Oregon Ducks 2024!

I get it. Yes, whoever wins the title will have to win.

I believe the #1 seed should get the more favorable draw. It appears some other folks don't think the seeds should matter and it should be more of a random draw. Difference of opinions.

I am very surprised people are even pushing back at the idea the bracket is so unbalanced and out of wack. Anyone acting like any championship team has to go through all the best teams has omitted years of results in the brain. NCAA basketball doesn't do this. No major pro league does this. And for good reason.

I do like all the coach speak in your post though!
I don't think it's pushing back. I think it is simply understanding that this is the first year of this format and it will likely take time to get it dialed in.

I'd rather have what we have than to have let it wait another decade with the talking heads arguing over the details.

Sure, it could be better. I'm simply not worried about it. If the Ducks can get it done we get to watch a lot of really good football.

Yes, that is ridiculous that #3 Texas path to the the semi-final is by beating #16 Clemson (at home) and #12 Arizona State.

#4 Penn State's path is beating 10th ranked SMU at home, then #9 Boise State.

How is it that is it guaranteed that Oregon will have to beat a higher-ranked opponent (#6 or #7!) in the quarter-final than #3 Texas or #4 Penn State?

Only #2 Georgia could face a higher-ranked opponent than Oregon in the semi-final (#5 Notre Dame), which, of course, is screwed up right there.

#1 Oregon and #2 Georgia by design facing higher-ranked opponents in the semi-final than #3 Texas and #4 Penn State.

Semi-final matchups if higher-ranked teams win first round

#1 Oregon vs #6 Ohio State
#2 Georgia vs #5 Notre Dame

#3 Texas vs #12 Arizona State (is this real??)
#4 Penn State vs #9 Boise State (wtf?)

Who are the idiots that did this?

They got the #1 seed. Period.

Win.

#1 seed doesn't mean you get an easy draw. It's dependent year to year.

Just win. There's no other discussion to be had.

Imagine getting the #1 seed and STILL complaining instead of trusting that your team can win.

I mean, yikes. Don't be scared.

You know that BiG 10 Championship game wasn't neutral either. That place was almost a white out. I think the only real green area was where the band was and the section next to it where maybe half was students. The rest was very sparse.

Considering they’ve beat 3 out of the 12 teams that are in the playoffs, I don’t think anybody doesn’t think they can win.

The issue is with how screwy the seeding is. It will be fixed. Oregon will win the 1st ever 12 man playoff in their first ever year in the Big 10.

Exciting times to be a Duck fan! Woot woot!

Imagine being so out of touch you are actually defending the bracket and telling those who are asking for a fair deal, being the number one seed, to just win and don't be scared.
Imagine being that guy….

Da fuck is wrong with some people….

Imagine telling the #1 seed in the nfl that they have to play the two seed in the first round and to don't be scared….

First off they don’t even play the first round and Georgia is the #2 seed and they will not play Georgia in the second round either.

A week after UT and tOSU clash, they get to face a rested Oregon squad at the Rose Bowl. Not only is Pasadena far closer for UO fans to attend, but they're buying tickets to that game today... are UT or tOSU fans? The Rose Bowl is pretty much going to be a home game for the Ducks

STOMP
It will be better than Indy thats for sure. We basically played a team on the home turf. Both Texas & OS travel well however. And of course there will USC fans there rooting against quack!

Boise State is going to be a tough out. I think they'll beat Penn State and they'll likely have a crowd advantage in Phoenix.

what should happen, and it probably will after next season, is that the committee re-seeds after the 1st round. 1st seed gets the lowest remaining seed; 2nd seed gets the 2nd lowest remaining; etc.

I don’t feel like Ohio St is some vaunted team that others do.

They got beat by a Michigan team that we trounced in their house. Nearly lost to Nebraska a week before.

I’m not feeling like they’re any better than Penn St right now. Especially after the injuries to their offensive line. They’ve been a completely different team.

Sure they whooped up Indiana. But who didn’t see that coming? Indiana reminds me of Chip Kelly’s teams at Oregon. If you want to get in a race they can win. But if the game is a grinder in the trenches and you make them play you’re style of football, they’ll lose.

I will say, if the Ducks run defense plays like they did against Penn St any team in this playoff can beat them. Skattebo would have a field day.

Alabama AD after getting snubbed for the CFP:

We need to schedule more cupcakes in non coference.

Is that how you felt when the Blazers earned the #1 seed in the past and played the #8 seed? Or did you think #1 should play #2 right away?
Was it a new playoff format which was a drastic improvement over the prior postseason format? I just think these are different situations. Yes, there are things they can do to improve this playoff format.

I get that it's not ideal. Great, we've acknowledged that. But making a bunch of excuses before we even play the games seems a bit premature.

I love Dan Lanning's approach to it.

We will see if it's an improvement. I think expanding the field is good but the auto bids is stupid.

Yeah, I think the auto bids were okay when you had four really good conferences.

I think that realignment has really hurt that cause. Auto bids probably need to go away. And I'm thinking they probably will within a year or two.

I'm fully aware of their seed, I've never said the otherwise.

I'm fully aware whoever is crowned has to win all their games, I've never said otherwise.

There is more to the discussion, but if it's over your head, bow out... Or speak on the topic.

Yeah but they still have elite WRs and DL.....and it won't be 30 degrees like it was in their rivalry game. Plus you have the revenge factor.
Having said that Tennesseee has a better QB....so they worry me as well. I just don't think they can beat OSU in Columbus....in mid December.

100% agree with you. The committee got the rankings right (for the most part), but the format is incredibly flawed.
