I sure as hell don't want the PA system to be playing "I Love L.A.!" when LaMarcus scores.

MIXED MESSAGES SUCK!

I've had a real problem with this since it was introduced last season. It's gotten worse, too. Now they display the words "I Love LA" on the display that rings the Rose Garden. I complained about it last year, right here on the forum, yet most people don't care. I don't get it. In any case, it should not be played tonight, under any circumstances. If it is, the the fools that run the Garden are oblivious.

It is dumb but they are doing it intentionally to play at our hatred for the Lakers and L.A., it is really dumb though...

Yeah our game ops crew sucks ass.

I could also stand not hearing the theme from "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" every single time Travis Outlaw does ANYTHING.

Yeah - we get it. Outlaw. Like from the Old West. Hardy Har Har.

Also I think the George Forman "Let's Gr ... Let's Gr ... Let's Grill 'Em!" video clip is circa 1998.

One things for certain... jack ass season ticket holders will sell their tix to hated Laker fans for a small profit tonight. It always pisses me off how many Laker fans are at the RG when the Lakers are in town. And 90% of them are arrogant assholes.

but outlaw embodies that sound clip, he's either good, bad or ugly. i agree they don't have to play it EVERY time. as for the LA thing, i totally agree it shouldn't be played ever and especially when we are playing the lakers. i brought up how much i hated to some friends last year and they just shrugged like it was nothing. i said "that is the lakers song," it should NEVER be played in our arena.

I agree. I said so last year as well. Do not play that damn song in the Rose Garden - EVER. Not for any reason. How on earth could the folks running things be so unfathomably clueless about this?

Listen up Blazers:

Stop playing that godforsaken anthem of the the LAKERS.And, even if it weren't a Lakers anthem, it is still a stupid song, with stupid lyrics, with (an intentionally) comically cheery pop sound and bizzare emotion to the song that is not true to the feeling that the Blazers want to get across. Randy Newman sings "I love LA", but he DOESN'T LOVE Los Angeles. HE HATES Los Angeles. That is what the song is about. So the Blazers are saying what exactly?

My favorite part of going to the rose garden is seeing godzilla do step step clap on the big screen. It's funny and necessary.

Hahaha... yeah, I've had those exact same thoughts. Wth is our game ops crew thinking when they put up the "I Love LA" thing on the display ringer. And I have a hard time believing they won't play the I love LA soundbite every time LaMarcus scores...

Someone needs to tell Todd the game ops director to stop doing it.
Email him: toddtime@blazers.com

That they wish they were like the Lakers? :dunno:

I think Laker fans would rather be blazers fans...

Agreed. Every time they play that, the opposing team's players always looks up at the screen with a "wth is that?" look.. it's pretty terrible. Bill Schonley's "it's rip, rip, rip city time" is cool with me though.

AND LMA...he hates LA. can't someone say something to someone about that crap?

No he doesn't. Granted, he was choosing from two, but he said he would prefer LA, when he coudl have easily said I don't like either.

Q: Which Blazer has the best nickname? And are there any good nicknames among the players that we fans should know about? Do you prefer L.A. or L.M.A.?

A: Unfortunately, nobody’s nickname on our team is that great. Out of those two I’d prefer to be called L.A.

not the nickname...the Lakers franchise. some quote last summer.

I do enjoy the vids where they superimpose Blaze in a famous movie scene, like Hoosiers or Rudy.

And while we're on the subject, anyone else think it's about time they replaced Mark Mason? He brings all the energy and enthusiasm of a grandma knitting a sweater.

I couldn't even stand the nickname at first! But after no viable easy alternatives it grew on me. The I love LA song is just crossing the line, it has got to go, such a disgrace.

When they first hired him years back, I thought he was a bore. He's grown on me though. He's a pro, has a good voice. When I hear other PA guys from other arenas through the TV, some of them are really, really annoying. It's a line you can cross toward borderline cheesey if you hire a guy with tons of emotion.

It's amazing that so few people understand what Randy Newman is singing about. It's ripping LA, not praising it.
