Gonna post this in the Brogdon AND the Grant threads

You can plug Grant and Brogdon right into the starting lineup with Embiid, Harris and Maxey and that's a pretty damn solid 5, with good shooting and good defense. But what do I know.

You want to serve the Sixers the championship on a silver platter for likely the next three or four years and give us Paul Reed, one future first and expiring contracts in return???

No, I don't think we need Reed back or any players whose minutes wouldn't be filled by Malcolm and Jerami. So just expirings and every first rounder they can trade which right now is just the three in the trade below. I don't care which expiring contracts are included but I imagine these are the players/contracts the Sixers would want in the deal. I would imagine every guy we would receive would eventually be bought out so they could contribute to a playoff team.

He is VERY low on Grant, basically doesn’t value him at all. Just a couple months ago he pitched Grant for Rubio, Okoro, and “SummerLeague MVP” (don’t even remember who he is honestly). No picks back.

It was something along those lines.

Yeah Jerami is just putting up a ton of points very efficiently and is a great defender 2-4... but yeah I'm sure no one would have value for that. He's even shown that he's probably more suited for SF and in so doing has shown he's a forward who could start at either spot for a team in need of more offensive fire power from their forwards without giving up any defense. Jerami isn't a great rebounder but that's all he's not good at. He definitely has value around the league... I know he has more value than @Rastapopoulos gives him... I'm just hoping Joe is somewhere between Rasta and unrealistically overvaluing Jerami. I also hope that Joe doesn't see Jerami as being invaluable to our current situation because I just don't see how he could be.

I don't think there needs to be rumors about Joe shopping Jerami and Malcolm, there are enough rumors about teams that would want them. Joe just has to be willing to pull the trigger on the best deal before the deadline.

I came up with reasonably justifiable trades that got us multiple draft picks, and space we can use as an asset going forward. You can feel free to find the flaw in the specific trades if you see it there.

Touchy! So I guess you should describe my trade as "1 draft pick, a 6'8" center and space we can use as an asset going forward" then.

Yes, that's precisely what it is, for presumably our two best veteran trade assets. We should be able to do better. 1 pick is not enough.
 
Cronin had to trade, waive, trade ~13 different Blazers, then add 2 picks to acquire then re-sign Jerami Grant.

I think the Blazers GM is basking in the fruits of his labor, and has 0 intentions of trading Jerami Grant.

Sadly, you're probably right.
 
FWIW, the messaging out of Portland media that is connected to the FO (Marang, Highkin, etc.) over the past month as been this:

- Blazers are not looking for draft picks. If they trade any of these guys, Grant, Malcolm, Tisse etc. they are looking for players that can conceivably be part of the future. A name that was thrown out was WCJ - not that it is who they would be targeting but just that kind of player, young-ish, can already play. The Blazers are not looking to take a step back on the court. The consensus is that they're not just going to move these guys for packages where picks (especially 2024 or late firsts) are the main prize. There will have to be a player component and right now that deal is not out there.

Could be posturing, sure, but that is the line of thought.

WCJ just thumbed someone in the eye last night. It dropped the dude like a stone. Got a flagrant for it. That's good dirty basketball, WCJ would be a great Blazer.

Definetly tracks. If we make a trade I want another Toumani Camara level prospect.
 
I'm really hoping that Jerami isn't actually out with a back injury tonight both because I don't want the guy to be in pain and also because I really want it to be because he's being traded.

1 draft pick, zero useful players, and no freed up playing time for our guards? That would be quite disappointing.

I'm aware of who Lyles is. He's an also-ran. A throw-in. Especially on a team that is trying to develop several other young forwards. He's not worth acquiring
