FWIW, the messaging out of Portland media that is connected to the FO (Marang, Highkin, etc.) over the past month as been this:
- Blazers are not looking for draft picks.
Where did you hear this?
Picks can be awesome but for some reason OKC doesn’t want to use them to cash in. It’s like they have a huge stack of chips at the casino that they won’t bet or cash in. They’re just sitting there as chips.I've been thinking about this ... and, I mean, why would they be?
I think the ultimate flaw in the OKC model is you can trade for 32 million draft picks. But you only have, what is it now? Eighteen roster spots, including two-ways?
Eventually, the law of diminishing returns hits. You have a bunch of young players to evaluate and you're trying to give them time to percolate as you bring in an equal number of young guys you need to give time to percolate.
Now, of course, people are going to say, "well, that's when you start trading the picks to get another star." We'll see. Those opportunities are limited. Someone has to want just those picks. The star players have to want to come there and have to want to stay.
I don't know. I think it's going to be interesting seeing how that all works out. They're a good young team. Does anyone really see them beating the usual suspects in the playoffs this year? Next year? The year after? I don't, yet.
And then what? What happens when they get stuck in neutral? When they are 4-7 in the West every year and can't rise above that?
The Blazers what they think is a core of what they think are young studs. They're looking at adding two top-10 draftees next year that one would presume would be in the playing rotation, Rupert looks like he's rising in such a way that he'll be in that mix, as well, in the next 1-2 years and Murray that you probably can't really say has been given a real chance to show what he is until next year. You might also have two picks in the top 10 of the second round and, with the current composition of this team, you have a decent chance of getting at least one if not two more guys that have enough potential to push for a look.
I think the Blazers are looking for a good, young player who has shown flashes but maybe is blocked on his current team, high draft picks or picks down the road that still have the potential to be high draft picks, maybe some salary flexibility and the occasional reclamation project (which we've tried a lot during this rebuild and hasn't worked out for us).
I think they're more concerned with quality over quantity. After next draft, if they don't swing a deal, they'll have quantity covered.
Is this some kind of weird win now move? Or would HFB be rerouted?heard about this like five minutes ago but I dunno if it’s legit. Protected lotto 2026, Lyles and Barnes.

Also feels like the kind of rumor that gets leaked to try to up the value.I assume he’d be re-routed but I dunno how legit this is. A bit ago, Miami was supposedly going in on Grant.
another rumor has Orlando wanting Ant or Brogdan ...for Ant that would be playing for his hometown and put him on his favorite team growing up. Rumor said somebody named Black plus first round pick or picks for either guard.
Speaking of Jerami Grant being traded…..FAMS, the @MRSTHEHCP and I are heading to Hawaii in 8 days!heard about this like five minutes ago but I dunno if it’s legit. Protected lotto 2026, Lyles and Barnes.
Every single rumor has the Blazers bending over and grabbing their ankles.
Again, if I had a choice given what I've seen for going on 3 years...I'd trade Ant for a two way rotation player over 6'8 and draft capital..talented vets that want to be in Portland are like unicorns so I'm in no hurry to move Grant or Brogdan....Ant could use a change of scenery and he'll bring the most back in trade value anyway in my view.
I’d love to send Ant to Orlando and somehow bring back Franz Wagner in a deal.Again, if I had a choice given what I've seen for going on 3 years...I'd trade Ant for a two way rotation player over 6'8 and draft capital..talented vets that want to be in Portland are like unicorns so I'm in no hurry to move Grant or Brogdan....Ant could use a change of scenery and he'll bring the most back in trade value anyway in my view.
Seems like Barnes would be easy to move. Now or in the offseason. Getting a 1st for him is maybe unlikely. Although I dunno if I would have thought we'd be able to get a 1st for Hart last yearIs this some kind of weird win now move? Or would HFB be rerouted?
I don't know how much Ant likes playing in Portland these days. I know how much family he has in Florida and Tracy McGrady is his favorite player. Usually when you have a good citizen like Ant or CJ....you try to accommodate them and trading Ant to Florida would probably be just that. I don't know why speculation would strike you as dishonest but it's just a trade rumor.Ant is a talented vet who wants to play in Portland but fuck being honest, right?
LOLI’d love to send Ant to Orlando and somehow bring back Franz Wagner in a deal.

This is worse than toilet paper. Here is a article with that trade rumor, not sure how accurate this site is.

Detroit already has too many guards.Orlando ain't doing that. I'd probably settle for Ant for Ausar Thompson and change. I think that gets done.
I don't think we could make a trade work for Jerami to the Kings without involving a third team. I hope our front office has no interest in Barnes or Lyles they just aren't the age of player that we should be targeting. Sac does have their 2026, 2028 and 2030 picks available and I would think if they were only giving up Barnes and Lyles who would hopefully be rerouted to other teams that they would have to give up 2 of those three FRPs.
Thursday can't come soon enough because even if I have a meltdown at least I'll know what we're dealing with for the rest of the season and get a sense of what direction or lack there of our front office is headed towards.
Key line: "Will they make a move for the Portland Trail Blazers’ Jerami Grant?" Seems to be total speculation. Here is a article with that trade rumor, not sure how accurate this site is.

I understand there will be inevitable trickling over in some areas, but please keep it mostly confined to the meltdown thread! You may as well meltdown early. They ain't trading nobody lmfao.
