Tomorrow night! Fams!NJ needs to start losing!
If the Nets lose tonight in LA and against us tomorrow night and things work out, this pick could slide down to #4 again!!!!!!!!!!
What I'm really hoping for: With our own pick, we get luck and move into the lottery - - but we lose and get the 3rd selection in the draft (BEAL). I don't even want the number 1 pick, because we'll just continue with our bad luck, pick Davis, and he'll go down with knee problems or never pan out.
Then, we trade NJ's pick (probably coming in at 6 or 7 if we get bumped into the lottery) to Boston for Rondo and our own 2013 number 1 pick (lottery protected).
With Rondo, we now don't have to worry about the wet dream of DWill signing with us. Just not going to happen. As much as I am a huge Nash fan - let's face it, he's too old.
Once we nab Beal and trade for Rondo, we focus in on signing Hickson, bringing over Freeland and signing Flynn as a back-up PG. Flynn won't hurt us when he comes in off the bench. Quite the opposite - he'll run the offense, bring speed into the second unit, and won't turn the ball over. Pefect back-up PG behind Rondo. And if we can't trade Batum for a better SF, then we sign him.
Leaves us with a problem at Center. But there are not many teams with great centers anyway. Let Hickson start at Center and keep LA at the PF. Batum at SF and Wallace/Beal at the 2 with Rondo/Flynn at the point. If Crawford opts-in, then he is intergrated as a "Vinne Johnson" off the bench and nothing more. If he's hot, he plays. When he cools off, he's on the bench. Finally, we probably look at keeping Pryz for some stability at back-up Center and overall toughness and locker room leadership.

^Damn you and your stats! I am so confused!
we are currently 11th which has 1.2% chance of winning 3rd, if rondo were available there would be a bidding war and he would go for WAY more than the 7th pick + 1 future non-lottery pick, and we wouldn't own our 2013 first rounder (would make the playoffs) and can't trade our 2014 anyway.
how is signing Dwill a wet dream compared to that lol?
Lakers' rim seems soft.
Pau was picking off (err... holding) 3 guys.
All I'm saying is that DWill won't sign to play in Portland. Had Greg Oden come out the other day in full uniform, and exclaimed "April fools!" maybe - but our core is not enticing enough to play in small-market P-town. Our only hope is to trade for Rondo, Nash, Parker or Paul. Paul will probably look to stay in LA (one team or the other) and Nash is a bit old and Parker would prefer NYC over P-town. Rondo might find Portland a nice place to call home.
If we had to trade both of our number picks (2012) for Rondo I'd do it. I might even trade Batum and our own pick, providing we get NJ's pick at the 4th or 5th pick to obtain Rondo. I believe that there is a greater chance for us somehow winning this year's lottery (number one pick) than there is of DWill signing in Portland. Just my opinion.

Any package for Rondo would HAVE to include Batum. He's the only young player on there team who they can build around as the big 3 ages. They're going to have to get great return to ship him out.

So who does the tank brigade root for tonight, then, Blazers or Nyets? I'm nervous about them finishing 4th, I just don't feel good with a Sterntistic of 30% that they end up top 3. I'm rooting for 5th, I guess?NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :MARIS61:
that's false. unfortunately as previously noted 4th worst only has a 10% chance at the 4th pick. 4th is THE most likely spot to get bumped back, and it comes at a 13% greater chance at losing the pick (NJ winning the lottery) than 5th.
root for 5th worst (74% chance at 5-7), or even 7th worst would be fine (84% chance at 7-8).
It's statistically better if the Nets beat the Blazers
