One thing about bayless...hes a badass

I know we haven't seen it very often this season, but Bayless is actually a much better shooter than we have seen from the perimiter. I know he can knock down those shots. I think right now, he is just hurrying it a little bit, because a lot of rookies have to make the adjustment to speed up their release in the NBA, and that can throw you off for a bit. In case you haven't looked at his college stats, here they are:

http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/player/arizona/jerryd-bayless

You will note, he shot 40% from the 3 point line. That is really one of the only holes offensivly in his game.

I agree. I have watched almost all his college games and Bayless is a great outside shooter. I think he must be rushing his shot now. I know it is hard to believe from watching him shoot now but I do think he will eventually be one of our best outside shooters.

i want the PG who is going to guide a championship team to be able to knock down the jumper consistently. bayless needs a lot of work.

I see a lot of people on this board who are just going by what they have seen in his short career, and not his resume. Go look at his stats at Arizona from the 3 point line, and then tell me you don't think he will come around. So many folks don't realize the difference in level of play and speed rookies have to adjust to. Most rookies their first year have to change their release their first year so they can get their 3 point shot off, and that throws them off a bit for a while.

I think people that don't think Bayless can be a PG need to watch the game again. Specifically watch his decisions on penetration and watch his quick ball movement when at the top of the key. I loved it toward the end when he was passing back and forth between Rudy on one side and Brandon on the other. Back and forth very fast (not looking for his own shot) and ending up with a wide open three. He did drive the ball a lot, but almost every time it was exactly the right decision for a PG.

Given the guy is 20 and has only played meaningful minutes in a handfull of games, I think his improvement has been very rapid. It was only a month or so ago when he had tunnel vision and looked only to score. Now he is showing much more balance.

And his shot it not a concern. It's not that bad now (especially mid-range) and he will dial in the rest soon.

With his passion for the game and winning, and his 4.0 grades he is an ideal player for leading a team. His athleticism is so good that he can become a Tony Parker type of player.

First off, Bayless is a badass. He's tough as nails. He's still a rookie, which means he's going to be inconsistent this year and next. I just hope that these same people that are drooling over Jerryd now, aren't going to dog him when he has his struggles over the next couple of seasons.

Portland's ready to make noise in the Playoffs this year. Jerryd can be relied on in spurts or given certain match ups, but I'm still of the opinion that Blake and Sergio (or any upgrade we trade for) will carry this team. Experience is so important at this juncture of the season.

When Bayless scores or does something good on the floor he always smirks at the crowd. I love it. It's like "ha, fuck you"

Does anybody else think "Vinnie Johnson" when they see Jerryd on the court? That game five winning shot in the 1990 finals still haunts my dreams.

They flashed a stat on the screen of the game last night, pointing out that since Blake went out and Bayless was thus guaranteed minutes every night his shooting percentage is 46% from the floor. Not sure what the breakdown between jumpers and layups is, but at least his percentage is moving up with increased minutes.

He's so badass, I just saw him knock an old lady down in the lobby! Gangsta' style!...................Bitch was in his way!

At the Hive recap:

Travis Outlaw got have shot blindfolded tonight and still finished with his 16 points. We were spared his wrath in the first half when he picked up 3 fouls, but he came out guns a blazin' in the second half and just torched us.
Despite a strong game, Jerryd Bayless got annoyingly cocky tonight. When Paul was in, he spent his time flying through the lane attempting to draw blocking fouls, though he usually ended up with a charge since he wasn't even looking to shoot on half of his drives. He eventually finished with 19 points, but as he was taunting the Hornets, I just kept thinking, how can a guy like Bayless get so cocky for outrunning Antonio Daniels down the court? How impressed can you be with yourself when you are out-performing a guy 13 years your elder who's dog-tired from playing way more minutes than usual? Bayless' final point total on the hapless Daniels? 13. Way to go kid, you're a star.

see what im talking about...this was written this morning after my post

I guess I don't see what you're talking about. I'd expect most NO fans to have the red ass after seeing their team blow a really big lead and having a brash fired up rookie do it to your team has got to sting a little.

what im talking about.....

is like i said...bayless gets under the other teams skin which is exactly what we need. its hard to hate roy cause hes so calm and cool when he scores a basket. doesnt really show much emotion. bayless on the other hand...lets the other team know about it

At the Hive recap:

Fuck the Hive. Maybe a better question is how a 13-year veteran could allow a rookie to dominate a quarter the way Daniels did? Why don't they spend more time acknowledging that Bayless's speed was a primary reason why they lost that game instead of complaining about how cocky and annoying our rookie was.

Jerryd had every reason to get excited. He was playing at a different speed than everyone else on that court. In fact, his excitement pumped this team up.

It's laughable that the writer knew whether Bayless was looking for his shot or not. That's just stupid.

Personally, I see Robert Pack, which wouldn't be half-bad.

Bayless is so baddass ... he has five proctologists!

Top 10 reasons Bayless is such a badass

He can kill two stones with one bird.

He can eat just one Lay's potato chip.

He can sneeze with his eyes open.

He is the reason why Waldo is hiding.

He counted to infinity - twice.

He can lead a horse to water AND make it drink.

He can slam a revolving door.

He doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

He CAN believe it's not butter.

He did in fact, build Rome in a day.

He had a contest with Chuck Norris, for who had more balls, and he won. by 4.

:lol::lol::lol:
On that note, He his our future and will never be traded.

WOW I'm glad we don't have russel westbrook right about now

After last nights game, the kid is averaging about 11, 3 and 2 in 22mpg since Blake has been out. THat is incredibly impressive for a rookie who JUST STARTED getting his first meaningful minutes in his NBA career.

And that article from the HIVE was.... AWESOME! I like Bayless even more! He may move into my tier 1 favorite current Blazers!

Bayless is nothing like Steve Francis. It doesn't seem to matter what Bayless does or how much improvement he makes with the little PT he has gotten some people will never be happy. Bayless is going to be a star PG in this league on the Blazers or another team if we make the mistake and trade him.

Repped Tort. I agree 100%.

Bayless is so badass Apple pays him 99 cents every time HE listens to a song!!!!

That motherfucker is so gangster................ he can sneeze with his eyes open!

Bayless is so badass, that HCP is so afraid of him, that Jerryd pees in HCPs pants whenever he sees him.

Implausible. What would be the profitability to Apple in that financial model?

Because they are afraid Bayless will level his gaze at them and turn them to ash ... better to take a 99 cent loss than be turned to ash.

I don't even know what the hell you are talking about.

I could have sworn Steve Francis was an exciting, high flying star in the league. A 3-time All-Star. I guess that's small time in your book and Bayless will be what ? A 5 or 10-time All-Star?

The way Bayless reminds me of Francis is that they are the same size and high flying dunkers. And they are more of a scoring guard that a point guard. But according to you, they are nothing alike? Time will tell.
