Ok...I have honestly been one of the most agressive Nenad haters on the board recently...I've question his playing time, I've questioned Lawrence Frank on his usage...

I was wrong.

Nenad pre-injury was on his way to becoming an all-star...he was putting up 16 and 7 and was just a monster offensively, especially considering he was the teams third option...now while he has been awful since coming back I have seen flashes from him, I'm not talking about his jumpshot as much as seeing him backing down players in the paint...yeah he still sucks defensively...but he always had, that's why Jason Collins was a starter...he won't be 100% this year, so it will be interesting to see if he accepts the Qualifying Offer from us, if he does than he may yet be dangerous for us.

While I'm a proponent of shopping Harris as his value is ridiculously high, I can understand if the Nets choose to keep him, he is an excellent defender, and is dangerous offensively, while he doesn't rack up assists I don't think he's a ballhog...he just needs coaching and time...he might not be a top 10 PG but he is definately a starter in this league.

That's the epitome of Diop's job, he's a sold defender, blocks shots and he hustles...which is a character trait that I admire...If we can resign him cheap then I'm all for it. I wouldn't want us to overpay for him, but if it's reasonable then we should make the attempt.

Marcus has tremondous upside...he just recently turned 22...he's a very good passer, solid shooter and is improving defensively...honestly I think he has the potential to be a top 5 PG, but it will depend on him mentally getting there, which is never a given.

Swat can go two ways...Kenyon Martin or Stromile Swift...what worries me is he constantly gets caught on pumpfakes and plays ole defense opting to look for a block rather than body a man up, offensively he reminds me alot of Kenyon...If I was a coach I'd have him breaking down highligts of K-mart to show him how to utilize his athelticism.

Boki isn't our future...however if he can be resigned at a reasonable price than he is a valuable player off the bench...he's a solid shooter, he's reasonably athletic and he's an underrated defender.

In today's NBA where athleticism is key and speed is important 29 is indeed old...he's undersized at 6'8 and while this hasn't been a problem yet, the physical wear and tear will hit him sooner rather than later. He's gonna want a longterm deal at a high price...very risky for a team that is far away from championship level basketball. Besides it wouldn't make sense anyway if you really believe that the majority of the core of this team sucks...which you seemingly do.

Simple, Josh boone is a solid player, but he is not a starter, no way, he blows layups and gets outhustled and outmuscled most of the times. he is a decent player who can come of the bench and provide good minutes.

I never praised marcus. I just said that there arent alot of players in this league that have that kind of vision on the court, Jkidd type of vision, and now hes starting to become a good shooter, and he is only 22 so he is someone that has 1000 times more value than boone.


Harris, maybe i was a bit too hard with him.. but the reality is he is not a true point guard, and even though he has made "some" great passes , you can just tell whenever he is the pg on the court, he has no fking clue whats going, there is no ball movement no nothing. He is a decent shooter, great defenser? ( i have not seen that yet since he has arrived, pau and parker shiited on him, literally) and can finish at the rim. And since his value is high maybe we should tr to move him... And even though you may think im crazy, i think that if marcus starts at te point, we are in better shape than if harris does.

And trust me, i know marcus is not there yet, it looks like he is half-assing most of the times, stupid turnovers... but imagine if he was the starting pg, not harris, if he had that confidence, it would be huge for a player like him. Do you remember what his numbers where when harris wasnt here, and jkidd was in dallas? They were not so bad, and the big thing was.... WE ACTUALLY WON GAMES!

You must remember, though...Marcus went up against the Pacers, Bulls, and Bucks; all at home. Devin, meanwhile, went up against the Spurs at home, and the Spurs again, the Hornets, the Mavs, and Memphis (eh); all on the road. Plus, he's still adjusting to mostly players he's never played with before. Gotta cut him at least a small amount of slack.

I will agree with you that his defense hasn't been all that impressive, statistically and in games. It's very disappointing, and hopefully he'll bounce back and start actually playing some real defense.

With Boone, however, I have to disagree. He's definitely a starter, and he's been improving in front of our eyes. There aren't too many bigs around who can rebound and defend like Boone, and he is most definitely a valued player.

Marcus, on the other hand, is an inconstistent backup point guard in my eyes. One night, he'll put up 25 points. Another, he'll put up 8 assists. The next, he'll get 3 points, 2 assists, 3 turnovers, and look lost.

Did you become a Nets fan a week ago? Clearly you haven't watched the team the entire season making a statement like that...Boone for the duration of the season has been the most consistent if not best frontcourt player on the team. A second year player averaging 9.8 pts and 8.3 rebounds as a starter through 39 games is not a player to be taken likely...I love how so many fans want to complain that he's not a future all star so he shouldn't be starting...he serves a role and he does it well. recognize.

You did praise Marcus...especially compared to your assessments of the rest of the supporting cast...I have nothing against praising him as I often do, but have some conviction.

Guess what...the ball movement has been shitty all year. Really considering he's been in uniform a little over a week I think it's a little to early to criticize him for the lack of ball movement.

Having talent doesn't necessarily lead to success...see Darius Miles, Eddie Griffin, Dajuan Wagner...a lot of times a player's mental toughness is as important a factor as talent...Marcus needs to show some.

if nets make the playoffs as an 8th seed and denver misses the playoffs even while 10-15 games over .500, denver gets a higher draft pick then us, correct? so in my mind, nets have everything to lose by making the playoffs although the 8th seed may be determined not by who wins more but by who loses less.

at this point, i want to see some progress with the young guys. RJ and Carter should not be playing 40 minutes a game. I want to see competitive games or at least see the young guys play with fire for 2 or 3 quarters and then lose at the end. i wouldn't even be upset to see RJ or Carter develop mysterious back spasms for a week or 2 and let them sit out some games.

Well if it counts for anything, ive been a nets fan since 99, and ive watched almost all the games since then. I probably miss 2 or 3 every season, now that thats out of the way. I did say that boone is a solid player and is doing his job, but he is not a starting pf in a championship caliber team. Fact.
And harris has no vision, little handling skills( see turnovers) and forces homerun passes, instead of the easy ones. Fact.
And williams will be a solid player and he is a true pg, and thats why i think he should start over harris for the pg spot, and maybe they can both start for alittle and then put carter in who knows.

Why does Boone have to be good enough to be a staring PF on a championship team? He's a role player, he plays his role well, what more do you want from a 23 year old? Are we a championship caliber team? Is there really someone who deserves to start over him right now, after his solid season? How do you think benching him right now would affect his confidence, after giving so much for the team this season on the floor? You know, not every successful NBA player is good enough to start on a championship team. Some guys help the team without averaging superstar numbers.

OH MY GOD! i have been saying that he has done a solid job, but he is not a staring pf on a championship caliber team right? And i know we are not a championship caliber team.. but shoudnt we be aiming at being one? i said that if we ant to be succesful we need a better pf, not boone, he could be solid off the bench but that is it.

Hey, nobody in this thread ever said that Boone should be our franchise big man. Obviously, if we want to be a championship caliber team we'll need a much better big man than the ones we have right now. Too bad they don't grow on trees, right? I'm glad we agree that Boone is a good role player.

It takes time to build a champion (or luck/stupidity of other GMs, like Boston and the Lakers have proved). Who said Boone will even still be on the team next time we compete for the Eastern Conference (could be next season, could be in 10 years)? Right now, he's doing a good job as our starter, and there's no reason to take him out of the lineup or trade him because "he's not a starting PF on a championship caliber team", since as I've said, right now we aren't a championship caliber team. Plain and simple. If and when we will be a championship caliber team, I don't think Josh Boone would be our starting PF.

I want the nets just to get a solid low post threat... thats all... and we need a new coach... before we do anything in the offseason ... first thing on the list is a new coach... im sorry... we can get all the allstars and superstars on the nets and we would still lose cuz of frank... he would probably bench a young stud cuz of player on the team longer than the young stud...
