I don't know if anyone caught Olshey saying the Blazers are preparing something special for Matthews, Batum, Aldridge and Lopez. I'm curious to what he means by this? Some kind of special appreciation? What do you guys think?

I don't know, seems like that would be a silly geasture.

hopefully not. let it goo....

Maybe he's going to mail them the big posters of themselves that are on the side of the Rose Garden? Or maybe they have boxes of left over coasters and bobble head dolls?

If half the stuff in Quick's article is true then LA doesn't deserve anything.

I know this is a hard thing for you to grasp because you love hate, the devil and getting even; but some kind of public appreciation would be the "honest sign" that our franchise let it go and is happy for those players.

There is a big part of me that is absolutely pissed at Aldridge and his decision. Another part of me is really pissed Lopez left without a thank you. But how stupid would these guys look when they come to Portland and the franchise they tried to smeer gave them recognition for all their contributions to the team? That would be pretty stand up if you ask me

P.S. Especially if we are playoff bound

I would throw Nic in there too, and maybe Blake too.
Everyone but LMA was either traded or not offered. I get that it is part of the business, but nothing wrong with showing a little appreciation/class for the years that they spent here. From a Marketing/PR standpoint it can't hurt our reputation with other players. No reason to be cold and cut ties so harshly.

I understand that some may not think LA deserves any love since he "rejected" us, but from a business standpoint I would take the emotion out of it, and bite the bullet. Show class to everyone, even if they don't deserve it.

Yes, I do love Satan and defiling holy relics, but I liked Lopez and Matthews. I just think it would be stupid to have an appreciation ceremony or whatever for someone that left via free agency. Maybe publish a letter or something...whatever.

It'll give us something to distract us from the losses pilling up mid season.

Perhaps a lovely assorted fruit basket and a commemorative paperweight with the Blazers logo?

I have no problem with Wes and Nic - but where LaMarsha is concerned, I am with Sinobas.

Olshey also mentioned the old PDX carpet in his press conference. Maybe he's going to send a roll to each player.

Did you listen to Neil's press conference? He pretty much confirmed it, with as much candor as you could expect from a GM.
He really did. It was strange how almost every rumor was immediately confirmed in 3 minutes
