Mr. Harper, is Brand really the only price for the #2 pick? For instance, would Andre Miller (last guaranteed year) and Joel Przybilla's insurance-laden Expiring Contract + #22 really get Brand and the #2 for Portland?

Zach Harper (Hardwood Paroxysm/TrueHoop Network): The Sixers want out of that contract so badly and Turner doesn't fit all that great with what they have. I think it's a legit asking price.
If we did that, I wouldn't even mind re-signing Blakey.

I still can't see Philly going for that. Would be extremely tough to sell to fans.

Hello NOLA.. would you like Turner and stuff for CP3? lol I know it wouldnt work.

If the rest of our team is Roy, Turner, Batum, Aldridge, Oden with Camby, Brand, Bayless and Webster coming off the bench? They could sign HCP as a backup PG and I wouldn't mind.

Fine. Have a Roy/Batum backcourt. Doesn't bother me. If you can trade scraps for the #2 pick and a beefy PF (who's expensive as hell, but it's not my billions I'm spending to "win now"), then it's a complete fail not to.

How about we then trade the #2 and Rudy to the Spurs for T.Parker and #20?

Like Roy/Batum is any better?

Get a real PG in there.

That just won't happen, though. I'm not saying it shouldn't happen, but I cannot see an NBA franchise going that outside the box to put a player who seems like a prototypical small forward at point guard. Even proven great small forwards who could have pulled it off (like Scottie Pippen or Grant Hill) were never really experimented with that way except for brief periods.

I think if Portland could do this deal and wanted to take advantage of it, the most likely thing they'd do is gamble on Cousins/Favours. Or, perhaps, trade the #2 away for something else.

I'd be quite interested in a Batum/Turner/Roy perimeter, with defensive assignments being a night-by-night match-up issue, but I just don't think it would ever happen.

Brand would be a nice trading chip in a couple years too!

Sometimes I wonder whether KP's future in Portland is dependent upon him being able to pull off another draft day bonanza for the Blazers. I read things like this and think that there's no way that the Blazers could make such a significant move in this year's draft, and then I remember the 6 trade whirlwind KP and pulled in 2006. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm going to be paying really close attention on draft day.

Get a real PG in there.

Excepting Paul, Williams, Rondo, Rose, Curry, and Wall (all of whom I see as completely unavailable)--which NBA PG do you see as the best possible backcourt-mate for Roy?

If this happens I want credit.......

Like I mentioned in another thread, think about who really wants Evan Turner.....

That would, by all indications be MIN...

If you could pry Love or Jefferson away from them for flipping #2 to #4, as several sites have suggested is a possibility, you could then take a guy like Wesley Johnson, Aminu might be another option or Greg Monroe....and yes, maybe even Demarcus Cousins....

Although I am more inclined to think that if POR could get that #2 pick then they should either take Favors or Turner......

Who cares about position? If you could put out a lineup of Roy\Turner\Batum\Aldridge\Oden...let other teams try and stop that......

I'm not the biggest Turner fan in the history of the world, but... c'mon. Andre Miller for the #2 pick? Do it.

That Brand might actually have some basketball left in him would just be a bonus.

What would we do without Miller? I dunno. Signing Blake wouldn't be the worst idea in the history of the world.

Getting another young potential star to add to our team at the expense of a veteran PG and an expiring third-string injured center seems like a slam dunk to me.

I agree, I think Parker would be great next to Roy...and if the team is successful, I don't see any reason why he wouldn't resign here......

Cetainly not.

In the realm of basketball descisions the Portland Trailblazers could potentially make I would say it is one of the worst ideas they could have.

We know what Blake brings to the table.
We know it's undercooked, smells bad and makes you feel slightly sick.

I don't know about that. Portland won 54 games with Blake and he shot very well in the playoffs with a shoulder that needed surgery after the series.

If this is all it takes to get #2, get it and package it with parts (Bayless?) to SA (who seem to be after Favors) for Parker.

Parker
Roy
Batum
Aldridge
Oden

I was never a HUGE Blake fan, but... yes. He is not a difference-maker, but he's a slightly sub-average starting PG. He's adequate until we get something better.

Stepping down from Miller to Blake would be worth it if we can acquire a prospect like Turner.

I wouldn't trade the #2 pick for Parker who could very well bolt after this season.

Also, I'd probably have a tough time choosing between Turner and Favors.

Favors measured nearly identical to Dwight Howard at the same age; He's four years younger than Turner; He's big enough to play Center full time. Etc.

I wouldn't take either. I'd try to grab an asset, possibly from NJ, trading from 2-3, maybe the 27th. Maybe some package for Harris? I dunno. Then, find the highest bidder for Favors/Cousins, and move #3. Would NJ prefer Turner to Favors? Bayless, Webster, Rudy and #2 for Harris and #3. Or 2 for 4 and Love, then 4 for Parker. I don't think we have the salary to actually make that work out. I'd start playing teams off of eachother, though, to find the highest bidder for 2, 3, or 4 for sure.

It's obviously a no brainer if PA is willing to pay the dollars, but I find it highly doubtful that Philly would ever consider this.

The winnah

Two solid ball-handlers with playmaking skills in Turner and Roy and Batum even able to fit the bill somewhat, seems like a pretty intriguing backcourt. Certainly not traditional, and with some question marks (mostly because Turner isn't exactly a great outside shooter) but it seems like something that could be workable.

If it doesn't work, then you probably still have options down the line if you need to trade for a more traditional point guard (say use Batum and Bayless along with somebody else to go out and pursue a really, really good veteran point).

It's always great to see everyone throw around all their brilliant trade scenarios and genius ideas. That way when none of these things happen again, everyone will once again have gotten such overblown expectations as to what is actually possible, that they can once again fault KP for not magically fulfilling any of their fantasies.
