Drafting a RB 2nd is not a good move. I don't care about his injury, that is the case either way. It is about positional value. His injury just hammers it home even more because RB's take a beating, hence most of their careers are done and shot by 30. He had a down year last year, he is missing 14 + games this year, and even if he comes back great, which I expect he will actually, it still is not smart to take a RB # 2. You can get good RB's all over the draft, and that is proven year after year.
As for the Rangers trading away their picks, and I am sure this will go above your pea brain, they actually did 10000000000000000% the right thing. Let's look at it. They had a window open for years, they made many long runs, they got close to a SC, and then SMARTLY once they started to trend down Gorton immediately pulled the plug BEFORE their players lost their value, and then restocked their system in 2 years. Now they head into next season as a legit playoff team, and soon a legit SC team after 3 or 4 years. To me that proves Sather/Gorton played it exactly right. Go all in to win, okay didn't fully work, but pull the plug early enough to recoup many picks. And yes they got some good breaks with the # 2 and # 1 picks in back to back years, but you need that luck sometimes to help move things along. So yeah Sather/Gorton played it perfectly, and kudos to them for an amazing strategy.
A portion of the 6 or 7 posters on here are so lost sometimes it is really comical. You have one guy who says stop getting on Jones because he has sh*t around him. And at the same time he says oh the GM of 3 years has done a really good job, and deserves to be here. That makes no sense. Those are 100% opposing viewpoints, but the mental midget doesn't get that. Same guy says oh what a terrible job dealing all our picks to actually win a cup. But he is too lost to understand that given how quickly the system has been restocked it proves the way the Rangers played their open window was spot on. Another guy who cannot comprehend things enough to understand the fact that Barkley got hurt this year has about 1% to do with proving the downside of drafting a RB # 2. Even if he was great, it is still not smart to take a RB # 2. The fact that 2 of his 3 seasons have been below average/poor, is simply more fuel on the fire, but even if he was great like he was his rookie year, the fire was already burning by taking a RB # 2 to start with. And I expect him to be great when he returns next season, and it will still not be smart to pick a RB # 2.
