I think it was 2 missed Layups actually, but who is counting. Dame has taken 13 shots, no one else has taken more then 4.

Not sure if everyone knows, but if you go to nbcolympics.com you can watch the live stream of the game for free.

If Team USA is going to give this kind of effort for the rest of their stay in Japan, these other teams are all in big big trouble.

During that stint that Dame was in, they were playing awful close to him and keeping the ball out of his hands. They play him that close, others are getting open shots.

Do not overestimate this game vs. Iran here (that is not an indicator). As seen against France there are several other teams which are able to fight back and give team USA a hard team - if they are able to perform against one of the better opponents in a similar way I agree with you.

Yeah but France is by far the best roster outside of Team USA and we should have won that game.

Joe is a free agent this year isn't he. Seriously he kills the Blazers. Tough gritty player.
He's one of MY idols. Even when he was starring for Australia I never thought he'd made a dent in the US, but he somehow manages to be a solid defender despite being slow as molasses. I'd LOVE him on the Blazers - he's a complete all-rounder. He'd be the best backup PG we've had in a decade.

Got to watch the game live on Peacock. Now that's what i'm talking about. No freakin' 4 corners basketball. They were aggressive. decisive, and had fun. No over passing. Just go and gun. I don't care if it was Iran, this is the way they need to play. Other than those 2 layup bricks, Dame was smoooooth. Actually a couple other 3's were in the hopper and out. This was no more B.S. Dame. Bodes well.

I liked the look of having Holiday handle the point and Dame playing off the ball. Taking notes, Chauncey & Neil?

...Billups briefly mentioned this in his presser already! Heck, even casual fans noticed the need for this.

Yep some argue that Simmons in Portland would be a bad fit because Dame isn't good off the ball... :dunno:

That's not quite accurate. Dame hasn't shown himself to be comfortable playing off the ball, but he's certainly good at it ... and extremely well suited to it. Whether he would accept the same role on his team as he might on the Olympic team is the major question.

Also, I have serious doubts about Simmons being the right guy, because of his complete lack of shooting ability and what does for floor spacing off the ball. Jrue in that role, his consistency isn't inspiring, but he's a willing gunner and enough of a threat that he has to be guarded.

When has Dame played with someone who has the requisite skill set to allow him to play off the ball for longer periods?
Last player that even came close to having that skillset was Batum.

Chicken and the egg...

I do believe Dame has a say in Olshey shying away from true backup PG's.

CJ has shown himself equally capable of running the offense when Dame is out, so there's no reason why he couldn't fill more of that role when they're both in the lineup.

I doubt that was a request of Dame's. It's more likely that Olshey is trying balance the allocation of resources. He just doesn't see backup PG as important.

And CJ's ability to run the offense is.....underwhelming.

Eric Maynor. It's a damn joke.

I really think Rubio or someone like that for 24 mpg would do Dame wonders. He could rest more, play 12 mpg just looking to score, and focus on D a little bit. It would also help our role players tremendously (open looks, fast break buckets).
