Politics OFFICIAL AROUND THE TRUMP LEGAL DRAMA: MAY & JUNE 2024

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Prior to sentencing, convicted defendant must meet in parole office for pre sentencing interview. Just him. To assess his personal history, mental health, attitude, his views on what led to this moment, finances, etc. Results reported to judge to aid in deciding sentence.
Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall of that hearing room? Trump would blather his way into the death penalty if it existed for his crimes......

No one should be above the law. But the only person in the US that would have these kinds of charges levied against him is Donald Trump. The onslaught of frivolous lawsuits is clearly political, which is a rubicon we just now crossed.

You know that Obama actually had someone murdered? Hillary fraudlently hid that she funded the Steele Dossier, a worse crime than paying a woman hush money in my view. No one should be above the law, but this is selective prosecution, aimed at a political enemy.

Anyone who celebrates this ridiculous conviction is an absolute twit. Not only is it absurd legally, but the precedent this sets will end up ending our nation. Do you really believe there will be no retaliation? Trump is still going to be elected sweetheart.
no one is going to engage with you no matter how nutty you want to get. But please post more for everyone to enjoy... thank you!

Community service, lots and lots of community service.

Trump can make America great again, by picking up litter.
He'd get to wear a vest that matches his face! I'm imagining the mirrored glasses wearing Secret Service agents hovering as he's bending down for trash along the freeway... motorists from across the country would migrate to NY freeways to honk their horns & say hello.

Of course this would only last so long as the other pending cases will definitely bring hard time

I'd migrate to NY just so I could dump trash on whatever stretch of highway he was working.......

It’s hardly worth arguing. There isn’t a more dubious conviction you could invent that the left wouldn’t cheer for. It’s just the nature of this situation, this is about vengeance and political interference, not legality or justice. 99% of the people cheering don’t have even a basic understanding of what these charges even are, and they don’t care either. That’s where we are at. The irreversible damage done to the justice system seems to be a fair trade to see Trump get convicted of something. The fact this same type of weaponization will undoubtedly be used against their side in the near future escapes them. The precedent has been set and there is no going back. Couple all this with the fact that Trump will probably be the next president and it gives one something to ponder.

Cope harder.

Dubious or not, convicting Trump of a crime is looong overdue.

It was known long before Trump got into tv, and politics. That he was a very shady operator, and that is bring kind.

Trumps conviction reminds me of Al Capone's. It was known Al was involved in many shady activities. From bribery, prostitution, murder and more. Never convicted on any of them. He went to prison on the dubious charge of income tax evasion.

There is one word to discribe Trumps conviction.

Karma!

This is all you had to say. You speak for the entire left.
But at least you’re honest about it. Most here will go to their graves defending some novel legal theories they don’t even begin to understand. Then they will cry when the same shit gets used by a corrupt Republican administration in the future.

Not a cope. This was all expected. Just waiting patiently. Enjoy your small wins and short term pleasures.
Short term? Yeah I guess as change is the only constant in life, but it sure has been one loss after another for Putin’s GOP since the initial scam election of 2016. Especially since the Supremes overreached with Roe this snowball has been headed downhill picking up speed.

The sooner the right accepts what a toxic loser Trump truly is and that all the conspiracies masquerading as news are in fact just bullshit the sooner the right may start to win again. Hell, adopting some policies the majority of voters like couldn’t hurt their chances either. In the meantime I expect this short term to last for quite a while

There was nothing dubious about Al Capone's tax conviction. What you could say is that they threw the book at him and he got the maximum penalty for this conviction probably because the judges were aware that this is just one of the many transgressions they could punish him. Same with Trump's conviction, there is nothing dubious about it. The law is clear, it was demonstrated that he clearly did not adhere to it and he was found guilty by a jury of his peers, there are no questions that this happened and that the transgressions happened.

Now, the only question is - is the judge going to show any leniency in administering punishment or not. That's probably where the Al Capone comparison comes. At the end of the day, we all know that just as Al Capone was a criminal, so is DJT. It's just what they can catch him on. Both were/are rich people that used intimidation and their money to escape judgement often, but just like Al Capone, when you commit so many crimes, sooner or later they will catch you on some of them.

Misdemeanors were transferred to felonies using extremely novel judicial theories that are completely historically unprecedented in an instance like this.
So no, the law is not “clear” as you are suggesting. They were “clear” misdemeanors initially, and ones that are rarely prosecuted at that. Any legal expert from any side of the aisle will tell you how blatant the fuckery is. Many legal analysts from the left are even throwing in the towel on the defense of this. The fact you have to dance around a comparison of Al Capone and how the justice system was more or less used as vengeance for unproven transgressions says alot.

Falsifying business records in the first degree is a Class E felony according to New York law.

Falsifying business records to the 2nd degree is a misdemeanor.

Charges for falsifying business records can be enhanced based on circumstances. A person is considered guilty of falsifying records in the first degree if he or she did any of the following:

  • Committed the crime of falsifying business records in the second degree; and
  • When his or her intent to defraud includes an intent to commit another crime; or
  • The purpose is to aid or conceal the commission of a crime.

There is nothing novel about that, this has been a part of the law for a very long time in the state of New York. All the prosecution had to do was to prove:

1. falsifying business document
2. one of the other 2 items that were mentioned above, per the law.

Clearly, the trial persuaded the jury that the crime fit the 1st degree, thus, no longer a misdemeanor.

Just because DJT was found and convicted of it does not make it "unusual or blatant or rarely prosecuted".

What you can say is that it is unusual for people convicted of this crime for the first time to get jail time. That, the stats show is correct. But, I would not be surprised if the Judge comes hard at him, given said Al Capone precedence.

The max jail time for this crime in NY is 4 years. I am not sure how many of these items he was found guilty of are falsifying business record to the first degree, because if there are multiple of those, I would argue that it shows a pattern of behavior and the judge is more likely to issue jail time, but I really did not read the details. Too much of my life has already been taken by listening to or about that bafoon.

You mean like right now in every poll in every swing state?
Are you predicting another red wave? You just keep on cherry picking whatever BS you need to support an alternative reality I’m siting what has actually happened.

The big problem with @beast crnjo and @jonnyboy's spin on this is the Feds have already brought this case against someone else. The Trump Justice Department brought this case against.... Michael Cohen. And Cohen was sentenced to three years for it.

December 12, 2018

President Donald Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday for crimes that included arranging payments during the 2016 election to silence women who claimed affairs with Trump after the President’s onetime “fixer” attributed his offenses to “my duty to cover up his dirty deeds.”

Trump made everything political, for his entire fours years. So Trump is no special case. Trump just thinks he is due to his raging narcissism.

Everything is political with both the democrats and republicans. They eat, sleep and breathe hatred for each other. And it plays out in both sides media, literally every single day.

I am all for freedom of speech. But the democrats and republicans media both dehumanizing the other party all day long. Should never be allowed. It only leads to what we see today. Two-party hatred of each other. Extremism on both sides. The Divided States of America, by our media...

Donald Trump whines he 'wanted to testify' in unhinged rant after felony convictions

In a bizarre rant the day after his criminal conviction, disgraced felon and 2020 Presidential loser Donald Trump said that he wanted to testify during his month-long Manhattan trial.

He also called Joe Biden, his presumptive opponent in the 2024 general election, a "fascist" and claimed that the Democratic candidate wanted to prevent people from driving cars.

Trump, along with many other Republicans, have moaned since he was convicted Thursday night. He has repeatedly claimed that the trial was a "witch hunt" and a partisan attack by Biden. The case was brought against Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, however, who has no link to the federal government. He continued to make these claims during his Friday speech at his eponymous tower in Mid-town Manhattan.

Trump made the speech with no teleprompter, rambling off speech and jumping between unrelated topics with little rhyme or reason. It is unclear what the point of this speech was, as he did not say anything he had not said before.

The president notably did not testify at his own criminal trial. He told the crowd on Friday that he was "upset" with his lawyers for how they handled the case, adding that he wanted to testify.

"It was very unfair," he said of the trial. He continuously referenced a frequent pain point, the gag order he was subject to to prevent him from harassing witnesses or the jury on social media. He was slapped with 10 gag order violations, racking up thousands of dollars worth of fines. He was even threatened with jail time if he continued to break the rules to him.

"The judge was a tyrant," he continued, once again targeting Justice Juan Merchan, who oversaw the case and issued the gag order.

"[I've] never seen anyone treated like that by a judge," he went on to say. "He's conflicted, and he's a crooked judge."

Merchan became a popular target for Trump in recent weeks, as he is one of the few figures in the trial who was not covered by the order.

The convicted felon could face up to four years of prison for each of the 34 counts he was convicted of. In total, he could serve a maximum sentence of 20 years. However, because he has a clean criminal record, is old at 77, and did not commit a violent crime, many do not believe he will face a prison sentence.

Trump's legal team is expected to appeal the conviction. They have until June 13 to file for an appeal.

Mike Lindell said Democrats are flocking to his office to tell him they will now vote for Trump. Because nothing like 34 felony convictions to get someone to switch parties to the party of the felon.

Jesse Waters blames the Jews. Because of course.

What's with this deflection of attributes onto Biden? Trump is a fascist so, he calls Biden fascist. Trump's family is a crime family, so he calls Biden's family a crime family. Etc etc etc. Some weak ass shit.

To be fair, Judge Merchan was very very patient with Trump. Just levied him some fines for his gag order violations that his supporters paid for. Could have put him in jail, but didn't. Smart on his part. Will help the conviction stay in place. Trump trying to say he is corrupt and all that jazz, but Merchan towed the line.

Yeah, all these people on the right seem to be forgetting we didn't just reach a new rubicon, we were already there. Trump used the justice system already to go after political opponents. He always was chanting about locking up Hillary and Obama and other political opponents or enemies.

Had Cohen locked for the same shit he just got convicted for, but he should go free?

He's a felon now regardless. Like he said, he shouldn't be able to run. It would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis.

I have always found it interesting how Trump and his supports always try to portray Biden as having any of trumps negative attributes. Don't forget, how many times has Trump been charged with Rape, so they make up stories about Biden and then if you bring up Trump has actually been charged, it is a political hit job. Trump and his family were getting 2B from the Saudi's, how many patents did Trump's family get from China while in office so we get China Joe. The real sad part is his supports eat it all up and promote it and then accuse anyone who tried to point out the reality to them, they accuse you of being a sheep. It is scary how brainwashed some of these people are.

I’d place more blame on gerrymandering for the divide in our politics. If only one side has a chance to win a voting area, there is no motivation to find common ground. Politicians who do in those areas are voted out

It's pretty clear who the sheep are.
