he will do so. He's been buried on the depth chart and wants to preserve his senior season of eligibility for a transfer. There is still an outside chance the NCAA will finally approve that 5th year of eligibility for all NCAA athletes. So, he might have 2 years left to collect NIL. Unlikely good enough to go to NFL; maybe CFL
He was on track to be an NFL corner before his injury. As usual, I think you are out of your depth talking about the Ducks. That post where you make a big deal about red zone conversion to disparage a team that is 6th nationally in opponent PPG takes the cake..

he's played in 3 of 7 games, barely. Whether or not he was an NFL prospect before his injury is irrelevant. He's certainly not headed to the NFL next season

as for the red zone conversion rate for the Ducks, the reason the red zone is a thing is because it matters, a lot. And it has been a weakness on the Duck team

and by the way, gfys....I've been talking about the Ducks since I went to the UofO in 1969

He started at CB as a true sophomore on a team that went 12-2. Fuck off yourself. As well, he likely has two years left regardless of what the NCAA decides about giving a 5th year. He likely qualifies for a medical redshirt which would restore a season of eligibility and this season he can still use a traditional redshirt.

I thought better of the 'fuck off', removed it, but can bring it back if you want

I know he started several games in 2023. That's not a good indicator of NFL talent. I don't believe he was headed toward being drafted. But he was only a sophomore so who knows.

Regardless of that, whether it was the injury or he just got passed by more talented DB's or a combo of both those reasons, he wasn't getting much playing time this season. Of the non-seniors, Brandon Finney, Aaron Flowers, Ify Obidegwu, Sione Laulea, and Na'eem Offord are all ahead of him in the secondary, and Peyton Woodyard, Daylen Austen, and Kingston Lopa are at least even. Additionally, Trey McNutt & Dorian Brew are injured true freshman, but have gotten a lot of buzz. Ducks also have 5-star Jett Washington at safety in the recruiting class (ranked 18th in the nation of all recruits) and 4-star corner Davon Benjamin (51st overall).

so then, it's a crowded room and a room getting more talented. He will have at least one year of eligibilty left and probably 2 years, as you point out. He would be, at best, 2nd unit at Oregon next season, quite possibly 3rd unit at CB. And that's assuming the Duck don't at a DB or 2 in the portal, which they have done every season under Lanning. So he'll be looking for a destination where he'd have a good chance to start and showcase his ability. That's the reality of NIL and the transfer portal

those are all obvious conclusions. Not sure why you got so offended by them

by the way, if I'm "out of my depth" talking about the Duck D's red zone conversion rate, I'm wading in the same depth that Lanning is because he's talking about it too:

I wasn't "disparaging" the defense; I was pointing at the one big flaw.

Look at Indiana. They reached the red zone 4 times and scored 24 points. The Duck D gave up a 75% TD rate, which is actually slightly better than their average. As the article mentioned, Oregon's TD rate is 76.92%. That ranks 133rd out of 136 teams. Speaking of Indiana, they have a great defense too. Oregon actually ranks 4th in total defense; Indiana ranks 7th. But what is Indiana's red zone TD rate? Well, it's 15.38%, which is best in FBS. Both Oregon and Indiana have defended 13 red zone penetrations by the opponents. Oregon opponents have scored all 13 times while scoring 10 TD's. Indiana opponents have scored on 10 of 13 times, with only 2 TD's

if Oregon had the 4th best red zone defense matching their total defense, their opponent scoring rate would be 64.7% and the TD rate would be 37.5%. Adjust the 4 Indiana red zone penetrations to those rate and instead of scoring 24 points, the Hoosiers would have scored 13....Ducks win 20-19! (and yeah, Oregon is 6th in scoring defense while Indiana is 3rd)

obviously, game realities rarely exactly track trends this closely, but it does demonstrate that Oregon does have red zone issues
