Olsheys MASTER Plan

This could still be a bad off season, just don't think this is the worst move that could be made. Elite defender that was breaking out in the playoffs? Yea, I'll take it. Not to mention we REALLY needed a SF and Demarre Caroll is older..about the same on defense..better offensively but Demarre wasn't always a shooter, either.

Also, we still haven't seen Demarre's contract yet.
True. Maybe they think they can help him become a shooter. If he did he'd easily be better than DeMarre. We just need a ballhandler / shooter. Maybe we could get Monroe then use the cap space exception on Gerald Green?

I predict this thread will go 57 pages and I'll only post once...for me, that's a record

I like the upgrade in athleticism with Henderson and Aminu, especially on defense.

But can we trust Stotts to get the most out of these guys?

He might not be the right guy for these kind of players. He's always strikes me as the coach that needs a certain kind of player for his system instead of running a system that feeds off the strength of his players.
that's true. We're getting a bunch of slashing defensive guys for an offensive coach that needs 3pt shooters. But maybe since he'll help Hendo and Aminu improve their outside shots and turn them into studs??

I think the plan was to not wait on LA and get younger more athletic better defensively and more depth. This is Oshleys plan knowing LA is as good as gone. How do you turn down an extra year/27million? He's done a great job he got us LA's replacement Noah Vonleh he's the future the guy's freaking 19! Plumlee and Leonard are Rolo's replacement. Now I say overpay for Dame's double double guy Love,Monroe,Milsap to ensure us back to the playoffs. Sign Dame to the max ASAP! Trade Kaman shooters are in high demand. He'll only stunt the development of our young bigs.

I know I'm in the minority, but I've always liked Kevin Love and it would be nice to root for a homegrown kid (Portland at least has a small claim on him). That would shore up our PF slot and brings a proven scorer into the rotation. At least you know you're not overpaying him verses another team.

I think he'll be worth every penny. He'll be back to his TWolve production 23/12 but on a Portland playoff team

I have a feeling PDX is Love's 3rd choice. Cleveland can't pay him anymore (if I understand that right), LAL might get Aldridge, so he may fall to us.

That's what I'm thinking too. He can't help but notice the "love" is going to LMA and not him... It was a foregone conclusion 5 days ago that Love would be going to LA based on his college playing days. I'd be thrilled if he "fell" to us.

Hes 3years younger than LA. Before he joined the cavs he considered the best PF in the game. The worst thing that could happen is LA signs with the Spurs then the Lakers get Love

A few days ago I was on the f%$# Neil Olshey Bandwagon, mainly because I was in the anger stage of grief, but know that I have reached acceptance that Aldridge may be gone, that Batum is, and that our roster will not resemble last years for the most part. I however believe that Olshey is one hell of a GM, and that he does indeed have a master plan. He can get players for nothing, trade crap players for talented ones. He is putting together the best team he can under the circumstances, one that will make the playoffs sans Aldridge's decision to stay or go. I've been through years of crappy Blazer seasons and woe...from the 99 collapse in the western finals to the Lakers, to the jail blazers, to Roy's Knees, to Picking Oden over Durant and so forth. I have witnessed era after era and GM after GM, but Olshey is by far the best...but don't take my word for it, just watch, when the dust clears, the NBA is gonna shit itself. And Olshey may be taking a beating right now, and you can call him names, and his personal moves shit, but he doesn't give a damn, and I suspect that if you were the GM you couldn't do anywhere close to as good as him.

I hope he doesn't let you down...

But make note of this. This is his third year and he is starting a rebuild process. Most GM's in their third to fourth are in the being evaluated process mainly because most of them have a five year plan. Granted, he did things a little bit different by taking what was already here and building around it. But in the end he absolutely failed. Had he made different decisions last year with the money. We may not be talking about a loss of LA, Wes, Rolo etc.

I don't believe he knows what he is doing. This to me is him throwing something up and hoping it sticks. It's a desperation move and one that I think he hopes saves him face.

If LMA lands elsewhere, it will mean he was willing to leave a large chunk of change on the table just to put Portland in his rearview mirror. Olshey has to take some of the heat for that.

So, you think Pat Riley should be fired?

Let's wait till October before we have a fit... at least wait more than 4 hours in to the summer.

Great paragraph of utter horse shit. If you would care to back your premise up with a few facts based on inside knowledge, or even clairvoyance if you must, it could be worth consideration. As it stands, your vitriol infused tantrum is nothing but conjecture and has no merit whatsoever.

Pat Riley should have bowed out long ago the old prick

Oh of course not. The fact remains is he still has yet to prove anything and I don't believe he has a plan.

Oh and if he does, I very little faith it will come to frution just due to the failure of Plan A.

I think the man has very little respect and belief in this market. Which highlights his small time thinking in players.

You use big words but don't even make a counter argument. That's what has no merit

Just think, if we don't make any other major free agent signings, then we can always overlook the general malaise by discussing overhopped NW microbrews or the general plot concerns in True Detectives? You know, like caddy Portlanders do!

Good grief... and what "big words" would those be? I usually enjoy reading what you have to say even if my take on the subject is different, but calling me out for not countering a statement that has given nothing but conjecture without substance makes me wonder what your cognitive agenda might be. I come to this forum for news, insight and entertainment in the order listed. What I have read in the last few days makes me scratch my head in amazement as it seem many former quality contributors have contracted a devastating cerebral virus.
