Man watching these teams Blazers are NOWHERE near competing in any western conference playoffs. Like I been saying I wish we just kept our lottery pick

man i wish we played with the kinda aggression that utah is playing with. everything is done with conviction: crashing the glass, fighting thru screens, cutting, etc etc.

it's a culture

In a heartbeat, I'd take Playoff P for CJ. Get the guy a sports psychologist or just understand that his jumper isn't what you rely on in the playoffs. You still have his D and athletic ability to get to the hole. Hopefully you have a breakthrough though, especially since he's never had a teammate with the kind of positivity Dame brings.
PG is an absolute ELITE #2 in the right environment. I watched him closely in indy for a while. He's a follower if there ever was one and needs a nurturing environment with a guy who would be in his ear being positive. the only leader he's played with who he could play off of was Russ and he had MVP numbers with him. Kawhi and he are clunky fit-- lot like Dame & CJ.

also, the elite defense is why i'd bring him in.

He isn’t even good defensively anymore. He is getting cooked. You watching? He’s not even closing out on 3s. It’s actually funny. Just search Twitter.

There is a reason Kawhi is their go to option on offense and defense. If PG was even *decent* they’d have him on Luka / Mitchell to preserve Kawhi on offense.

You can’t rely on him in the playoffs, period.

His athletic ability is diminished as well, which has probably aided in his increasingly worse defense. (Which they don’t even put him on number 1 options.)

And it’s not that I don’t think PG as a talent is worse than CJ. I just think if PG is the best we can do, might as well ship CJ out for multiple players cuz it’s clear PG isn’t the answer in the playoffs.

And, like Collins (always injured), I’m not one to hope for breakthroughs.

And it’s not like we would get CJ for PG straight up.

i dont undrestand what ty lue is doing.

what is the point of rondo when kawhi/george initiate every offensive possession? he's a liability off the ball and a massive negative on defense

Maybe with the Kawhi/Billups relationship we can get him to come here in 2022 if Billups gets the job and overachieves this coming season.

PG might legitimately have psychological performance issues. he shuts down when there is pressure and knows it, and knows basketball fans are just waiting for it to happen.

Oh wow no Conley for Utah as well?! Jesus Christ blow up the blazers man we are so far behind

There is absolutely no "might" about it. Paul George has serious performance anxiety issues. You don't have the type of fall off the guy does without a reason. He misses too many shots that he makes in the regular season whenever he plays in the playoffs. Cliff Robinson albeit not as big of a star, really failed to show up for us in the playoffs and it got a lot worse when he became our number one guy.

So I'm hoping that PG is seeing someone but it was mentioned in here before... who has the guy played with that would lift him up? Right now he's got the quietest guy in the league as his running mate, he's had Russ and was kind of on his own before that. None of that is what Dame would bring him. I'm sure his coaches are good but if you're taking a pass from a guy who is a huge, vocal supporter of yours... it's just different.

I hope the Clippers continue to implode and I hope we can get PG13 for CJ, DJ and future draft considerations. Dame, Norm, PG, RoCo and Nurk would be legit as a starting lineup. Hopefully Zach will be healthy, we'll use the MLE on a backup point and we'll see Ant and Nas continue to grow. That would be a helluva team. Especially if coached by the right person.

I was curious about all the 'Paul George sucks in playoffs' stuff:

PER: regular season 19.4....playoffs 17.7
TS%: regular season .568....playoffs .560
FT Rate: regular season .300....playoffs .383
Reb Rate: regular season 10.5%....playoffs 10.7%
assist rate: regular season 17.6%....playoffs 18.3%
winshares/48: regular season .153....playoffs .135
BPM: regular season 4.1....playoffs 3.7

I'm seeing some fall-off, but I don't see the drastic fall-off like being talked about here. There's always more defensive resistance in the playoffs so a drop in efficiency and shooting percentages is pretty normal. Happens to Dame and CJ too. In the playoffs, PG increases his FT's, rebounding and assists.

I've always thought the narrative of him choking in the playoffs was kind of exaggerated. The numbers tend to confirm that

Look at his three point shooting and just jump shooting in general. He's a smart player and he tries to make up for it by getting to the line and hoop more but his jump shot just isn't the same (and it's even more apparent watching the games and seeing how far off a lot of his misses are in the playoffs).

It's not a false narrative unless it's people saying that he's completely useless in the playoffs because he's not, his jumper just isn't there for him.

Olshey had us in a corner where we couldn't. Also don't think he would have wanted to as Stotts and the rest of the team didn't utilize him enough.
Or you could say Seth had played well enough that he commanded too large a contract. Dallas had the money. Of course he isn't playing there any longer either. I'm betting Luka right now wishes he had Seth as well.

I would like the comment but I don't agree. Who among us knows every fucking good player in the league. It's not like Grant is some stalwart all star. I enjoy your takes... so don't change your signature.
Exactly!

Were you even around 8 years ago? Were you watching and following this team 10 years ago?
Does the Name Wesley Mathews ring a bell?
Lamarcus Aldridge?
How about Nic batum?
Have you ever heard of Robin Lopez?
Did you ever hear of a guy named Brandon Roy?
Here is a real history maker. Greg Oden?

You mean how the Utah Jazz lost in the first round the last 2 years?

And their early playoff successes are very similar?

If you’re interested, Collins had 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 blocks in Game 6 against the Nuggets in 2019. I think it’s safe to say he would’ve helped this time. He’s certainly better than RHJ.
Some of these people don't have know clue what's he brings to the table.

Dude, Aldo isn’t even half way through high school. He wasn’t old enough to really watch them play……
