk and who Dame really likes to replace Kanter and Grant is a good player as well..would also clear some cap space I believe
So I was going to say I'd do that in a heartbeat (which I would) and then say that the guy who proposed it was probably an undercover Blazers fan but then I looked at the Pistons roster and even though CJ would be pretty old for them he would be the ideal back court mate for Hayes. If they actually do get the number 2 pick which is where they're slotted before the draft lottery they'd take Mobley and play him in the front court with someone that funny enough we technically drafted in Isiah Stewart. They'd have a hell of a team and it would compete in the playoffs a lot quicker because of CJ.

That idea will depend on the draft lottery though.

If they draft Mobley and like Stewart, I could see this happening. CJ is such a good match with Hayes in the back court.

Grant makes 19 million and Plumlee makes 8 million...that's 27 million...
CJ makes 29 million so that should work

Yowzers I didn't know Grant made that. That's... absurd. Isn't he essentially their #1? Dunno why Detroit does this.

He was their number one that led them to the second worst record in the league and that was playing against a weak Eastern conference.

Dunno why they would do that. Are they trying to win? If so, sure maybe 30 year old McCollum makes sense. But looking up and down that roster there's no chance they even make the play in game with or without McCollum.

So they would have to really like McCollum as a player. Enough to trade their existing number 1 option, who they also liked a lot - since they gave him that huge deal that was considered overpaying at the time.

They have a lot of young players that could pop and they have the second best lottery chance in the draft. They could go from the bottom of the East to a playoff team if CJ blossomed without Dame guys like Hayes, Bey and Stewart took a step forward and they got a guy like Mobley and he was an instant difference maker.

I'm not saying I would do it if I were Detroit, I just understand why some fan would like it. I actually think it would make sense for them to ask for a future first if Neil proposed the deal.

Don't know why they trade Blake Griffin either but they didn't win with Grant and they need an identity....you ask fans around the globe who CJ is and thay know....ask them who Grant is and they'll tell you he was president after the Civil War

They traded Blake because he quit on them lol.

Grant would be an expensive bench piece. Lol. I jest, but would he be our starting 2? And does that balance our roster better than having Norman as our starting 2 would.

It's very accurate to say that teams don't game plan for Seth the way they do for CJ. Seeing that they likely look at him like he is the fourth scoring option after Embiid, Harris and Simmons.
Although Curry's superior playoff stats include series with Portland and Dallas.

Grant is a 3 that moves up to the 4 very easily with his length (7'3" wingspan) and height (6'8"). The idea would be to acquire Grant and re-sign Norm. Also even though he didn't grow up here Jerami was born here when Harvey was playing for us.

Yeah, Seth was coming off the bench before he got to Philly so you're only driving my point further home because before this season he was playing against bench defenders.

Oh. I'm an idiot.

I should put that as my signature. Remove all doubt.

He was only scoring 12-13 points a game his last two years with Denver. With Pistons he scored 22 but his efficiency went way down.

Man Nate McMillan, Monty Williams and Rebecca Harlowe are all in the playoffs 2nd round. Where are the Blazers?

I would like the comment but I don't agree. Who among us knows every fucking good player in the league. It's not like Grant is some stalwart all star. I enjoy your takes... so don't change your signature.

Lmao. I just like the thought of if I make some amazing post filled with big words and stats and graphs that at the end it'd just say "I'm an idiot."

Waiting for all of them to be bumped from the playoffs so we can interview coaches?

Playoff P making an appearance, once again.
Not sure I’d trade CJ for him

Man Utah completely lapped us even after losing Gordan Hayward lol

I wonder how many people thought it was a great hire when the Jazz hired Quinn Snyder? I think we have as good of a roster as the Jazz, or not far off from it. Sometimes a coach and a system can make a big difference.

In a heartbeat, I'd take Playoff P for CJ. Get the guy a sports psychologist or just understand that his jumper isn't what you rely on in the playoffs. You still have his D and athletic ability to get to the hole. Hopefully you have a breakthrough though, especially since he's never had a teammate with the kind of positivity Dame brings.
