Nash is a winger. You need legit wingers for stammer. Unless they can get stepan to move to a wing, that would be ideal.

You certainly could move Step to wing. And at 7.8 mill Nash is one of the worst cap hits in the league I think. A player with that big of a cap hit needs to be a stud, Nash is not a stud. Hard to have Nash and Stamkos here when Hank is at 8.5 already.

Move Step to wing if need be.

If Eric wants to go back to Carolina maybe you could package Marc and Hayes together. The Rangers may be willing to eat some salary. The Canes have plenty of cap room i believe.

I still seriously doubt the Rangers eat dead salary for 3 or 4 years. Seems very unlikely unless they have no other choice, and have something big lined up in combo like Stamkos.

If the Staal's were a Canes package, doubt they need to eat salary.

Point is if Eric wants to go back, and Jordan is there, and Marc agrees to waive his NTC and go there as well, I doubt we have to eat salary to do it.

Stamkos is exactly the kind of high end player in his prime that this team has lacked for 20 years. I'd love to see it happen but they would have to trade Nash which is do able with only 2 years left on his deal

But again...I'll be a broken record...I think it all has to start with moving Staal or G (both is dreamland...). That should be the first order of business IMO. Then look at Nash and Stamkos and others.

Nash I believe they can trade for a return similar to what E. Staal got from us in a moronic deal. Maybe a late first. Girardi is a candidate for a buyout to help sign Yandle if they wish. I would not. Not with Skjei here. Staal and McDonagh. Graves a year a way. No thanks. If they can dump Nash for picks and prospects they can free up about 26 million. That's assuming they dump Glass which I believe they will be able to. Dallas still wants him and it's the last year of his contract. There are potentially some big free agents this year. Hayes I'm absolutely dealing. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. His return should be good. Miller gets a 1 million dollar raise. McIlrath 500,000 raise. Kreider 1 million raise and that is it. He's lucky to get that. So you basically have about 24.5 million free. On Nash trade list are Rangers, Flyers, Sharks, Detroit and Penguins. Maybe the Hurricanes. Of that list I only see Detroit has having the cap room if Datsyuk retires which I think he will. Detroit is not going to be attractive to free agents in their current state. I could see a deal there.

I don't see any moves until they either fire AV or decide to bring him back(I hope not). If they bring him back they would not sign Yandle (for what reason he doesn't use him), they would trade Big Mac (when you play Boyle and girardi all season over him and someone like fucking diaz who sucks who didn't play in the nhl all year in game 5 of the playoffs over him to use on the pp point when dylan never got that opportunity and has a better shot imo and girardi and staal would still be playing 25 minutes a game and glass would still be playing every game rendering the 4th line useless. For these reasons alone they need to fire AV. Not to mention the exit interview where Hank will surely bury the shit out of him and maybe even demand a trade if AV is still gonna be here as he will not be able to survive 40 shots a night every game most coming from point blank range because AV doesn't give a flying shit about defense. I hope he's gone and they go back to Mess and give him the job this time. But until AV's fate is decided one way or the other no moves can be contemplated.

1. Hard to fire AV after one early exit. I can go either way on him, and I can see him getting fired, but I will say he stays unless the players bury him in their exit interviews. If he goes I wouldn't be upset, but I just don't see it happening.

2. AGAIN...unless Staal is moved I don't see how you bring Yandle back. You need cap balance, and you cannot be paying your 3rd pair LD 5.7 mill per or more. And that would also mean McD or Skjei has to play RD permanently. That is not about AV, that is about cap balance and team makeup. Staal or Yandle...cannot be both IMO.

3. I think McIlrath is back and gets a regular spot on D next season. Looking forward to seeing how he plays.

A buyout of Girardi's contract would have the following cap hits (Cap Friendly):

• 16-17: $1.75 million
• 17-18: $2.75 million
• 18-19: $3.75 million
• 19-20: $3.75 million
• 20-21: $1.25 million
• 21-22: $1.25 million
• 22-23: $1.25 million
• 23-24: $1.25 million

That's pretty much the only option, since his contract is virtually untradeable unless you threw in a top prospect or ate 44% of his salary. Those cap hits aren't all that bad, especially the first 2y when you're still dealing Nash on the books most likely.

Its amazing how far both Staal and Girardi have fallen roughly 15 and 26 months after signing 6year extensions.

I think they will trade Staal at the draft, buy out Girardi and re-sign Yandle before July 1

I sure hope they can bring Yandle back too, he's an integral piece to any roster and something they don't have in McD or even Skjei who should be a good puck mover.

Yandle was an integral piece of a lot of the goals the Rangers gave up. The guy is absolutely brutal in his own end.

This is a gross exaggeration in my opinion. I'm not saying he's great, no doubt he's had some bad blunders. But more often than not, he is serviceable. His gaffes are more noticeable than others because he holds the puck longer trying to make plays. He is not usually out of position or beaten man-to-man; his shortcomings come from trying to generate offense. And we havent had offensive talent like his on the back end since pre-05 lockout.

Show me an offensive defenseman putting up 47 points who doesnt look like a fool sometimes in his own end, and I'll show you a unanimous Norris winner. In my opinion the good far outweighs the bad with Yandle. High risk/high reward player who brings something this team has lacked for over a decade. Find a way to keep him.

Obviously one game does not make/break a player, but good examples of him very much holding his own defensively:
