I think that's a very good return on the surface for Miller, who probably will improve some there but wasn't working here anymore. That is alot they extended him for too. Morrow is a former top 40 pick who is still young.

Miller was NEVER going to be a real top 4 defender for us. Way too many brain farts. To get a first rounder for him, with how AWFUL defensively he looked is a good return, regardless of where that pick is. Also, gives us two first round picks in a deep draft next year and we can use them both to maybe even move up. I hate Drury almost as much as Chuck, but that’s a good return for a player that has worn out his welcome here. And the INSANE contract Carolina gave him makes the trade even better. Handcuffed them financially with a mediocre defender for the next 8 years.
I did not know Carolina would give him this ridiculous contract. I guess with the salary cap going up they think it’s reasonable for him. Lol

Even a guy who has been tough on Drury like I have been has to say he had a good day, and it's good for all Rangers fans he did. Even with a NMC for the first five-years (a MNTC for the final two-years), signing Gavrikov for only $7M per is a great move. Finally, a legit partner for Fox, which I thought was top priority this summer.

Then trading Miller for a 1st, a 2nd, and a solid D prospect is a HR. When you factor in Miller got an 8-year $7.5M per contract, the trade gets even better.

I love what Drury has done today, kudos to him. The one real need I still see is a 3rd line upgrade. Maybe he could make up for a bad trade from last season and move Soucy to improve the 3rd line. Not only is Soucy a whatever player, he's also clearly overpaid for a 3rd pair/depth dman. Get one more solid move done Drury.

Miller is only 25, he makes one mistake Fox routinely makes dozens of times and it's amplified, he's much better than most on the board perceive him to be thus the contract from Carolina, He definitely needed a change and the Rangers signing Gavrikov made K'Andre expendable. Hope Robertson gets a shot this year. The Ranger need more size and physicality.

Miller fucking blows. Rangers land is rejoicing. Starting to think you smoke a lot of dope Porter.

Miller has size that Fox doesn’t and refuses to use it. And several people, myself included, have said trading Fox is something this team should have done. Miller had size, literally ZERO physicality which is why he needed to be moved. Majority of us fans got tired of his poke check olè style of defense. And his board play SUCKS for a guy his size. He was a buffoon with the puck in the defensive zone, turning it over just as often as Fox, if not more.
Just looked it up. Fox- 76 giveaways/37 defensive zone giveaways. Miller- 97 giveaways/70 defensive zone giveaways.
Conclusion: Miller fucking sucks!!

I love the signing and the trade, the defensive unit definitely got bigger and better which I've advocated for decades, just pointing out that there's no need for incredulity at the contract Carolina gave K'Andre, he's much better than many of the busts you've championed. Were you braying that Rempe wasn't NHL material last year? We shall see how K'Andre does next year. I've been one of the few on this board who thinks Drury has done a decent job since day one when I correctly predicted the Rangers were playoff bound. Now that his back is against the wall he's returning to what worked.

Tru that 94. Plus Fox is an elite PP QB. Provided the rest of the dipshits actually show up this year. Fox has been struggling since that injury he had. I think the message was sent to him to get in the weight room and it started with Brian Boyle ripping him.

If you want to see a ridiculous disparity between Fox and Miller look up hits 94.
Miller is a BIG defenseman, so he SHOULD have more hits. That’s like saying Vick had more rushing yards than Brady. What a dumbass comparison.

Again. Millers hits are not hits. They are rub outs. Cuylle hits. Schneider hits and needs to to more of it. J.T. Miller hits. Rempe hits when Bettman isn’t harassing him. Othmann will hit. Miller is soft. You seem to be the only one denying that.

How about this stat…on ice goal differential and on ice expected goal differential.
Miller: -11/-7.1
Fox: 14/19.2
So, Fox was a MUCH better defenseman despite being less physical.

Fox needs to shoot more on the PP. Opposing teams don’t even take away his shooting lane because he refuses to shoot so often. They play him to make the pass. He needs to get out of that mindset.

Miller is a disciple of Tom Poti. He’s young but we just can’t have defensemen that are soft playing big minutes. Maybe he gets better in Carolina with a different system

Also Morrow could be a future PP QB. So in 3 years when Fox moves to a limited NTC. They might move him and have his replacement on the power-play. Look for Drury to move Soucy now for a pick. Maybe a 4th rounder in 2026. I had him as a depth guy this year but now with this trade, he’ll be moved if possible.

28th in the NHL on the PP last year and Fox is an elite QB? Every other team in the NHL uses quick, crisp puck movement to create open shots but Adam Fox prefers to stop the puck and slowly dangle creating nothing 1 G/17 A/25 SOG with 215 minutes of PP ice time this year. When he got hurt there was no production drop off on the PP, he should be throwing every open opportunity at the net but he doesn't. I've wanted Adam traded since they lost to Tampa so I'm admittedly biased but he's locked in now, Drury did the right thing by getting him a physical partner. Only Barry Bonds old trainer could provide the regimen that would make Adam physically formidable.

Reading others opinions is always interesting but I watched Miller long enough to know that he fucking sucks. He’s 25 and he’s making more mistakes now than he made two years ago. His salary is absurd. If you get paid a lot of money, you need to be consistent. Playoff performance is another thing but you have to be consistent in a regular season if you get paid over $6 million unless you’re a playoff stud. So Lafreniere better get it together soon.

This does not need to be Fox vs. Miller debate. Completely different players.

Miller is physically gifted but 1. lacks necessary instincts and IQ at a position that requires quick reads and instincts and 2. lacks that aggressive bite and assertiveness that could take his play to another level. He just seems to play "tight". He started playing D late in life (relatively speaking), and it shows. After watching him for years I think his ceiling will always be a bit lower than his tools will suggest. He was a good Ranger and I wish him well. But I'm glad we didn't give him that contract.

Fox is a stud. No he is not a fast skater, he is not big, he does not have a big shot. But he puts up points and teams simply don't score much when he is on the ice. He is the best offensive defenseman we have had in years. I think he is going to thrive next to a horse like Gavrikov, who knows what to do with the puck and will not end up face first in the glass every 5 seconds.

With two first rounders we are also protected in case Sullivan can’t unscrew the team as first year.

Who is this 5'8 guy from the KHL we're supposedly interested in?

They signed Taylor Raddysh for the 4th line. 2y, $3 Mil. Eh, kind of expensive for a 4th liner: Did Score 20g a few years ago.

Looks like they need a 3rd line center. I liked Parsinnen’s hustle and grit last year. But idk if he has the faceoff ability or scoring to anchor the 3rd line. Most likely they’ll bump Carrick up and down which isn’t a good thing. and for the love of of stop playing Brodzinski. Again, good hustle, plays his role, but just stop

Raddysh makes no sense. Our 4th line was set with Rempe-Carrick-Edstrom. Unless they feel Rempe at some point we’re getting a lengthy suspension and they need an extra piece around.

Not my favorite player but a vet right shot bottom 6 winger with very good skating is OK for a 1.5 hit. If Mika is a wing, and everyone seems to be saying that’s where he will start, hard for them to trust Berard-Parss-Othmann as the third line with nothing else. Maybe that’s where it ends up but need some depth there. Raddysh will at least give them a vet presence with speed to fit Sully’s forecheck system.

Yeah, Raddysh is actually a decent signing for a year or two. Parssinen and Brodz can go. I still think they need a 3C upgrade. Isn't Johansen looking to return?

The 3rd line is the absolute weakness, and quite frankly isn't good enough. The move to make is get rid of Soucy's ridiculous $3.25M for a 3rd pair/depth dman, and get a solid 3rd liner in here. We don't need Soucy, and adding a solid 3rd liner would lower the potential reliance on Othmann/Perreault.

The Rangers basically have 5 or 6 4th liners, all of whom would be out of place trying to be 3rd liners. Hopefully Drury can get a much needed one more move done.

No issue sending out Soucy for the right upgrade but let’s not lose sight of why he is here. Right now Schneider (on his off side) and Borgen are the second pair, according to Larry and several others. Schneider never played the left side until last year for about 5 games. If that goes badly there is nobody on the roster besides Soucy with top 4 experience.

If the Schneider/Borgen pairing holds, your third line would be a combination of Vaak-Robertson-Morrow. Nobody in the front office or coaching staff is going to be comfortable with that. That’s one top 4 injury away from disaster.

Like him or hate him Soucy is not a bad player. I would not judge him on a small sample size on a shit team in a shit system. He was pretty good for Seattle. Let’s get some stability here and he could end up being a decent guy to have around for the 1 year remaining on his deal, if that’s what happens.

Really like what I’ve been reading about Morrow and how he profiles. Good size and can move which matches what Drury has been looking for. Depending how he performs in camp he could lock down 3RD and see some PP2 time.

If it’s not him on the second unit not sure who it would be…

Raddysh was a moronic signing. This move is a perfect example of why the Rangers might be the worst team in hockey at developing forwards. There is having competition and then there is creating an environment where young players don't believe they are given a chance to win a job. This move was unnecessary. You have Roobroeck a 6'7 forward who really is a natural center and who had 20 goals as an AHL rookie last year on a crap team. You have Berard. You have Othmann. Perreault needs AHL time IMO. You have Kaliyev. You have Parssinen. This is what the dumbass Rangers always do. Bring in a j0urneyman. Drury was having a good day until that stupid move.

Weekes tweeted yesterday we are one of the 4 finalists for Shabanov, the young Russian winger who had a Panarin-like rise in the K. Hadn’t heard of him but real good numbers.

Just looked him up…5’8, 157 lbs. I thought it was a typo. It’s not.

Keeping Z at C and Trocheck pushed to 3C may not be the best move for them individually, but would certainly lengthen the lineup solidify the 3rd line and ensure there is room on the wings for kids. Not sure why everyone has been so quick to lock in Mika as a wing. Lots to shake out here still.
