OT Oregon Ducks 2025 (7 Viewers)

They’re doing all kind of gymnastics to try and say that Iowa didn’t lose this fumble
& yet again now with the clear out of bounds on the 2 point conversion. Iowa homers on the national call but still a great game.

Just under 2 min for the Ducks to line up a FG

I get it that Moore was highly recruited and a top prospect but I just don’t think he has the toughness to run the ball and will a win at times.

it was only his 14th game as a starter, and only his 9th game starting in the Oregon system. He's not Mariotta as a runner or passer, but he's pretty good. And in this game, he was missing his 3 best receivers. Coming into the game he had completed 145 passes. And 29 of Oregon's 158 completions were to RB's. D. Moore+Sadiq+ Bryant had 74 of Oregon's 141 completions to WR's or TE's.

Moore didn't have weapons in the passing game. But he sure did make the plays on the game winning drive. That counts for a lot

by the way, there's a lot of buzz that Dante will return next season. I'm a little skeptical he does if he's looking at being picked in the top-10, but maybe. And the Ducks are set up for a tile run next year if Moore comes back

I think they are always set up for a title run, in my opinion.

Moore needs to move out of the pocket more so his receivers can shake open. Thats how Iowa almost won the game, their qb on 3rd down moved around a-lot and his guys got open with big plays. Nix and Gabriel had mastered it.

penalties were brutal. Oregon only had 5 but 57 yards while Iowa had 1 for 1 yard. Seemed like ever time Iowa scored they had one or two big penalties that helped them along the way.

I may be wrong but I'm thinking Iowa had 0 penalties. That one was the illegal batting at their 1 yard line. But If Oregon had accepted the penalty Iowa could then have re-played 4th down and punted from the 1/2 yard line

I mean he’s probably making enough in NIL to make him content.

The game was closer than it needed to be. A couple bogus penalties called on the Ducks and a dropped ball.

That right there tells you all you need to know. How do you get out of a 60 minute football game without a penalty.

To be fair, it wasnt just the Duck game where the Hawkeyes weren’t penalized, they average the fewest penalties per game in D1 football.

That's a good point but it's been said that there isn't a play in the game you can't call a foul on. Something doesn't seem right when I'm watching multiple plays that the defender has the receiver wrapped up and no flag is thrown and the offensive line is tackling the DE and again no flag. However, the Ducks have not one but three drives killed by penalties in their stadium.

Bottom line I'm glad they got out of there with a win. It could very easily gone the other way.

And a major head scratcher by the safety's.
yeah and it was at least twice they busted coverage. Oregon's zone had occasional giant holes. And can't use injuries as an excuse for the secondary. Sione Laulea didn't play but he's a corner. Now, Boettcher was supposed to 'hand off' the WR to the corner in zone coverage on that wheel route that went for 38 yards, but the corner was busy covering nobody; so that sure looked like another bust

Iowa had 61 plays and gained 239 total yards and 138 passing yards, but 78 of those yards came on two plays in busted coverage. Meaning that other than those two plays Iowa gained 161 yards on 59 plays....that's 2.7 yards a play which is excellent. Take away the 15 yard completion on the other bust, and it was 146 yards on 58 plays and it was 2.5 yards a play. Funny how 2-3 instances of sleep-walking can completely change a game

on the other hand, Iowa came into that game ranking 6th in the nation in rushing defense giving up less than 84 yards a game and 2.5 yards a carry. The Ducks gashed that defense for 261 yards and 7.3 yards a carry. Dante's long run helped that obviously. But if the defense had brain-farts the OLine and RB's were high IQ

enough of me whining about those defensive lapses though. This morning, the Oregon defense ranks

* 3rd in the FBS in opponent total yards/game an and 3rd in yards/play.
* 29th in opponent rushing yards/game and 20th in opponent yards/rush.
* 1st in opponent passing yards/game; 1st in opponent passing rating; 1st in opponent completion percentage; 2nd in yards/pass
* 6th in opponent scoring
* 4th in opponent 1st downs/game
* 14th in opponent 3rd down conversions (but 121st in opponent 4th down conversions)
* 3rd in opponent scrimmage plays of 10+ yards
* 1st in opponent scrimmage plays of 20+ yards

the Duck D's Achilles heel continues to be opponent red zone conversion rates. They rank 127th out of 136 in opponent scoring rate and 131st in opponent TD rate. They have only allowed 16 red zone penetrations but opponents have scored on 15 and have scored TD's on 12 of 16 trips. That's terrible; and I'd imagine Oregon's poor red zone defense and poor 4th down defense is connected. If Oregon had the 3rd ranked red zone defense like their overall defense the TD rate would be 36% instead of 75% and they would have given up 6 TD's instead of 12.

Iowa got to the red zone twice and scored TD's both times. On the 2nd TD they converted on 4th down twice

on the other hand, Oregon's pass defense is elite...as in about as good as it could be. This is especially notable for a couple of big reasons:

* Oregon ranks 101st in sacks. 101st out of 136. Their pressure rate might be a little better, but they just aren't generating the pass rush they have in recent years. I know Lanning has talked about it and said they have other gauges than just sacks. Maybe he's right because their passing defense numbers are so good

* in the defensive backfield, Oregon starts 3 freshman. One true freshman and two redshirt freshmen. They have Thineman at one safety and he's a junior. In the 8-player two-deep, the Ducks have 2 juniors, 1 sophomore, and 5 freshman. At the star position (nickel), the Ducks do start RS senior Jadon Canady but he's backed up by 2 sophomores. After being injured to start the season, senior CB Theran Johnson has climbed the dept chart, but he doesn't start

in other words, it's a very young defensive back field posting those defensive passing stats and they aren't getting a lot of help in terms of the front-7 generating sacks

I was thinking that when he intentionally veered out of bounds after that long run. I was thinking: "Marcus Mariotta would still be going on that one!"

Moore reportedly has been battling a minor hamstring injury. Maxing out his sprint on a cold rainy day was probably not advised
