TDS runs strong on this message board. You're seeing everything through the lens of blind hatred of Trump. Converting hush money payments into 32 felonies, just before the election. You have to admit this is using the judicial system to suppress an opponent. If you're in favor of that fine, just spare everyone the babble about it being about justice.

Also engage your higher thinking skills for a moment and ask what this does to the future of our nation. People may look back at this as being one of the key moments that spelled the end of the US.

Meanwhile, Biden is possibly leading us to nuclear annhilation, and you cheer that on as well. It's becoming clear to me, that people are too stupid for society to function. Maybe we do need a nuclear war to start over.

It’s hardly worth arguing. There isn’t a more dubious conviction you could invent that the left wouldn’t cheer for. It’s just the nature of this situation, this is about vengeance and political interference, not legality or justice. 99% of the people cheering don’t have even a basic understanding of what these charges even are, and they don’t care either. That’s where we are at. The irreversible damage done to the justice system seems to be a fair trade to see Trump get convicted of something. The fact this same type of weaponization will undoubtedly be used against their side in the near future escapes them. The precedent has been set and there is no going back. Couple all this with the fact that Trump will probably be the next president and it gives one something to ponder.

Correct, and well said. You don't need to be a Trump fan to understand this. The statute of limtations had expired on it as well. If they were going after him for a serious offense, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But they dogpiled him all at once with these ridiculous cases.

A serious offense...hmm, like murder perhaps? How would these folks feel if Obama, somehow regained the right to run, and then had murder charges brought against him.

Obama for murder charges? Good luck convincing a jury of that

you need evidence to convict, which is a great precedent.

Yeah, you aren't going to be able to convict a president because his administration took out terrorists. You'd have to charge Bush jr and Trump too if that were the case.

The State of New York had a shit ton of evidence to convict Trump. Didn't make one whit of difference to Republicans. All that matters is their feelings, regardless of what the truth actually is....and is shown to be.

It’s funny, this forum is the only place I ravenously get called a “maga” or Trump supporter. You can’t question ANYTHING on the Democrat side of the aisle without the pitchforks and torches getting busted out. It’s not even that this place is ‘hardcore left’ because it’s really not. It’s sort of this older demographic of people that become EXTREMELY uncomfortable when you start questioning the monolithic power structures that are in place. It’s really just Bush era republicanism rebranded with this disingenuous corporate wokeism that you see everywhere. If you buy some rainbow shit from Target and repeat a few ‘inclusive’ slogans, then you’ve payed your dues and can support killing children and starting wars all over and not feel bad about it, even defend it using that ideology. It’s really no different than Bush era right wing christians, the Democrats have just found a different moral high ground and ideology to push their wars and corruption. And that really seems to be the over-arching political sentiment i see here.

I question the Democrat side all the time... Nobody has called me any of that...

Not true.

I strongly disagre with 80-90% of the dems platform. And respectfuly state my case. I have taken many shots at the left on this site, when the timing is right. My opinions don't get many likes, but, it makes others think about my views, well, some think about them..

I have two problems with the far right.

Trump is a piece of shit. And has been since long before getting into politics. I don't care how the law caught up with Trump, just tickled pink they did.

The far right is now just as out of touch with what is right and wrong, as the far left.

Excuse errors, having trouble this morn.

Respect this post. Im one forum member who didn’t vote for Hillary or Trump but I did vote against Trump last time around. I have no love for Biden’s hawkish politics at all but when it comes to the lesser of two evils it’s not even close. I have zero trust in trumps talipublican cult and anyone voting for the guy I find very suspect

Ummm.....wasn't it Reagan that went to war with Grenada and Panama?? And Bush1 who went after Iraq? And Bush2 that brought us Afghanistan and yet another war with Iraq??? And then there was the Iran/Contra scandal during the Reagan era. I could go on but hopefully you get my point.

The "older demographic" was young once, and I can guarantee-fuckin-tee you (and Beastie Boy) most if not all of us held very similar opinions back in the day as you guys do now. Unfortunately, life and the unpleasant realities that come with it intervened. Maybe you'd have had to have grown up hiding under school desks, but the wide world is not all rainbows and unicorns, and sometimes you have to put up your dukes. Or so that is the message the Right has been selling us for decades. Please forgive the Left for paying attention.......

Voted for Johnson in 16 and Joe 20. Seems when I vote for President any more Im voting, for lessor of two evils. This is the most embarrassing President election Ive ever voted in and it may be the only one I dont vote for President. I may just write in a younger competent person that I have admiration for?

Not really accurate to say Reagan went to war with Grenada. Grenada was a country with a total population of 100,000, barely a city in the U S. Reagan invaded after a rightist coup overthrew a popular government. The population didn't fight because they had nothing to fight for.

I'd like to think most people are immune to the whack-a-doodle BS the establishment spews, but yeah, this place is very discouraging on that front.

What happened with Trump, is basically like the DA of Alabama pinning 50 felonies on Biden because he looked at people funny the last time he was in Birmingham. And if you get a corrupt judge and 12 jurors that hate him, they'll convict him on those grounds. Then we get to say "woo! No one is above the law!"....

Trump committed a bunch of crimes.
If it were remotely possible for "the DA of Alabama" to pin 50 felonies on Biden, that would have already happened. It's not like there aren't rabid partisans in red states eager to "Lock her (him) up".

Donald Trump is the King of whack a doodle BS and it's not even close. We get to say no one is above the law because the truth is the truth. Not for some team sports political allegiance. Choices. Shut off your tv and radio if you don't trust your own filters to deal with media spin on politics. I think most of us figured that out when we were about 7 years old. You conservatives haven't distinguished the difference between the Associated Press and a Steve Bannon editorial. Consider the source

Well, you are in Wyoming, a place where even Liz Cheney is too damn lib'rul.

You can’t question ANYTHING on the Democrat side of the aisle without the pitchforks and torches getting busted out.

Nah. We are quite willing to call out our own when they deserve it. Lots of people here think Biden is doing all the wrong things w.r.t. Gaza.
No one would dream of defending Bob Menendez. Etc.

It’s not even that this place is ‘hardcore left’ because it’s really not.

That's correct.

It’s sort of this older demographic of people that become EXTREMELY uncomfortable when you start questioning the monolithic power structures that are in place.

Or maybe it's when you start saying things that don't make sense. The opposite of 'establishment' isn't 'nonsense'.

Semantics. If American citizens died in defense of this country or another, it's a war, plain and simple. We encroached on Grenade, regardless of reason. Americans died. I guess I'm not sure what your point was supposed to be, but Republicans don't get a pass because Grenadians were didn't fight. The people (mainly Cubans) who caused us to be there certainly fought (badly or otherwise). We engaged in an act of aggression. Close enough to be called a war......

Or if, say, Biden had gotten a BJ in the oval office...

Former head of the SDNY, Preet Bharara, has a pretty good podcast. His most recent podcast covers the verdict and him and his guests go over which of the many appeals have the greatest chance of succeeding.

A Manhattan jury convicted former President Donald Trump of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The guilty verdict marks the first time in U.S. history that a former president has been found guilty of a crime, and it also makes Trump the first presidential candidate to run as a convicted felon.

On a special episode of Stay Tuned, Preet is joined by his CAFE Insider co-host and former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama Joyce Vance, CAFE Contributor and CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig, and Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah.

They discuss the historic verdict, reflect on the trial, and look ahead to sentencing and appeal arguments.

Most definitely not giving Republicans or Reagan a pass. Just that to me a war means two sides fighting.
Average age of Cuban volunteers was over 50. They really weren't soldiers. Off topic, but something I had involvement in including personal contacts.

Has he? He was doing business in NY for 40+ years and never had charges filed against him, now suddenly he's being dogpiled with nonsense.

Please sit there and tell me this is not political. Paying someone money for an NDA isn't even a crime. If it were a campaign reporting crime, that's under the jurisdiction of the FEC who looked at this and said it wasn't an issue. The funds have to be objectively for a campaign thing like a rally or mailings etc.

This would be like if Michele Obama got a boob job right in South Carolina before the 2028 election and gone prosecuted by the DA of South Carolina for felonies for not reporting it as being for her campainge.

Just so fucking fucking stupid. And you lemmings clap for it.
