At that time, I thought the Knicks would make a run and it was too early for them to tank. As I said before, if they took advantage of their opportunities, they would be 1 game short of the playoffs and 2 for the Atlantic. Now, seeing other teams, seeing other players I think we shoudl just give up. A final run could have been successful if it had been started earlier, but it wasn't and we should think more about the future.

Well it's all about your opinion of classification. I consider a great player what you would consider good. If I was saying Crawford could be Jordan, Kobe, Shaq etc. I would have said so.

Charlie Villanueva matched his career high with 25 points on 9-14 shooting ysterday in a win over Notre Dame. He said that when it's starting to get February and April, we [Huskies] start to step up. He also said We're repeating this year. Strong statements up there. Does that remind anyone of what Marbury said? The last thing we need is the basketball gods punishing us even more. The Huskies better repeat. Anyway, I think he can become a good fit for us. He's athletic, can block shots, rebound and shoot a little. Doing some more research on Petro, I like him even more. He kind of reminds me of Marcus Camby and I wouldn't mind having another one. The question is, how much heart does he play with? A big part of Camby was his desire to win, and his skills and attitude is what made him one of my favorite Knicks. I want someone who can really help us and start playing a role immediately. We will have to see workouts and further analysis of the players in June though. I wonder what Isiah will do.

I think it's unlikely Villanueva will be in the draft. It's best for him to play one more year with Rudy and Boone to see how he improves, and if they can go deep again like in 2004, because this year, it's unlikely that they'll repeat. He doesn't have great work ethic, and he doses off on the court at times. He has great talent, but that's not the player I would want on my team, especially if I'm building around young guns in Crawford, Sweetney, Ariza, (2005 pick) etc. For this year...I'd be looking more at Ray Felton, Daniel Gibson and Deron Williams. For SF...Aleksandrov looks like a reasonable pick, however, he has not really improved since the end of last season.

Villainueva will more than likely be in the draft his year if he performs decently. He wanted to go pro since high school but decided to do the smart thing and went to college to improve his stock. Despite the fact that he loses focus from time to time and doesnt seem to have a good work ethic his size, athleticism, versatility and potential will ensure he doesnt fall out of the lottery. But I'm not so sure about having him on my team either. He can work out very well for us or he can be a complete waste of potential and time. And we already have enough wasted potential on our team.

If we cant get Bogut the next player we should be looking to get is Tiago Splitter. Good post up game, athletic, can put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket, can block shots if he really wanted to, overall smart player. Only real issue with his is that he has no jumpshot. But his mechanics arent bad and he used to be able to shoot from the midrange so if he works at it he can probably be a good shooter. If he can get a midrange jumper and bulk up some I'm sure Agguire would be able to do wonders with him.

I dont know about Petro. He's projected to go in the middle of the first round and doesnt have alot offense. Granted we do need more defense but Tiago also plays defense and can be a good offensive threat. If we cant get Tiago then we should take a gamble on Villainueva. By the way is it possible to get the number one pick by trading Marbury?

Highly, HIGHLY doubt anyone is going to trade the #1 pick for Marbury. If you're talking about trading him to a team that's destined for the lottery, then yeah theoratically it could happen.

Could we trade Marbury, our pick for their #1 throw in? I think that might be looked at.

No. I don't think any of the teams who potentially 'have' the #1 could match Marbury's contract. Plus Marbury isn't the ideal piece for a rebuilding franchise (to put it nicely).

That's what I said before however, many people felt that I was bugging and Marbury isn't worth a lottery. Throwing our pick would just 'seal the deal.' I wish Isiah would wake up and smell the coffe. How can you ignore the fact everywhere Marbury goes, losing follows him. As if the Hawks can suck enough. Marbury at the very least will put fans in their seats and still give you 20ppg. Even if Antoine leaves, they still save a ton of cap room to sign someone half way decent. If we get Bogut through Marbury, we should draft a point guard with our pick. Paul would probably be gone by the time so Maybe a look at Felton and the rest of them would be good.

I don't think Splitter demands the same respect as a Petro down low. We need some offense, but our defensive woes is what hurts us the most in games. With Ariza and Sweetney and Crawford only getting better, would you want to acquire a defensive monster who can rebound? I think Aguirre can teach him a thing or two so he wont be completely useless. From what I have read, he can develop into a possible 12/10/ 2-3bpg kind of guy. I would take that in a minute. I also heard he can be a Tyson Chandler, or maybe even a Theo Ratliff. We need a shot tosser or a Bogut. Please Isiah find a way to get Bogut.

Actually some people say Splitter's defense is better than his offense. He's not a bad defender at all in fact he's pretty good. He knows how to battle for position, has good footwork on both ends of the court, he plays good team defense and his athleticism combined with his wingspan could make him a serious shot blocking prescence. I think if he practices his jumpshot, gets stronger, works out with Agguire he could, and is encouraged to go for the block(he's too smart to risk his defensive position to go for the block but he could be a good shot blocker if he really wanted to) he could be an all around great center on both defense and offense.

I didn't know he was that good of a defender. He doesn't seem to compliment Sweetney well though. He sounds decent, but I like the 7'2 and Nemanja better. Nemanja is just a great shooter and once Allan comes back, him and Nem along with a post threat in Sweetney (Imagine him in another offseason!) along with a good PG (if we have one.) That team right there would be pretty solid. If not Nems, I really like the 7'2 he seems to be really promising. What do you like about Splitter more than him? By all means necessary, we need Bogut.

I would package sweetney, and our lottery pick for Bogut but anything else is too much.

I wouldn't package sweetney with anything to get Bogut. If we cant draft him I dont think we should trade Sweetney for him especially since we've never seen him play at the NBA level. Thats a rsik that we really have no reason to take.

I don't know, Bogut played in the Olympics so he is pretty mature, but I thought Sweetney should be enough. He is a great player and when give minutes he produces. I just don't understand why people love to knock on him for.

If the New York Knicks could package a trade with Michael Sweetney in order to get Andrew Bogut, it must be done.

I know people will say Andrew Bogut hasn't played on the NBA level, but whatever this guy is a better passer, shooter, has more post moves, and if he isn't as good of a rebounder, I'm sure in time he'll prove to be.
Andrew Bogut is better than Michael Sweetney, and will be, and if he could land in New York, that would be huge for the New York Knicks.

Though I doubt it will happen, but wishful thinking always brings in positive thoughts, lol.

Don't get me wrong though, I am big on Mike Sweetney, and I think he brings a nice rebounding game with him, and given time I'm sure he can produce, I just wish he had more range on that jumpshot of his. But I regard him highly in my books.

Yeah, but Sweetney is come along with that eventually. Probably next year. Last year he was working on post moves and stuff like reverse layups and stuff. He has a little fade away but it's when he's posting up. Once he gets a good jumpshot mark my words...it's a wrap! He'd be tearing it up. He'll work on that this coming summer and once he gets that it's over. I think he has one of the best post games among young players in the league. Some of the stuff he does has my eyes in shock! Now I am 100% confident when he posts up anyone.

Just as good...Brands more of an athlete, but Sweetney has better moves.
