You not a college sports fan homie?

I'm a Blazers fan and I don't care about that draft in the slightest. I'm a HUGE mariners fan and I don't care about the MLB draft in the slightest. To me it's a waste of time to talk about drafts. Now talking about it once they hit the floor/field and actually show you what they can do? Now I understand.

But that's because you're not very smart. It's okay though, we love you anyway!

Weird, I feel smart for knowing that this stuff means nothing and that it doesn't matter until they actually prove it on the field.

Someone did the math and even if we grab three more guys, it doesn't look like we get to #1.

With Haastrup + Madsen +Olesh: 306.54
Current #1 is Texas with 306.67 on 247

national signing day is always entertaining. At the same time though, expectations need to be tempered, especially in the age of NIL and the transfer portal

example:
2 years ago the Ducks signed 5-star WR Jurion Dickey. He was the #18 recruit (composite) in the country; a physical WR whose HUDL films made him look awesome. No way he wouldn't be a star

around the same time, in the transfer portal, the Ducks signed a little known undersized WR from an FCS school and more than anything else the signing looked like a favor to Bo Nix and a lever to get him to return for a final season

two years later that 5-star WR has caught one pass for 7 yards. meanwhile, that 160 pound WR, as a Duck, caught 153 passes for 1867 yards and 19 TD's

the transfer portal is a game changer. This season, on Oregon's undefeated #1 team, 13-14 starters are transfers. That's not to say that high school recruiting isn't important. But the transfer portal may end up having a bigger season-to-season impact

Dickey is still just a freshman though. Playing with a loaded receiving core.

redshirt freshman. Now, he was injured last year so that set him back. He still has a shot at becoming a solid WR. Doubt he elevates anywhere close to elite like Tez is

Hard to say. When Tez was a freshman I’m sure no one thought he’d be one of the premiere receivers in college football.

…and was out all last year with a knee injury, which can happen to anyone. Is Dickey even the same level athlete now? Wiz is just being a contrarian while we party

Cumulative recruiting rankings are continually the best predictor team of performance. Obviously the players still have to perform, but better recruiting makes better performance much more likely. You can repeatedly assert it means nothing, but you're just wrong.

the reason I mentioned this: I've been told that this season, in practices, Dickey had lots of trouble gaining any separation from 2nd and 3rd unit DB's. He didn't have much burst or effective change of direction. Now, most of that could have been because he was coming back from injury(s). But he has a long way to go to just get into the rotation at WR. He has physical tools, but he needs to learn how to use them...while managing to stay healthy

Yeah they have the least amount of commits though. Once those 3 stars start coming in it will bring them down.
The way rivals tally’s a class is to rate the 20 highest rated kids. Since they are currently at 20, they can only add to their total. Though it’s unlikely other schools could pass the Ducks class ranking by adding high ranking kids who let them get lower ranked prospects out of their top 20 who factor in.

Since the variables are far too strong to just assume, I'll let the year play out. Seems fair.

The year always plays out, and recruiting always has a massive impact on how it plays out. Just like coaching, scheduling, travel, etc..

Btw, the whole class rating thing at rivals at least. Georgia would pass Oregon if they sign the remaining 5* DT as could tOSU if they flip the 5* OT they’re working on but UO passes them both again if they reel in the TE Olesh. Regardless recruiting rankings are just opinions and I’m pretty jacked about the class wherever things end up

As long as we're top 5, I'm good with it.

Nothing matters until they get on the field. The rest is a waste of time.
