Lol, no thanks. I was fine with the Kris pick because he doesn’t look like he’ll be much worse than Keegan and he didn’t cost a top 20 pick. Overpaying for Keegan would just drive me crazy. Kings should overpay for Kris instead.

I actually wouldn't mind getting Keegan. He's a really solid starting 3 now. He'd replace Grant's shooting but I think play more within the flow of the offense. He's a very tradeable player if it doesn't work out.

Plus it would confuse teams to have twins on the floor at the same time? Who am I guarding, Kris or Keegan? They both look the same...

A lot might happen between now and Wednesday. After a slew of blowouts like we suffered big changes need to be made and all of these vets sitting tonight when they weren't injured last game makes me think we've got a trade or trades. I think the Malcolm trade may have already been in the works when we sat him for rest.

I’m hoping the Kings feel the same way and would trade us a 1st back + 2nds and Davion or something. We have 2 lotto picks and can find a wing. I’d rather just start Cody Williams than trade more for Murray. Doesn’t make much sense.

Or I’d just keep Kris and see if he’ll be a solid starting 3 before his rookie deal is up. Do you expect us to be good before the Kris rookie deal is over?

I’m guessing the worse deal out there is the Fournier + ‘24 DAL 1st?

Not terrible, the pick should be in the late teens/early 20’s? Maybe we trade up with it for the guy we absolutely want. Or trade out of one of the lottos for a ‘25 1st + whatever, and draft a center like Missi with the Mavs 1st?

I have no idea what’s actually out there though. I’m really not interested in WCJ and filler without the ‘25 DEN 1st. I know that’s an overpay from Orlando. You trade one of the high 2nds to even it out or something, but having 3 injured centers and no 1st involved from Brogdon would just be devastating.

grant and a first for Keegan Murray would not be overpaying, that would be the steal of a lifetime. Unfortunately the kings would laugh at us if we proposed that deal. Murray looks like he’ll be an elite glue guy that will be a plus at everything. On a rookie deal that is a very strong asset.

I don't see Kings giving up Keegan for Grant. Sacramento has good young talent on a rookie scale contract. If the Blazers trade Jerami, i'd expect a Pelican style Cronin special. Find a new Hart/Brogdon Blazer to rent for a pick, several contract scrubbing scrubs, and of course picks.

Ehh. I mean, if you like it, I love it.

Keegan has been mediocre. I'm not particularly hopeful for him.

I mean, he IS a nice player. But he’s in the Camara, Walker, Kris, Rupert tier to me, valuable role players, or guys who could become valuable role players. Keegan is better than all of those guys right now, sure, but still one of those guys nonetheless.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if he's a starter in this league in 5 years. I like Rupert as a prospect more.

saw a proposal Grant to Atlanta for Bogdan, Okongwu and a 24 1st. I don't know anything about Okongwu? Those of you who follow other teams more, what is the thought on this one?

I would do this immediately if the ATL pick had top 6 protection or less. Flip Bogdan for anything.

No way the Hawks do this, though. They love Okongwu and probably want to keep their lottery pick.

Respectfully I don’t think you guys have watched Keegan Murray much. He is not going to be a superstar but he is going to be a very good player.

So is he any good? If he is I would not worry about the draft pick. The problem I see is the matching contracts. I struggled to make it work on the ESPN trade machine. It is doable but multiple players would have to be involved, or a third team.

What exactly is making you feel this way? Because I said Kris could be close to Keegan-adjacent one day? I’ve already acknowledged what you’ve said, that he’s a very good player already that just won’t be a superstar. You mentioned great glue guy, we are NOT in the business of paying that much for glue guys when we don’t have a good enough roster set up.

Glue guys get drafted by teams to grow organically. OR, you trade for them down the line when you have a playoff ready team, like Memphis eventually trading for Marcus Smart. I’m not comparing Smart and Murray btw, that’s not my intent. I’m comparing when on the roadmap of Memphis’ window they acquired a glue guy, compared to where the Blazers are as a team right now.

negotiating 101?

I don't agree with the decision, if true, but I have suspected all along that Cronin doesn't intend to trade Grant at this trade deadline. I think the only player he'll likely shop is Brogdon
I truly hope it’s negotiating tactics, but like you, I don’t think Cronin intends to trade Grant unless someone gets desperate and is willing to overpay.

There is just no need for Grant on this team right now.

Don't necessarily disagree...
But there's also no need to 'dump' Grant either.
I don't think anyone is saying to just dump Jerami. I think that the working theory is that he has more value to a win now team than he does for us and therefore we would get solid value back if we trade him.

That being said if we don't trade Jerami and/or Ant I'll be pissed because they both ball hog and tend to ruin what we should be trying to do with our offense. They also both take shots away from the guys that I think are the future of our team. At the same time if we dumped either one of them for less than solid value I'd also be pissed.

You've already seemingly set yourself up for unreasonable expectations on deals, so might as well just get pissed off now and let it ride instead of waiting for February 8th.

Davion Mitchell sure has lost his value. I see that he is listed as either 3rd or 4th string PG with the Kings now.
Is their goal to have Keegan at SF and someone like Grant at PF? Right now they have Keegan and Barnes.
Is Grant that much of an upgrade for them to move the others?

lol at all the knicks fans saying no to this trade in the replies

I don't think there's anything I want from the Mavs besides Lively. Even their unprotected firsts are not expected to be very valuable.
They'd get valuable in a hurry if Doncic got injured. (Yes I know, Kyrie, but he's 100% going to get injured.)

Yeah, my first thought was, "Grant Williams and Josh Green are pretty good"...but we don't really need more 6'5"/6'6" dudes.
