Yandle was fourth highest in points in the playoffs and lead all defensemen on this team.

Brooks said it best about St. Louis this morning.

Marty St. Louis, who will turn 40 next month, appeared to age 10 years over the tournament’s six-plus weeks, and essentially was useless over the last two rounds, his future in New York surely past.

Feel bad, but true. The interesting situation will be if he wants to play, and play only for us, would he take like 1-2 mill only? To me if you got him back around 1.7 mill let's say, you could do a lot worse than him. Hags at 3 or MSL at 1.7...I would take MSL.

Don't see it because pride will make him want more than 1.5-2 mill, but it would be interesting if he said I would play for less than 2 mill.

Richards went to Chicago for $2 million so I guess we shall see. Hagelin I feel they have to move on from especially when you have Zucc here.

Richards also had a huge check coming from us this season, so that makes it different. But it is possible. All I am saying is I want MSL gone, but truth be told if he wanted to play here for less than 2 mill it isn't crazy to bring him back. He was a leader and did score 20 this season. As a 3rd line guy at 2 or under you could do a lot worse. But I also agree it is Hags OR MSL...don't want both back. If Hags wants 3 mill or more maybe MSL is the fallback at 1.7 or 2. I think one should be back for the 3rd line.

I readily admit I have little to no idea about free agents available this summer. I'd have to see that before making those determinations. I really would like to see a forward with some size over MSL or Hags.

I tend to agree, I just have a feeling that if MSL says I want to keep playing and only want to be here, something could get worked out for 2 mill or under...who knows though.

If I were betting I think 1 of those 2 will be back, but you never know. I do think a top 9 righty is a must though. I also think Talbot gets dealt for sure unless there is simply no market.

Talbot is getting moved for sure. It's not even a matter of if because #1 you have to sell high and #2 if you don't he will get signed as a free agent after next year so you lose him for nothing.

We are on the same page there Mess. He is gone next summer anyway, and we rather pay Hank's backup under 1 mill, not 1.45 mill. I don't see anyway Talbot is a Ranger next season. Question is moved at the draft for a pick or can we get a player for him.

Yeah you have to figure some team would sign Talbot as a free agent for $3-$4 million next summer so you have to do something to mitigate that. Talbot did great for them with Hank out but since you don't expect another injury you can find a twenty game backup elsewhere even if it's a veteran.

Just stop with McIlrath dump. If he's so great, he'd been called up or be in high demand for a trade. You never really here him mentioned for other teams interested, and he's not up here. McIlrath isn't making it to this team unless he is better offensively and a better skater. As is right now, he's a lumbering big man, equal to glass, but is a dman and you can't have a dman that can't skate in your six.

I'd rather get a player for him. We're in a win now mode. Gotta get a piece to win now.

Glencross is the guy out of that list i'd go after. As for Talbot i just don't see a team giving up much for one year of him, so he's worth more to us here as insurance. Maybe you'd get a 2nd or B-prospect.

Glencross was a zero on the Caps. Played on the 4th line and was scratched a few times as well. Really see no need to add him, not sure what he does for us.

Talbot is gone next summer...period. His cap hit is 1.45, and you'd like to pay less for a backup. So I think you need to move him unless his value is like nothing at all.

I don't think you get a solid player for him, UFA to be goalies without playoff results/experience don't return a ton. But I do think you could get a decent pick/prospect for him, and to me it makes sense given he walks for nothing next season, and maybe we can save some money on the cap.

What's funny about the McIlrath talk is it's the same type of nonsense that was written about Kreider and Miller. They're not ready, not NHL material, and other utter foolishness but when they were finally given a chance they showed that they were clearly NHL material. I wouldn't expect McIlrath to outskate the 190 pound fast skating dmen that AV loves but I guarantee he can clear the crease better than any two of them. I like AV but I'm beginning to see why he can't get it done in the postseason, he's very stubborn with keeping a game plan regardless of its ineffectiveness and blind to the fact that there is a physical aspect to the game.

You think Glass is better than Lindberg because he didn't get called up? You think Hunwick or Boyle would have been better off for this team in the playoffs than McIlrath? You're on crack. You pretty much know nothing about hockey. I'd argue with your stupid ass but it's just better to put you on ignore.

Exactly Panzer. It's the same, moron fans in our fan base who think coaches never make mistakes. AV made a mistake all f'n year by playing Glass. Many coaches get attached to unproductive idiot players because they are nice guys. Those coaches don't win titles.

Torts was not a nice guy and he played some idiot players too. In AV eyes, he thinks Glass brings something to the table. Thats why he played him, not because he is a nice guy. Having Glass in the lineup yesterday did not make any sense. Why not have Sheppard in the lineup instead? At least he can take faceoffs and has some offensive ability to score. Anyway, this was not the main reason they lost last night. Top players sucked ass again and got embarrassed by tampa top players at the garden.

Dump you honestly would've put developmental prospect Mcilrath in over Dan Boyle?

I blame AV for this loss and AV only. Yes, MSL on PP is what hurt them starting with 5:3. Had AV realized that MSL killing this team, he would have take MLS off powerplay. There was a good chance to score on that 5:3 go up 2 games to none in the series and crush Tampa. Second Glass, nothing needs to be said there. Third, yes Sheppard is not great but how do you not put a guy who had a game winning goal in game six back into the line up. It is beyond me. Next, I think the fact that AV is okay with a soft team and thinks you can win in the playoffs like that tells me that he will never win here. He should bet let go ASAP. Today! He is going to waste Lundqvist years with this nonsense. Please fire him now.

As far as, free agents. Yes, I think I would rather have McIlrath over Dan Boyle. Not because I think Boyle is worse, but because Boyle cost 4.5M per year. We could have used that 4.5 on a forward. There is no need to pay 26M for defense. That is way too much. Take a chance on 2 young guys at 1M per as 6th and 7th D. I think Hunwick would do. You have 4 good Ds and Yandle. That is enough. Boyle is excess luxury that you can live without.

As much as I like Hags, I do think he should be traded for a big guy who would bring Physicality. Also, no MLS not even free. We don't need him anymore. AV is going to keep playing him and result will be the same. It is like Art Howe in baseball. If he has him, he will play him. No thinking outside of the box.

I also think we should trade Stepan for a better center. I don't know who is available, but I think we should part with him now. This team needs to get tougher. That is the key. Enough with the little guys. Zuc is enough.

How about trading AV for Bylsma. I would go for that. AV will NOT win here. He needs to go. I hope idiot Sather realizes that.

I would look at Justin Williams depending on price he isn't a big reg season point producer in regular season but he is the anti-Nash in that he scores huge goals in post season and that is what this team needs. We thought MLS was that guy (he used to be).

Actually, I think both should go: Sather and AV. Now! This season. Bring coach who won a cup before. Yes, even Torts probably has more chances to win than AV. Torts' stupidity has a chance of paying off in the end as he tries 500 different combinations, but AVs stubbornness and loyalty to players has no chance of winning the cup. Fire AV NOW. Great man, sweet guy, good person, yes. but not winning coach.

Wow on AV. He wasn't perfect. He plays Glass too much he played MLS too much on PP but come on when you get nothing from MLS next to nothing from Nash Hags and Hayes for long stretches you are not winning a cup.

AV is not the issue

Dis, yes I agree. But MLS is what killed this team. Class act. amazing guy and I hate saying this about him but he lost every single board battle in the playoffs. Killed PP momentum every time and energy of the team. Had AV was a bit more aggressive, and MLS was not on 5:3 and not on other key PP, we would have beaten Tampa and win SC. He is the issue. I blame him. Like I said, my uncle who lives in Vancouver told me that 2 years ago. They were frustrated with great Vancouver team for years. Same thing. Identical results. AV is the problem.

Williams seems like a guy they will sign to play big in the playoffs and he will disappoint. He won 3 cups though... A 17-20 goal , 40 point regular season guy.. MSL has been having much better regular seasons than him

AV stayed w MLS too long on PP but it's not his fault that MLS went from 39 to 50 overnight. The reality is this team needed MLS to be a top 6 winger like he's always been. That's not in AV
