Agreed, Lafreniere has proven he can get it done, look at last season. Trading him away at low value is not smart. Also, Kakko has never shown anything like what Lafreniere did, so I think these are two very different situations.

The Isles traded Dobson for the 16th and 17th picks, that is a solid move for them, I think. Will be interesting to see what Drury does with Miller.

I absolutely think we could get the #4 straight up from Utah if they wanted for Laf. He's still got 4y of team control and should put up 25-35g every year. That to me is worth that high a draft pick on it's own. I'm not advocating it either way but wouldn't hate it either. At worst maybe they'd have to throw in a mid rounder with him

I didn't forget Laf's 28 goals Chuck but that was 2 years ago when he had a contract coming ,if scoring only 17 in the first year of that contract doesn't concern you that's your opinion, Dump's opinion on players is based purely on how hot they are which is impossible to argue against. Laf 45 points this year, Kakko 44 in 3 less games but you're right there's no comparison. Restating your opinion repeatedly and padding it with verbosity still makes it your opinion. Last year I was surprised to find myself with the minority opinion on Rempe being NHL ready, seemed like a no brainer - young guy with ridiculous size and physicality with a great work ethic and will to learn, the contrarian arguments were silly but everybody's entitled to an opinion.

Zonnon would be a guy I would like the Rangers to trade back into the first round for late if they could. Scouting report is he’s locked to be at least a third line player.

This is the worst NHL draft format ever. This virtual crap sucks. It was so much better when they used to sit at tables and GM’s would get up and come over to other tables and try to work out trades.

Here's my opinion, I don't like selling low on players, especially young players who just last season scored 28 goals and was maybe our best player in the playoffs, and that's what you are essentially advocating for Panzer. I also am not going to punt on 23-year-old Lafreniere for pennies on the dollar because he only scored 17 goals this past season, with virtually zero PP time. That's my opinion.

And Kakko's best season isn't even as good as the season you are looking to trade Lafreniere off of at reduced value.

Bennett re-signed with the Panthers, 8 years $8M AAV. Good deal for Florida.

The Isles have a competent GM now, not a 90-year-old has been. The Isles will get better quickly, I think.

I cannot wait to see what Drury does, my expectations are very low, but I am going to be watching and hoping.

Wow, this format is beyond retarded. The drafted players standing in front of the big screen with the team on a Zoom link. Holy shit that was embarrassing for the NHL.

Yep. Worst draft ever. Dumbass Emily and some other woman. Bring back the real NHL analyst for the draft.

The blonde sitting next to Weeks is a hottie.

Does Emily have dirt on ESPN executives? Trying to think how someone so bland can keep getting more and more exposure.

Is that lady interviewing the Preds draftee from The Witches?

Technical difficulties lol

what a disaster for the NHL.

I found it amusing that almost nobody congratulated Florida. One, because they act like scumbags with no class after they win. Two, they were scumbags using the LTR which they will no longer be able to do. Of course the dumb bitch ESPN hired said it was jealousy. No. You never saw that when Tampa was winning cups. It also seems that there is little to no market for K. Shithead. Thus, he probably won't get an offer sheet and the Rangers can low ball him.

Laf scored 17 goals last year Chuck, 28 goals was 2 year ago when he was in his contract year. Alexi also had 63 less SOG this year, he will never play to the level of the best #1 overalls in hockey so he will never accrue that value. Alexi was so lazy this past year he couldn't even lift his helmet off his head during the anthem, Drury can't trade this hump and his $7.45 fast enough for me, can't rebuild on a soft foundation.

The debate is not whether or not Lafreniere took a step back this past season scoring only 17 goals down from 28 goals the prior season, CLEARLY, he did. The debate as I see it is do you sell low on him for pennies on the dollar, that is where I say no. It makes no sense to me dealing Lafreniere at a decreased value, I much rather hold and hope/expect him to rededicate himself and for Sullivan to get the best out of him. We can agree to disagree on that.

We agree Lafreniere was not nearly as good this past season as he was the prior season, I am hopeful he'll be closer to the 2023-2024 version moving forward. I will add though, essentially every single player on the team took a step back this past season, so maybe there was a larger issue not specific to only Lafreniere, we'll see.

BTW, if Drury traded Lafreniere for good value in a good trade for the Rangers, I'd be perfectly okay with that. My only "issue" would be trading him at a reduced value/return, that I wouldn't be a fan of.

If you hold onto Lafreniere and he goes on and have another poor season his value is only going to drop further.

You can sell other GMs the idea this was just a poor season and that he will rebound based on what he showed the season prior, but if he has another poor season you can no longer sell that because now there’s a trend.

I don’t think he’ll have a bad year under Sullivan. K shithead on the other hand is just dumb.
